Re: Noob question: simplest way to create ducking/sidechain effect?

using a filter instead of a vca might be fun too, just check it closes 100%. could even just ride the cutoff manually...

Re: Noob question: simplest way to create ducking/sidechain effect?

I think the term sidechain is confusing people, as a sidechain normally ducks a signal in response to another one... in your case the other signal doesnt exist (yet). I think the idea to get a VCA and some sort of function generator separately is a good one. an envelope generator is a type of functi...

Re: i go to dark places...

its a nice way to work in my opinion, very fast to lay down a track and most of the work is done! just some slight tweaks, reverb etc to taste and then start a new one :)

Re: Filter Hunt

i love to set the notch to around the middle somewhere and send the bandpass output through a delay, crank the res and then sweep that cutoff, such good spaced out phasery sounds

Re: i go to dark places...

Man I listened to your other tracks, you have a real interesting universe here :) How do you work your tracks? Single live take? Layering? Lots of edits, or just taking the happy accidents? Thanks, I am a bit of a weirdo :) I usually just record a live take from my modular into the PC and then give...

Re: Reverb module for techno kick

I'm not sure I'd use a reverb to "fatten" a techno kick. You end up with this kinda space-y tail that has more mud than body. May I suggest a slow attack compressor? i think its fairly common in techno to use a filtered reverb tail sidechained to the kick to create a sub bass in between kicks, i.e....

Re: WMD Multimode Envelope - I haven't heard much from anyone?

on paper its the best but i seem to find myself using more simple ones usually. find it kind of hard to dial in the right amounts of things changed my mind now, if im after a very specific sound then the MME is really the only envelope with enough options to dial it in perfectly! got 3 now and want...

Re: Getting rid of almost all my effects modules...

Indeed I love clockable delays! The master clock is already coming from Ableton most of the time, so the vsts sync no problem. I guess I can always use disting if i need a delay in the rack. You are right that not having delay/reverb at all is less fun, so if I don't wanna plug in the whole system ...

Re: Getting rid of almost all my effects modules...

I got rid of all my effects and use plugins now too, with the sole exception of some clockable delays that make everything a bit more fun to play with. not sure i would be down with not having any delays at all to play with while recording!
