Re: IF YOU WERE TO START YOUR JOURNEY AGAIN

I second the buying of a used SS. I did, It was a good education and kept me stoked for a year or so before I jumped all the way in. You could also just buy the modules piecemeal. I would start with the Rene, DPO, Optomix, and of course Maths. One morphagene is more than enough to keep you very busy...

Re: Where to go after just starting

o_C is THE bang for the buck module. if you are naturally pre-disposed to tweaking parameters and menu navigation it could be all you ever need for some epic ambient events. rings and plaits is a great combination especially for cross modulation. Add those two modules and a buffered mult for the mat...

PP is a classic for a reason. It's uses are beyond anticipation if you haven't used one before. And even more so when combined with Brains.

Re: Where to next

A cheap, used rené could be an interesting journey. And an o_C because you don't have one and it can play some very interesting tunes, chord changes, and do random magic. Those two combined could generate their own unique intertwined melodies for an eternity. And you probably want a temps_utile, Pam...

Re: Behringer System 55

I am so excited for that Behringer system 55. I hope Behringer's excellent offerings, stir the competition and other brands lower their prices. Definetely interested in the filterbank! Just to reassert something about the fixed filter bank. The size of eurorack by itself prevents an authentic FFB f...

Re: 9 months down the road... Ideas?

qpas, you know you want it. has a vca that does some interesting things. can split one signal many different ways. Almost counts as a voice when considering the lush overtones you can create and sequence with cv, and it plays real nice with all of your other MN stuff. beyond that I second the temps ...

My pick is the SSF Muton paired with the Befaco ST Mix.

Re: Re:

I would like an LFO with a digital readout so I could set it precisely to cycle once every 23 seconds or whatever. Something like a z3000, but as an LFO - cycle times from say 0,0005 Hz (around 30 minutes) to 50 Hz. I’d like more numeric control in general. Maths is awesome but how about some actua...

Re:

I recommend the Roland SYR-E84 because it comes with a lid, has a ridiculous amount of power for 84HP, and can be stacked if you have more than one. You can find them for decent prices on the resale market. just want to state that you can actually fit 85hp worth of modules into the Roland SYR-84 ca...

Re: Torn apart between Erica Synths Black Sytem II and Make Noise Shared System (eurorack noobie)

Btw I also have this, but again, my problem is (other than time constraints) that I'm a beginner in eurorack and I'm really not sure that it would even work (if I have enough mixers, VCA's, etc. etc.) https://cdn.modulargrid.net/img/racks/modulargrid_1092640.jpg Time is the key word. Re: Torn apart between Erica Synths Black Sytem II and Make Noise Shared System (eurorack noobie)

You can put together a Makenoise system based on used modules for about a third less if you go with the mk1 Rene and non black planel mn modules. I would recommend adding a qpas and a brains for the pp as well. If it's gonna be stationary, you can get a bigger case with the money saved, which you wa...

Re: Noob question

my deep dive was buying a used makenoise ss at a discount. I still use the rene, pp, dpo, sometimes maths, but usually patch a double andore mk2 instead. everything else from the ss is gathering dust. If you're very picky, and/or are looking for something specific. I would say go piecemeal, start wi...

Re: UO_C vs. Hemisphere vs. Disting mk. 4?

I actually have 3 Distings MK4 and 3 o_Cs. Hemisphere and o_C is the same thing, its just an OS for o_. There is no disadvantages in the o_C at least for me. o_C is probably the most popular Module for Quantizing besides Quantizer. I have the Harmonaig too for quantizing duties but o_C for me beats...

Re: sequencer for "purposively" composing melodies

i'm still over here trying to figure out what "purposively" means. Not randomly? It has the ability to record the random magic of any and all of the others combined, and then be able to go back, then tweak, tweeze, and save the results with surgical precision and endless storage. this is why I love...

Re: What sparked your entry into eurorack?

I had a roommate that could build a theremin out of nearly anything. He turned me on to BOC in '02. I always had this goal to create sounds that no one had ever heard before. I got an Sk-1 and a drum machine, which I would run through a self patched mixer to get feedback and some outboard for duckin...

Re: Master CV Sequencer for patterned 'Automation' of FX (?)

y'know, I'd somewhat overlooked it in the past... And I've remembered another thing that put me off from the Voltage Block... I'm not fond of how each slider represents a step in each channel, rather than having 8 steps of 1 channel to immediately play with (like with a Varigate 4+ CV channel). I'd...

Re: Hi Hat Suggestions (6 oscillator type)

The Audio Damage adm07 Mad Hatter seems close to what you want. It’s based on the TR-606 and has six square oscillators and a digital noise source. You can control the pitch of two of the oscillators, and it has a band pass filter. While it is discontinued, there are still some floating around. The...

Re: sequencer for "purposively" composing melodies

So far I've used the rene, vg8, and o_C(two of them in tandem) I've gotten mind altering experiences out of all of them. so much so I decided to take the plunge into the er-101/2 combo. It has the ability to record the random magic of any and all of the others combined, and then be able to go back, ...

I get a lot of use out of o_C and Temp Utile. The secret is to save the settings in your current app after each use! I love these two modules but the menu diving and all of the options make it hard to get back to your previous state. This is particularly good for things that take a while to setup l...
