Re: Yamaha FS1R: such a nightmare to program? Editors?
Superb! I'd fantasized about having something like this for my FS1R... add a re-write of the user manual - that was almost wilfully opaque in key areas - and the instrument's true potential would probably be liberated by many more hands.

Yep, Radio 3 seems to be spreading its net ever wider. Caught the first one last weekend but only just found your thread now... and it's two minutes to go before tonight's episode... very much looking forward to this one.

Re: [Kits Available!] Eurorack Klee Panel and Daughterboard
Thanks for the Sifam slider cap reference. I think I'll order the black soft touch option. If nothing else, those look much more aesthetically pleasing than those seemingly oversize TTSH pointer alternatives. Having coughed up a steep customs import charge, my Klee full-kit is stubbornly refusing to...

Nice slider caps on your build there djthopa. They don't appear to be the standard kit parts or the chunky covers that are normally available.

Yes. Even at half of that it would still be over priced.

Re: What's your strategy when looking for modules?
I'm guessing that individual strategies must vary considerably when factoring in situational scenarios, intentions, funds, etc. In my case I have many non-modular synths that I've accumulated over decades, so as I develop my still comparatively nascent modular set-up and move beyond the more obvious...

Re: Sequential Pro 3
I would have thought so. All MIDI equipped monos, in my experience, transmit polyphonically. I'm currently using a Korg Prophecy mono synth to keyboard control a Modal Argon8m polysynth with no problems.

Thanks for your time and attention ferran, but both of your suggestions pretty much mirror the description of what I'm currently stuck with as a secondary option unless I can crack the hard nylon Rean with the gray pointer availability problem.

Superb. A real performance. I've been longing to see something like this... truly alive and one with his machines, real talent with musical drive, build and emotion showing that modular can soar in the right hands!

Re: KNOBS!
Thought I'd try my luck on this thread since it's the main 'Knobs' info source it seems. For a while, like many, I've wanted to replace my standard Doepfer grey knobs with a black bodied equivalent (which Doepfer supply), but instead of the usual and available white pointer I'm after the same but wi...

Re: Alternative to Waldorf Streichfett?
Maybe this suggestion is straying a little from the original request, but having used a Streichfett myself and going by memory (as it's in long term storage) I seem to remember the core sound of that wasn't anything special, what magically turned it into a string machine was a thick layer of ensembl...

Re: What are you listening to now?
Yello's "Point" and Everything Everything's "Re-animator" recently released albums. The new EE album didn't connect too strongly at first but after a few repeat listens I now think they're still on fine form... I really like it. Somehow, for me, they manage to pin down that sometimes elusive but dis...

DSI evolver hardware synths can literally burn your eyes out lol so true--i took my mono evolver apart and put 3M blue painter's / masking tape on the underside of the front panel above the leds...made them reasonable again That's just the solution I had in mind for my yet to be pot updated MEK... ...

Re: U.D.O. Super 6 hybrid "binaural" poly
I prefer 4 octaves over 5 for me the UDO has the perfect ratio for a synth like this I would never have bought it if it was 5 octaves That's interesting. I respect your preference. Maybe, in part, older people who've grown up with most quality polys being 5-octaves or more since the 70s (like mysel...

Re: U.D.O. Super 6 hybrid "binaural" poly
That was maybe my photo. Yes, I have a Moog Grandmother too, and the S6 looks much longer than just an octave and a bit extra, even though it's not. Yes it was your photo that triggered my response... suddenly, after seeing pictures of it in isolation, the Super 6 looked so diminutive next to that ...

Re: Greengate DS-3
I bought the Greengate DS-3 card/keyboard/Apple IIe assembly as a package for around £1,600 back in 1985 (a very extravagant buy for me at the time) and still have it knocking about in storage minus a green monitor screen. Although it was relatively cheap at the time like the poor man's Fairlight, I...

Re: U.D.O. Super 6 hybrid "binaural" poly
Sorry if this is seen as irrelevant at this point, but I saw a recent post photo of a home studio showing a centre piece UDO Super 6 in the shot and was convinced the image had been doctored for some obscure reason because it appeared to be an octave shorter than it should be. I then went to all the...

Re: Chris Huggett R.I.P
Heard the sad news yesterday... something of a jolt! Had the Wasp and Spider in my early synth years and followed these with the OSCar in the mid 1980s which so impressed me that I wrote a letter to Chris Huggett. Although I was a complete 'nobody' at the time (as I am today :hihi: ), Chris responde...

Re: “Ambient” filter
Lots of good suggestions here... really any filter properly applied allied to creative thinking will have it's place for ambient. Since there's a bit of a tilt towards SEM type filtering in this thread, I'd recommend taking a look at AJH Synth Gemini 2412 dual state variable filter with lots of slow...

Re: What is the worst synth sounding you ever bought and why ?
Made reference to an 80s digital synth earlier in this thread but the mention of the Jen SX1000 just now (which I never owned) suddenly brought to mind a brief episode with a second hand Marlin Synthetone (same as Jen SX2000) back in the early 80s, that was meant to supplement my new Korg MS-20 whic...

Re: Arturia PolyMatrix / PolyBrute coming?
Morphing features have been a round for quite a while (and often barely commented on) in synths such as the Yamaha AN1x and EX5 from the 90s which used two 'scene' buttons each with different parameter settings which could be smoothly morphed between via an assigned modulation wheel. I think somethi...

Re: Cwejman ADSR's impact on sound
Regarding the difference between Doepfer’s A-140 and A-141 (original), have a look at the layouts on the DIY/timing capacitor page: http://www.doepfer.de/DIY/a100_capacitors.htm 'Adding' VC makes it a different circuit... Thanks for that link and info Navs . I have an old A-141 that I want to tweak...
