Re: Problem using 4ms RCD with Doepfer A196 for frequency multiplication

Is your RCD set to output gates or triggers? Maybe you are not giving the PLL enough gate info :hmm:

Re: Best square wave VCO?

If you already have a VCO you like, consider a comparator and make your own square/PWM. There are dedicated modules, like ones from Doepfer or Metabolic Devices' 2Win. But you'll also find them 'hiding' in other modules like the A-137-2, MN Maths or Toppobrillo Sport Modulator. I'm also partial to a...

Re: Tiny 2 hp module reccomendations

So this is my first foray in to modular synthesis and I've jumped in with a MakeNoise shared system plus. ... Welcome! I had to look it up - that's quite a system for a start  My gut reaction: buy a 2HP blank for now and learn to use and love what you have. :) If you really want suggestions fo...

Re: CGS 113 VCM bottom section shape

That looks like it's working better than the lower section of my Bananalogue/Serge WVX, which is equivalent to the CGS113. Can you post a short recording so we can hear what you mean about the lack of low end? It might just be the nature of the rectification, i.e. you are doubling the frequency. edi...

Re: Thicker sounding attack on kicks (techniques)

Kicks are really not something I use much but I made two discoveries recently: one deals with the transient, the other with the body (and I guess mix). - I'm rarely happy with the envelope/FM/pitch arrangement offered on, e.g. 909 emulators, but you can take a sampled kick and pitch it to taste usin...

Re: Why does a square waves sound detuned when in the lower range ?

I've heard this too - on an MC-202. I wonder if it's instrument specific, given the similarity between the two Rolands. Have you measured it with a tuner, is it off or is it just our ears?

Re: 2 to 1 mixer modules?

The first module looks like it's a bunch of switches - so, e.g. you'd patch your input/source to the centre jack of the three jacks and flick the switch to connect it to one or the other outputs. You could put the input in jack 1, but it doesn't look like you can mix with it; it just connects two j...

Re: Clocked delay for pitch CV and gate

As it's stepped CVs and gates, you could patch this with a sample & hold and a switch (or two). Grab the CV you want, then when you want to 'release' it, flick the switch. Is that what you're after? Not really, I need to grab something like 2 bars of CV :) If it's bars of information, can I assume ...

Re: 2 to 1 mixer modules?

... Boredbrain Music SPLIX... This looks like a variation on the passive mixer scheme (or using a potentiometer to 'mix' two signals). Again, just because it sort of works - and is marketed as a mixer - doesn't mean it's going to give you the results you expect. If you want to know why, read daverj...

Re: 2 to 1 mixer modules?

So what about something like the Doepfer A-182-2? Or many switched multiples that let you use any socket for in or out? The first module looks like it's a bunch of switches - so, e.g. you'd patch your input/source to the centre jack of the three jacks and flick the switch to connect it to one or th...

theotteryears, if you're just looking for a small mixer, here are two options: http://www.doepfer.de/a138n.htm https://manhattananalog.com/products/mix Foghorn, which buffered multiple are you thinking of when you say it's OK to mix in one? Creative (ab)use aside, a passive multiple is a signal spli...

Re: 2 to 1 mixer modules?

I agree with flashheart; a multiple might work, but it's not the right way to do it. He already said it's going to a Nord Drum and apparently the trigger velocity can add accents without a separate trigger/voltage. He needs to mix the signals. Ah, I see. I was thinking of this method: OR-combiner_m...

Re: CV variable burst with probability module?

I think this is what is referred to as 'ratcheting', i.e. a trill of the same note within the same step. If that's what you're after then there must be other software-based sequencer modules that can do this. My, standalone, Sequentix P3 does and I bet the Ornament and Crime has an app (check the on...

Re: 2 to 1 mixer modules?

I agree with flashheart; a multiple might work, but it's not the right way to do it. This would be a great, simple DIY project, especially since you have a fixed application, i.e. the Nord Drum. Have a look at the Doepfer DIY page's example of an OR-wired socket: http://www.doepfer.de/DIY/a100_diy.h...

What do you mean by resources - an alternative to actual modules? If you don't have the modules to just try the patch examples you gave, you could use the Clavia Nord Modular G2 Demo software: https://www.nordkeyboards.com/downloads/legacy/nord-modular-g2 To hear the effect of, e.g. bending a CV, pa...

Re: is an OSC and a Wavefolder the same as a Wavetable Osc?

If you consider a wavefolder and wavetable to both be transfer functions, then yes, there is a similarity, e.g. a saw to sine transfer: https://navsmodularlab.blogspot.com/2014/09/patch-tips-27-fm-equivalent.html or a saw as clock multiplier (take wavefolder's pulse output): https://navsmodularlab.b...
