Re: RIP Dave Greenfield

Always thought that the most interesting 'punk' bands where often the most musically talented, but still took things off piste. Like some have noted, that synth solo on Nice and Sleazy has forever been burnt into my memory.

RIP Dave.

Re: Florian Schneider R.I.P.

The ecstatic melodic tones of Tongebirge, seemingly unbidden, entered my mind just this afternoon... and now, in the presence of this news... I'm heartbroken.

Kraftwerk, in which his spirit lives on, has greatly enhanced this life and many others for sure. A fine 'living' legacy.

RIP Florian

Re: Cleaning up PCBs

... I used to use RA300 sn60/pb40 solder and my old PCBs are a mess. It leaves a sticky residue that Isopropyl nor warm soapy water can do anything about. Does anybody have any suggestions for removing all of this excess flux? My older builds need an overhaul. Thanks I use Ersin 362 60/40 Multicore...

Re: 19" 3U REAR powered euro rack case

There's also the Analogue Systems RS-10 which is a very good quality solution although you may want to add an extra doepfer style power distribution strip (easy to add) as the design only has 8 of this type of power socket alongside the ASys type. It's properly fused with fault indicator LEDs on the...

It is easier to just twiddle the knobs until you get what you want.

Re: Oakley SRE 330

The Oakley SRE-330 is definitely a good candidate for your studio as a fine sounding analogue chorus unit full stop, though I'm not sure how closely it can emulate the Roland SDD-320 Dimension D if that's an absolute must. I've never owned a D so can't say if it gets close enough. I liked the Oakley...

Programming skills and effects such as analogue chorus etc can help a lot here. A few of the Dreadbox Abyss demos came across well to these ears. Just 4 voices though.

Just about to function test a newly bought Erogenous Tones Levit8, 8 channels of mixing facilities with lots of versatility seems to have these features and more. I'd highly recommend other 8 channel modules from ET, they work together like a charm.

Re: Do you reckon there will be a Sequential Pro3 Desktop module?

I would tend towards "no" on this one. It's a bit like an expanded Mini Moog for the 2020s, the keys performance aspect is a major integral of the Pro 3 layout and package. Also, desktop module versions usually come along shortly after their 4+ octave polysynth incarnations where the space saving as...

I’m sure Eno would be up for it, doesn’t strike me as the curmudgeon Dylan is.

Fantastic work. If I hadn't already splashed out on a DSI OB-6 desktop (not the same in certain key respects, I know) I would seriously consider this as a project on the strength of this.

Your commentary/instrument sound balance on this vid could be better though.

With most of my studio gear in storage I've occasionally used my Sony ICD-UX512 to make some basic ideas recordings from my makeshift rig with acceptable results. Make sure you disable menu options like LFC (Low frequency cut) or noise cut which tend to be somewhat hidden default settings at the ser...

It seems like the"prosumer" segment of recording console's is gone. As that segment now just tracks directly to audio interface's. I just got a Ghost, and love it. There is something about physical faders and knobs that just makes everything more enjoyable. Even if i might loose something in regard...
