Re: Polyend Tracker

I kinda think it sucks poop sticks that it's not common practice for companies to put big ticket firmware bugs on the product page (even if it's small print at the bottom of the page) so, you know, customers know what they're getting into. Seems downright sneaky. And I'm not just talking about Polye...

Re: Polyend Tracker

Go for it! Trackers are great for happy accidents. If you've never used a tracker, and aren't sure if you'd get along with it, you could always just download Sunvox or Renoise and see if you click with the tracker sequencing paradigm before buying PE's Tracker. These are also incoming-- https://dirt...

Re: Conditions and probabilities Modules

Typing "probability" into the search field on modulargrid will return quite a long list. Here's a few off the top of my head that contain probability functions as part of their design-- https://www.modulargrid.net/e/addac-system-addac504-probabilistic-generator https://www.modulargrid.net/e/mutable-...

What is interesting is that it is now the ONLY daw-less device on the market with the linear song view so it has no competition.
Maybe I'm not entirely clear about what you mean as "linear song view," but Deluge's song view is linear.

Re: Torso T-1

Just wanted to pass along the speedy response from Torso about the above questions, as well as bluetooth-- "Yes will make a midi effect unit mode that lets you manipulate incoming midi. All the embedded algorithms inside T-1 can affect the incoming midi. This function will be available when the unit...

Re: Does no screen make a sequencer really see like more of a 'real instrument'?

That T-1 looks great. On the preorder list! One thing that would make it even more playable (and this applies to any MIDI sequencer with keys or pads) is if the pads transmitted MPE or polyAT so you could control its internal parameters like-- press harder on a pad to change clock division, press/be...

Re: Torso T-1

Does anyone know if this can function as a more traditional arp, in that you play a note on a MIDI keyboard going into T1, and the T1's arp follows each played note on the MIDI keyboard? This is one thing I really miss on the NDLR. And can you use the randomization function to create different quant...

Also, if your sequencer recognizes control messages for things like clock division, pattern-length, pattern-direction, etc., a breath controller can be a fun and effective way to play a sequencer.

Re: Does no screen make a sequencer really see like more of a 'real instrument'?

I guess it comes down to how each person defines "playable.' For me that would probably mean chunky knobs/sliders/pads and without menus, for a performance anyway. I'm fine with studio sequencers being deep. My biggest problem is that linear sequencers and piano rolls have never struck a chord with ...

Re: New Novation / Aphex Collab Coming Soon ???

I would love to see something truly innovative here vs a co-branded iteration.. <crosses fingers> Absolutely! Re: New Novation / Aphex Collab Coming Soon ???

It’d be cool if Novation released a compact keyboard synth/sampler workstation. All we’ve ever had is a decade old-- Microsampler (2009) and OP-1 (2011). Why not fill a real gap in the market instead of just another MK2 synth?

I don’t know how many other people this applies to but would love to connect my polyseq+poly2+tracker and have it all work in unison that would be the perfect workstation. I was looking at the Poly2 as well. Have you purchased it already? If not, you might want to read this before you do-- https://...

Re: What modules are you using for interesting percussive sequencing

A single stream of bursts of random gates/triggers into a 1 to 4 sequential switch that's clocked by a steady pulse = the burst of random gates/trigs will only appear on the 4 synced steps which results in 4 voltages of "synced" ratchets, complete misses/rests, swung steps, and occasional on-beat ga...

Re: Autechre - recreate on Eurorack?

Some sort of synced random pattern generator driven by a CV'd clock divider will get you in the ball park. Then add some synced lfo's driven by other clock dividers based on the same clock to control parameters like decay, will get you even closer. Of course, to make a full track via live modular mu...

Do you ever get this? You own a piece of gear and you use it but there's a fair bit of it you DON'T use and it kind of bugs you and you think maybe you should get something simpler? Yes! Well, I don't really downgrade, I just do a fair amount of research before buying in the first place. If there i...
