Re: 259r with unstable frequency

In my experience the 259r is highly susceptible to influence from the power rails. Both of mine are rock solid running on a (linear) bench PSU but have idiosyncrasies running in a case with the usual Cincon DC-DC converters (75W versions). I don't get generally wandering frequencies but the frequen...

In case of power related issue, I'd first suspect a faulty or overloaded system's own DC PSU rather than the mains AC.
Makes sense ; )

I should say I tried 3 different (known good) cases including a Buchla LEM before sending it off to be analyzed.

Re: 259r with unstable frequency

I currently experience this issue and have for the entirety of the time I’ve been at my current residence with my 259r V1 (if it was happening at my previous residence it didn’t catch my attention). I think it’s power related because it spent a week on Dave Brown’s bench and it didn’t do it. The pow...

Re: buchla 296 diy?

The variance isn't something show-stopping, just average analog variance. If it turns out to be super aggravating the schematics exist and I'm sure changes to the gain of each channel's output could be implemented to level things out. Ok! Thanks Mike. Good to know. it’s on my extremely short list.

Understand there is no trimming for each channel's output level and they'll be a bit different from each other
It was just this and I’ve seen it talked about before in the ems forum.

Re: buchla 296 diy?

How happy are folks with their 296r? Just curious? Trying to decide between building a 295/6 and I’m mainly concerned with the quality of the clone job. For example, the no output attenuation thing, is that also an issue on the 295 as well?

This would increase my chances of getting a 116/216. Maybe Julian would make a modified panel.

Re: Buchla 111c Dual Ringmod vs Buchla 285e ringmod

recently got a 285e and noticed that using a 258 as the external reference source sounded a thousand times better than the internal reference. I am able to hear aliasing on the internal source as well. However, using the 258 as reference and signal inputs was sheer magic! Are the Frequency Shifter a...

Buchla style 292c strange issue

Built a 292c quad lopass gate roman board v2 a while ago but this issue may have existed the entire time. Having an issue where channels B and C are having opposite problems. When switched to both combo and lopass mode channel B stays in combo mode while channel C goes into lopass when switched to b...

Is it me, or is there a real need for another dual osc in that box, even woth the easel installed, basically 2 low pass gates in the quad I don’t see much use for without more osc’s. OK mic preamps and env followers sure. Anyone more bughla savvy see enough osc’s there? I see the 266/291 combo as a...

He was my main inspiration for getting into Buchla. I still study his sonics on a regular basis. He was truly one with his rig.
