As far as I know, all the Zed USB mixers only send the stereo mix via USB - not the individual channels. This is true. I have the Zed10fx and usb audio is sent via firewire only. The upside to this is that you can record audio from any of the other channels directly into your DAW. You could also us...

Helluva way to start your modular journey... I would go crazy trying to remember what's what on there. :spin:

How did you end up with such a unique system?

+1 :tu: Great sound, fantastic UI. Vast amount of modulation and routing capability.
Def gonna check this one out too, custom routing is a huge plus!

Recommend some Filters!

Hey all, I've been looking into some filter VSTs that I can use with Ableton. I found a few free ones, but they're a little sub-par. Basically what I'm looking for are some evolving filters, kinda like the Morphing Auto-Filter and Waveshaping Filter in Live. I'll be using them mostly with analog pol...

Korg Poly61! The chord function is super useful for house/techno music, and it sounds great with a filter on it.

Wow. As someone who spends a lot of time searching for music with otherworldly atmospheres, this is some of the best I've heard.

Structure01 is right up there with the likes of Tim Hecker and Ryoji Ikeda. Absolutely fantastic composition.

Very nice, as usual ^__^

My only suggestion would be to make the filter/delay on the guitar more "wet" so it stands out in the mix.

sticking to the idea where you want to go and scrapping stuff that did not cut it, you can reach a lot further with a modular approach because it leads to a constant juggle between technical and conceptual ideas. the last part of your quote is the main reason why I love modular synthesis. I find th...

Portability is pretty important to me. I plan on having 3 Doepfer 9U travel cases & a monster base once it's mostly complete. The way I see it, if I want to collaborate w/ someone at their studio, I'd be able to take a case (or two) with me. If I had a 48U case I'd have to put those modules in a sma...

One of my favorites--

Personally, I can't stand demo vids that are basically high-pitched sounds modulated in different ways. They show no versatility and are basically unlistenable, at least to me.

A Joystick module could be used to trigger different effects and add control to parameters without having to mess with knobs too much.

A lot of ppl like the Intellijel Planar cuz has more mixing options, but if you want something cheaper Flight of Harmony has the Choices, and that one is good too.

The VC Bend by Pittsburgh would be perfect for what you're trying to do:

It's basically a sample & hold combined with a quantizer.

It depresses me to see how simple this was. I'm a huge fan of dub techno, and when hearing some average Joe pull this off in a few minutes to sound like a Marko Furstenberg track just really taints the magic. You have to remember that music is so much more than the sounds you use. Your experiences,...

My setup is heavily influenced by dub techno production. Someone mentioned the patch chord, and that's a great module if you want to build your chords from the ground up. Dr. Octature can give you some neat sweeping effects. Audio Damage has the DubJr, which is an analog influenced delay. They're al...

Jimmy Edgar once said something about how patches made by women tend to be more "symmetrical". Now I don't know if he was talking about it visually or soundwise, but I definitely think there is a difference in the modular music that men and women make. I've noticed that women tend to put a bit more ...

Truly mesmerising... I love how versatile modular instruments are.

In a way, they are the purest reflection of human form in a musical context. To divide yourself into so many different patterns and sounds, and then combine them with the artistry of another... nothing can truly compare.
