Re: I made a 5u Matrix Mixer

Can anyone who bought/built one of these report back on the results? How's the build quality? How well does it preform?

Re: Drum machine with envelope follower?

Wow! The dry guitar signal makes all the difference! The SSF Detect-Rx follows my playing well and the Animodule - TikatTok divides it up. I added a little gate delay to make it a bit less stiff. I have to adjust my playing a bit to make sure each strike in picked up. Sounds great, but not like natu...

Re: Drum machine with envelope follower?

Thanks Agawell! I'll try running the dry signal this weekend. Someone else suggested compressing it heavily with a short attack and decay. I need the drums to follow the guitar because the music is more improvisational. I have an Animodule TikTok, which is a great clock divider/multiplier. I'm not s...

Drum machine with envelope follower?

I'm looking for a way to loosely sync drum sounds to my guitar playing. Ideally I'd have some foot control over how the guitar playing is interpreted, maybe over the threshold of an envelope follower. The stuff I play varies from super slow and quiet to very loud and fast. I imagine that most envelo...

Re: SSL / Serge Resonant EQ module

Having only brief experiences with a Moog FFB and Random Source Res EQ, I'm curious what the differences are sonically. Obviously there are no inductors involved in the Res EQ. Are they capable of a similar array sounds?

Re: Moog Matriarch Announced

The original color scheme was a deal breaker for me. The black is a lot better, but i still hate the red buttons. Looks like they consulted with Behringer. Oooo low blow! Seriously, White buttons would look a lot more classy, more like the Rogue.

Re: Z506 Swiss Daisy DSP - ANNOUNCED

I halve a similar system to A and the exact same system as B and they really aren't that different ergonomically. While I prefer the consistent aesthetic of the Hordijk, my one complaint is that the jacks way are too stiff. The jacks on my mix-matched dotcom system are all buttery smooth. Also, as m...

Re: Z506 Swiss Daisy DSP - ANNOUNCED

Did people crap their pants over the euroization of the format when the Analog Craftsman Quad AR came out? It looks like pretty much the same spacing. The SSL 1515 is even tighter vertically. Neither of those are an issue for me. Ya'll must have some fat fingers! Zebra, Welcome to MU. Sounds like yo...

Re: Z506 Swiss Daisy DSP - ANNOUNCED

Yeah, this might generate more interest if it were a 2U module with more extensive control over the different modes.

Sorry to be so finicky. Nice to see a new manufacturer in MU!

What's the price?

Re: Z506 Swiss Daisy DSP - ANNOUNCED

Not usually a big fan of digital modules, especially EGs. They tend to be a little too precise for my tastes. Looks nice though. The jacks might be a little small. Usually 3 side by side will be snug up against each other. Functionally I'm not opposed to the EG and VCA being included, especially if ...

Re: Which 960?

Thanks! I think I'm going with the MOS-LAB 960B for both the built in quantizer and trigger buss. The Hordijk has a great quantizer if I need something more extensive. I'll be using it f0r a mix of melodic and random applications. I think I'm going to add the SSL - V-gates, Corsynth - VC LFO, STG - ...

Re: Which 960?

Thanks! I didn't know about the trigger bus option. That's great! Cool to have both quantized and unquantized options simultaneously. I'll look into the COTK trigger sequencer.

Which 960?

I'm considering setting up a 12U case for a 960 + related modules. 12U because it'll fit above my Rob Hordijk. Any faves among the various clones? I also need to decide what collection of support modules to include. I'm considering the SSL - V-Gates, LFO/Osc (for clock and ratcheting duties. Not sur...

There's also this:

I was set on the Detachment 3 - Archangel for the Hordijk, but it's been over 3 years since they made the last batch. If anyone has an update on that, I'd love to hear it. :despair:

I might just give up and slum-it with a 960. :waah:

Re: Moving into 5U advice and questions

As mentioned, the STG mixer breaks up nicely. Also check out the Corsynth, C103 V2. It's a frequency multiplier/divider and distortion circuit. Like a lot of folks here, I started out with Dotcom and branched out from there. There's nothing wrong with Roger's designs. They offer a great sounding, we...

Re: Hello Hordijk System

Dumb question: I just sold my old Rungler/Dual Fader etc. panel. I'm getting an updated panel from Rob. Do I send the power cables with the old panel or keep them to use with the new one? Caught between eurorack and dotcom logic here... I'd assume that I send them, but... Also, the connectors are re...

Re: rails for 1/3U vent spacing?

I can't seem to find a better pic of it. It shows 1/3 height vent spacers apparently through ebay from a company called All Metal Parts. I contacted and they said that they have them in their ebay store. them They don't sell the rails though. I guess they need to have evenly spaced holes. This compa...

rails for 1/3U vent spacing?

Hi, I want to leave space for venting my rack stuff, but I also want to fit in as much as possible. Does anyone know where I can get rails and spacers like this, but taller? Probably 13U.

Thanks!

Re: Vocal Chain (and more) Suggestions? Daking pre > 1176?

I just got the Phoenix Ascent yesterday. Spent a few hours running synth, bass, vocals and a drum machine through it. It sounds incredible! compared to the WA73 it still has a 1073ish sound, but it sounds sweeter, more silky at extreme settings. The transformer saturation is smooth and musical. It's...

Re: Vocal Chain (and more) Suggestions? Daking pre > 1176?

Thanks Michael O! (and everyone else) I have a limited supply of mostly cheap mics available. CAD 2200, Rode K2 (upgraded with an NOS Amperex tube), Audix OM5, SM57 and a Shure Unidyne III 545D. My studio is 12' x 14' with an angled ceiling that goes all the way down to the floor on one side. I've b...
