Thanks, MM56.

Although there’s a historical chapter with some of the information that appears in Vintage Synthesizers, this is an entirely new book with lots about modular synths.

Sorry, I didn't intend my earlier posting of a simple link to seem clandestine. Please check it out: http://www.namm.org/thenammshow/2014/hot-zone/state-21st-century-synthesis-panel . Should be lots of fun and very revealing, and my new book The Synthesizer http://global.oup.com/academic/product/the...

Isn't this the format of the first modules Dieter Doepfer built? This is true. When I interviewed him in January 2010, Dieter Doepfer told me he first learned about analog synthesis by fixing the Moog Modular Hot Butter (a.k.a. Stan Free) used at one time to record "Popcorn." Dieter requested schem...

I love the way slight visual distortion in the first video makes the OH lights dance. And the music, of course, rocks as well. Outstanding!

I lost track of Felix Visser after writing about his Syrinx in 2005. This was his own personal synth: https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/userpix/1766_visser_syrinx_1.jpg In March 2005, Felix was working on a museum in Holland called Elektryseum. He wrote: "I'm looking for some old Synton stuff (modul...

Good question, Zeno. I ordered the 1490 without the foam, then realized I needed it and ordered it after the fact — which cost about $40 more than it would have if I'd ordered it along with the case. When the three layers of foam arrived, I cut them to fit around the hardware and glued ...

Sorry, you're absolutely correct, skkater. And I didn't mean to imply anything scurrilous with the one-fifth categorization. Irish, English, Scottish, French, German, that be my lineage. Pardon me now while I get out my liter of Redbreast to go with my Guinness. (Okay, it's only 750 ml.)

Sometimes, but not always because -- as you know -- the analog Serge timbres can be so wicked and twisted on their own, or sweet and bright, and anything in between. What I haven't tried...
