Re: Fixed Filter Banks - Long-term use, same-y results?

I had the FXDf for a while but got rid of it in a shuffle. For the way I was using it at the time I realized I could use a bandpass filter and a sequencer to get similar results. However, now that I have a Doepfer a-138m matrix mixer and am experimenting more with feedback I find myself wanting a fi...

Re: More CVs into DFAM

Hi Finally I got my DFAM, great stuff - but I badly miss an input on the machine. A CV input allowing me to control/modulate the "VCF EG Amount". Why, oh why, did that input not made it into the design? Do you have a modular outside of the DFAM? If so you could use an external (DC coupled) VCA. Set...

Re: I love Vermona

Apparently there were some slight changes to the VCA circuit for the '15 to reduce noise. Which do you have? I’m considering buying the pre 15 for $250. Yeah for $250 absolutely go for it! I got the 15’ recently for $350 and absolutely love it but I can’t imagine the sound is that different between...

Re: Prophet Rev 2 Desktop...or similar

I was looking at either the Rev 2 Desktop of a Novation Peak and I went with the Peak primarily because it is slightly narrower and would fit in a standard carry on bag. At the time I bought it I was doing a collaboration with a choreographer in Beijing and wanted a hardware synth to use in rehearsa...

Re: I love Vermona

I just got the Mono Lancet 15' in the mail yesterday - it sounds awesome and looks/feels fantastic. The size is great too. I'm thinking about doing a DIY expander for it but I'm pretty bad a soldering so maybe I'll go for the Modular Dock. I wish they made a smaller version of the dock without the ...

Re: Resettable LFO options

Doepfer a-147-2 is fantastic and is what I use. The older version - the a-147 - can be found for cheap if you just want the resettable lfo (the a-147-2 also features an attack envelope and a vca).

Re: Looking for a builder? Post here!

I'm looking for someone to build a DIY breakout for a Vermona Mono Lancet 15. I'm in the U.S. (Detroit). Here's the thread for info:

Re: I love Vermona

I broke down and ordered a Mono Lancet '15 off of Reverb. I'm excited! My only previous experience with Vermona was the Vintage Spring Reverb which sounded excellent (and looked great too). I had the VSR on an effects send on the mixer - it was a lot of fun for feedback mixing as well as classic spr...

For people who own the Mono Lancet or the Perfourmer - how would you characterize the filter? Is it closer to Moog or Roland or something else?

Re: Starthief's Eurorack adventure, 2016-???

VCFQ is an amazing filter. Definitely my favorite both in terms of sound and patch-programability. I think you're right that the filter 8 and vcfq will have some overlap but the vcfq has a huge amount of vibe and eccentricity.

Re: Modular for bass studies

I would pick a midi interface that had a clock out as well as gate/cv - you'll need this to sync Pam's with your computer/external sequencer. The Intellijel Midi module has a couple of clock outputs as well as a reset and run/stop. Actually there are several ways to approach this (expert sleepers, s...

Re: Serge ÷NCOM Comparator vs...?

You can get VC divisions from the Sport Modulator, so I wonder if that'll work with the SSG too :hmm: VC divider/ cascaded dividers/ suboscillators- put 1 section of the SM in HOLD mode and set it to CYC- LE. clock it with an external LFO or VCO or some- thing. the END out is now a variable divisio...

Does anyone have experience with a-541 2ch balanced line out w/ meters? Or if not, with any of the modules in the metered line out family? Re: Recommend me some Eurorack Analog Effects

NLC 329 Phase/Flange is an incredible phaser module. It sounds really unusual - similar to the Haible Tau phaser to my ears - and with lots of cv inputs. Highly recommended.

Re: Mutable Instruments Braids vs. Plaits

I have Braids and have never felt the need to switch for Plaits but they both have their own advantages I think. Plaits has more parameters to modulate, is smaller, and has the really nice lpg emulation. Braids has a built in quantizer and some other “under the hood” features like adjusting bit rate...

Re: a-152 Issue?

If it's not dodgy jacks, is it possibly a multiplexer failure? I can't remember which chips are in the A-152, but if it uses two 4-way muxes, then it's possible that one is dead (I think there are also 8-way chips, which would make it harder to diagnose why 4 work and 4 don't). Thanks for the reply...

a-152 Issue?

Doepfer is on holiday so I thought I would try here and see if anyone had any clues about this. My A-152 seems to be having a strange problem. The first four jacks of the switch/multiplexer section do not work at all, neither as inputs or outputs. If anything is plugged into those first 4 jacks no s...

Re: Unveil your secrets

Doepfer a-189-1 bit crusher. Sub-£100 bit crusher which can get a range of weird sounds out of audio signals, from aggressive distortion to ring mod type sounds to white noise-y mess. Small and cheap and I'm amazed it isn't more popular. The a-189-1 is such a great module! In addition to audio it’s...

Re: Rene's Eurorack Journal ~

Are you feeling that the a-138m is still worth the space? I’m deciding between the AI Synthesis matrix mixer and the Doepfer one and while I’d much prefer the bipolar design I’d have to shift things around quite a bit to fit the Doepfer (meaning I’d have to sell some modules).

1. NLC 329 Phase/Flange - Ridiculous sounding 10 Stage Phaser. 2. NLC Sauce of Unce - Source of Uncertainty Clone with the access to the noise sources on the front panel. Super musical random source 3. NLC Bindubba Sequencer - Similar idea as Rene (I think the original version predates Rene actually...

Thanks for the responses! kpreid - I rarely use analog sources with logic although I do use XOR logic at audio rates quite a bit, but I tend to use square/pulse waves. I see what you mean though. If I were to use two CV sources and use the output to trigger a LPG the results would be quite different...
