Re: Modify Your Dotcom Case to Gain Extra 1U Space

:O

OMG - I wish they made that public knowledge!!
Good to know for anyone else though, and if I ever were to get another case in the future. Wow.
If that's the case (ha), they should just do them by default that way and up the price a bit.

^ Nice demo! Noise is one of the best ways to demonstrated the range of FFBs! Sadly I sold my Yusynth FFB w/ inductors, but you can see the beginning of this video how it sounded via white / pink noise: https://youtu.be/xfUw2g_uHRI I just obtained a COTK FFB with inductors and I like it. Of course I...

Re: Post pics of your 5U format setup!

Nice!! Just be careful. Power is a very dangerous thing... I'm actually waiting for an expert here to jump in and say "Nooooo!! Cutting those wires is not safe, and not grounded" or what have you. All I did was tie each end off with some electric tape. :|

Modify Your Dotcom Case to Gain Extra 1U Space

I apologize for the double-post (I posted this in the Post pics of your 5U format setup thread) but I realize this may be of some use for anyone not following that thread. Years ago I modified my 22-space Dotcom by putting the power module on the back , so I could have more module space. This entail...

Re: Entry 5U System

When trying to save space, never buy a single function module. However, it will cost you. Instead of an EG, get an EG/VCA combo. Instead of a standard VCA, get a DUAL VCA (still 1U) And so on... That's why I like Oakley so much. However, Dotcom has obviously stepped up their game via the ++ line... ...

I wasn't focusing on social app trending, nor was I comparing one app with another. I was talking mainly about the archival / search nature between social media vs classic forums. Obviously you're passionate about the topic so if you feel better venting about the comedy behind this the same way I fe...

what a silly thread ... like all the other platforms are somehow better.?. you all use google and they are the kings of robbing everything.. and creating nothing. How is it "silly?" I hate Facebook. Forums vs Social Media

There are pros and cons to using a social media platform for posting and seeking hobby-related content. The pros are: Immediacy Depending on the size of the group, you post a question and you can get multiple replies within seconds on Facebook. Meanwhile things on a forum and stew for days, hours be...

Re: Post pics of your 5U format setup!

This just in!!! As we all know the beauty of modular is an ever-changing system to suit your needs... and since I made my update post just earlier today I could not stand that POWER INTERFACE module taking up a space a module could be in... you may notice my mid 22 space cab doesn't have one, that's...

Re: Post pics of your 5U format setup!

Great pics and very curious about this master plan of Alternating Bit. So my "master plan," as Flareless put it, was delayed a month due to shipping, but here it is (as many of you may have already seen leaked out via some posts and videos I shared along the way). I went from massive, multiple colu...

Re: The "Show Us Your Filters" Thread

Ok, I'll play. Posting filters "currently in MU system" as I have two filters in storage (Corsynth OTA & MegaOhm MA20), plus an MOTM portable system that has an Oakley Dual Noise Filter, a Resonant Lowpass Gate, plus a SynthTech 490 Moog ladder filter.

Re: Fun with the Moon Modular 564 Sequential Divider Switch

Very cool! Though I don't collect modules of that height that's a great demo.
I used to have one from COTK and later a Dotcom one. The larger your system the more it demands such a module.

So dumb question. Was the package opened/inspected by customs? If so, I've seen some shitty re-pack jobs from them.
I have no idea.

Club of the Snobs... oops, Knobs

Yes, ok, I did it. I created a snarky nickname for COTK out of frustration. Yet like always, believe it or not, I am still on the fence about COTK and will probably will end up buying from them in the future because of my love for their modules runs deep. However, for anyone who may be relatively ne...

Re: Missing Modules in the Format

+1 for Dotcom as a Standard. If not an imposed Standard by some governing body then an implied Standard by the community. How many threads ask "is this item Dotcom compatible?" or "will it work with a Dotcom system?" The point I was making was not about "standard" or "system." The semantic focus wa...

Re: Missing Modules in the Format

I'll support josaka's "kind of" response.
Dotcom is a format like Kleenex is used as "tissue." I'll leave it at that. But you are correct too, dslocum in that Moog itself is a brand and format so there is some ambiguity.

Re: Missing Modules in the Format

Synthesizers.com is a brand, not a format.
5U or MU is the typical format nomenclature.

Thank you, both josaka and ariyo for your feedback. You both have pretty much confirmed that the sound can be achieved with stuff already in my system, though like ariyo pointed out, packs things nicely into one tight package. In my experience OLED screens have a "glowy" aura about them that make th...

Re: COTK Wavefront VCO

I have Woven Spirits (love it). I agree on the thin sounding aspect which was why I thought maybe the COTK Wavefront would be somewhat like a half step (or hybrid) between contemporary analog and FM synthesis. I had a DDVCO for like a week... I wasn't as open-minded back then, I may need to revisit....

Re: COTK Wavefront VCO

Does anyone know how the general sound output compares between the Club of the Knobs C 1621WF Morphable Wavefront Oscillator and something very wave table-ish like the Dove Audio WTF Oscilllator? Very few videos exist of the COTK one but in theory it should be able to put out similar sounds yet perh...
