Re: Sequential Pro 3

With rumours of a Pro 3 I was expecting something a little different being the owner of a Pro 2. However, admittedly largely based on appearances/expectations, I'm beginning to warm to the concept of this synth, not as a Pro 2 'replacement' - I'll be keeping mine - but as a related and fruitful deve...

Re: Frequency Central Klang Stadt Build Thread

Someone else is having the same issue. See what happens at the 3:10 mark, when he turns up XMOD all the way. The audio glitches out and stops. Sorry to hear you're having problems with your build, but that demo video sold this oscillator to me when I first viewed it some weeks ago and I loved that ...

Re: Recommend a rack mount synth

Roland JD-990 is strong on quality and versatility as is the XV-5080 if you want to go a little further than the already mentioned and solid performing JV-1080.

Re: Site Migration Completed

Thanks for this… I was wondering if Muffs had gone forever over the last few days! Somehow (not sure what I've done/not done this time) I've seemingly managed to send this post even though I'm having real problems staying logged in from a successful initial log in. I imagine others may be having thi...

The DSI Evolver is great for this especially if you go for the easier control access MEK or PEK versions, while the DSI Pro 2 takes mod flexibility to another level again and is now quite affordable second hand. The more fully analogue MFB Dominion 1 is quite strong in this realm as well without inv...

Thanks for those assessments batch and akrenaut . I was hoping for the word "clean" rather than "characterful" or "coloured" (not a bad thing in some instances). The apparent 'philosophy' of these ET modules would lead one to expect this but you can never be sure until they're sitting in your rack.

I'm quite surprised this module doesn't get more attention considering it's facilities. One thing that trawling through all the threads hasn't really revealed is the audio quality/characteristic of the VC8 in comparison to other VCAs. Any thoughts or observations from users here? I've just bought th...

The module came today, and I am happy - one of the best purchases of the year. I tried it in combination with Mimeophone and Rainmaker and I took a bath in beauty.... Nice to hear this! I'd like to know more of how this pairs up with the Rainmaker in particular as both of these modules are increasi...

Can't see around the back of this... is it a mono output or stereo?

EDIT

Ah right! Just seen a show video and apparently it's a single stereo socket (requiring a split lead for most uses)... at least that was the case on that prototype.

I think what the OP is looking for is somewhat broader than industrial. Yeah, I got that impression as well. I've never felt comfortable with genre defining every last expression of art. Glad you mentioned This Heat. Their two main studio albums where phenomenally good... ditto for Pere Ubu's first...

Outfits like the aforementioned Throbbing Gristle and especially earlier Cabaret Voltaire (while Chris Watson was still on board) had a strong impact on me in my youth. I seem to remember a member of TG saying that "Industrial" also referred to the activity of being creatively self supporting and 'i...

Just a couple of months away from 60 here. Fortunately, I'm doing well for my age in most respects... the main concern is further degradation of hearing acuity over time, but it's still very good and I fiercely protect it these days from any potential damage from excess noise situations. I'm just lo...

I'm casing up 30+ Analogue Systems modules which are noticeably free of LEDs, only showing up where necessary such as LFO rate and envelope trigger indicators at small size and low intensities. These modules sound great as well.

.... Polyphonic aftertouch interests me. In general, I don't use aftertouch often on keyboards. I usually use velocity for expression, which to me is more traditional. I also find that I have trouble really controlling aftertouch on my keyboards and values go from zero to 60 rather quickly. Regardl...

No love for the Korg Prophecy? I’m in love with mine. Had it since new and never had an issue with it apart from a couple of loose outputs. Turn the effects off, put it through some outboard and it can sound fat as hell! The MOSS synthesis system is very adaptable and, to my ears anyways, can do ev...

So many digital synths knocking about at great prices. It's easy to forget/overlook the sonic potency of simply MIDI layering two digital/rompler poly synths, or even better, the same linkage with an analogue and a digital/rompler poly and marvelling at the arresting effectiveness of the results. Yes, it would be nice to see more adventurous ideas coming forth by now, say, something like the Flame Maander filterbank/sequencer section idea sunk into the front panel of something like the Grandmother, Matriarch, Minilogue type of all analogue format ... for starters. Better still, this into a f...
