Re: 259r v2.1 Questions

Out of curiosity, what were you matching the vactrols for? I have two 292c's finished that I'm going to calibrate in a little, but just used the Xvive's I got from SAModular. I tried to follow what David Brown had in https://modularsynthesis.com/roman/buchla292c/292qlpg.htm I matched the vactrols s...

Re: 259r v2.1 Questions

Thanks for the response! I was seeing the autotune as a mode rather than something you did to essentially tune. Makes sense. Okay, that makes a lot more sense on the 20k. That's how I figured it would need to be connected, but I thought it was a permanent fixture, not just to find what you like. Als...

259r v2 Questions

Hi everyone, Couple quick questions. I'm building the samodular 259 v2.1 and had a few questions I couldn't quite find answers to. Autotune: Okay, right now I'm more curious why it's a ON-OFF-(ON) and not a ON-OFF-ON? I'm still trying to find it on the original schematic, but I'm assuming the moment...

I hear and see the term voltage divider all over the place. You're right, I need to start looking into these things. Thanks :)

Re: Basic Attenuator Question

Perfect, thanks! I have seen in wiring diagrams where pin 3 to ground is left off. Let me see if I can think of an example... yeah, I can't remember which wiring diagram it was, but I had one where the 3 pin was not connected to ground. Is that ever a good idea?

Basic Attenuator Question

Hey everyone, I have a basic attenuator question. I'm sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but searching for "attenuator" in a sub-forum that's existed for over 10 years and every other topic has the word in it... Anyhow, after years of sitting in a drawer, I'm finally wiring up a pair of Buch...

Re: Mini-Modules : Minimoog DIY clone on its way.

Brian, how are you matching the transistors? Can you prove that they are are within ~2mv vbe for each pair? I'm using one of the Ian Fritz transistor matching boards. I'm powering it up with a Synthrotek USB Power. Then I connect my meter to the positive and negative posts, plugin two transistors, ...

Re: Mini-Modules : Minimoog DIY clone on its way.

Hey Kevin, So I have a small update. I have my father's analogue meter. I started going through the ladder looking for shorts. I found that (I'm using http://www.synthfool.com/docs/Moog/minimoog/Minimoog_Service_Manual.pdf ) that between the bases and collectors of Q70 and Q71 (the ones attached to ...

Re: Mini-Modules : Minimoog DIY clone on its way.

Can't you just solder Q83 back? It only needs to match Q84. I broke it :sob: A charging capacitor should climb towards infinite resistance until it discharges. Also measuring a capacitor that is installed in a circuit doesn't really give you precise observations. But if it's a solid reading, I woul...

Re: Mini-Modules : Minimoog DIY clone on its way.

Okay. Thanks again :). So... No unexpected shorts on JP14/31 (or JP16/32). I will try the resonance adjustments. So I had a question on this. Couple other things I've noticed. If I check continuity across R312, my meter beeps, but if I check the resistance, it's 167ohms (it's a 200ohm resistor). So ...

Re: Mini-Modules : Minimoog DIY clone on its way.

Hey, no worries about the sporadic updates. I think I updated my post four times :D. I have good news and bad news. I'm not sure about the noise part, but I removed both resistors, and that didn't fix anything. Then I removed C68 itself. As soon as I did that, I got a mixed signal on the negative pa...

Re: Mini-Modules : Minimoog DIY clone on its way.

Thanks again! I have waveforms on all pins of the molex, at the the switch, and at the 33k resistors. However, I have nothing on the other side of the 33ks. On that note, I also noticed that there is nothing coming from the noise circuit. Should I be able to see noise on the scope? I have turned noi...

Re: Mini-Modules : Minimoog DIY clone on its way.

Edit: Here's some places to look. VCF input capacitor (from mixer output) is at C68. If there's no signal there, the problem must be in the mixer. If it's the mixer, I'd say it is actually a micro match issue since it's all passive with resistors and pots. Those connectors are RSW2,4 & 6. I checked...

Re: Mini-Modules : Minimoog DIY clone on its way.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the help! I see an envelop activity on Q66, but I do not see anything signal on R271 whether I press a key or not.

*Edit: I just checked all the 741s. IC1 and IC2 read 0.00v on VCC+, while the rest read +10.00. My guess is I have an issue somewhere around there.

Cheers,
Brian

Re: Mini-Modules : Minimoog DIY clone on its way.

Hi, question for anyone willing to help. I saw someone up a few pages with the same issue, but I'm not sure if it was resolved. I'm not getting any output from the output jacks. I have confirmed all of the voltages in the first calibration section. I see all of the waveforms on the molex connectors....

CGS67 Testing

Hi all! I was wondering if I could get a bit of advice. I'm wiring up an old old BOCGS panel (Panel 2b), and there are a couple things I need help sorting out. I've realized I really don't know if it is working correctly or not. Now, I do not at the moment have matched germanium diodes in there (I a...

Yeah, no luck :\. I have +3V3 and +3V3_A. I have all of the hardware on the board, but only one lead soldered each. I can't imagine that being an issue if you can flash the board with no hardware.

Thanks,
Brian

Hi, Another programming question. I had an issue with a bridged electrolytic (the one after the regulator on elements). Pulled it, pulled the pad :deadbanana:, fixed it with a bit of solid core wire and a new cap, and now I'm getting 3.3v everywhere. For programming, I'm using st-link v2 with J-Tag ...

Hi, trying to build my second elements (first one was a disaster). Before I solder down all of the hardware (i.e., pots, jacks, and switch), I wanted to make sure I could flash the program on there. Should I be able to connect to with my STINK without the hardware? Or do I need everything soldered i...
