Steve Reich - Four Organs

I am trying to better understand the “rules” of Four Organs as someone who doesn’t really read sheet music. I think I understand the basic concept but not the details. Basically the four organs are deconstructing and stretching a dominant eleventh chord by playing various notes within the chord and ...

You all inspired me to give it a shot. In Eurorack format, driven by XOR NerdSeq which helps immensely for doing patches like these. Using the advice above I made a trigger sequence with 96 tracks and copied that to a second sequence that reset at 95. I took some liberties. https://www.instagram.com...

Great aesthetic! I’m a big fan of using nixies, dekatrons, etc. in my own DIY stuff.

I saw Bell Witch recently on tour with Yob. They were great. I tend to lean towards more standard doom myself but I do think Bell Witch are excellent and I like the diversity under the doom umbrella. Since I haven’t explored much funeral doom... If you were pressed to do a funeral doom best of compi...

My EML-500 was the synth that got away. Having had many vintage synths it’s really the only one I miss and the one I have the least likelihood of ever owning again. It was quirky as hell and nothing else sounded like it. As much as I would like to own one again (or a 101) I feel they are way overval...

I do realize there is a great deal of difference from vactrol to vactrol. Maybe I need to just buy and sell optomix modules until I find one I’m happy with but that’s a pain.

Since people are pipe dreaming, I maintain that a fully modern “e” interpretation of a stand-alone easel type instrument could be amazing.

Mine arrived the same way. Should be a disconnected ribbon cable. Kinda silly and stupid but it’s an easy fix. Great machine!

I picked up an old 2x12 fender cab with newer Eminence speakers that can be attunated. I'm just gonna get a decent head and try the speaker attenuation to turn down the volume a bit but drive the head reasonably loud.

I appreciate the ideas. I'm half thinking just getting a capable head and a 2x12 or 4x12 and sometimes just playing at less volume. I've just heard that tone can suffer doing this. I've come across some low wattage Sunn Model T clones but they are pricey. Still, might be what I need. I'm more of a b...

Doom / Drone metal practice amp

I'm getting back into playing guitar after not playing for years. I'm wanting to explore slower, doomy and drone metal style. I realize that this genre is all about playing loud and I do intend to have get a big amp and cab (leaning towards a V4 and maybe Marshall 4x12 cab). But I can't always play ...

The Super Controller panels are on the way to Synthcube. PCB is still being designed, awaiting panel to finalize. The panel is very similar to the design posted before just some minor changes for some added functionality Bill is incorporating. We will set up a separate thread for that project when i...

Bump for PCBs and panels are available through Synthcube now. I've got parts on order for mine. Once it's built, I will try to post a demo of some sort and maybe a build doc if I am feeling ambitious.

For the noise I much prefer the SN controller actually, is it possible to mod the sn voice for same ranges and behaviour? The designs differ significantly enough and use the VCO of the SN76477 in different ways (as a VCO on the SN Voice, as a noise clock on the Super Controller) that I don't think ...

New panels should arrive at synthcube within the next week. I'm very excited about the updates to this project. Now it is thin and skiff friendly. No wiring required, so it is a much easier project. Super fun arcade voice! I'm not sure what the ETA is on the new PCBs but here are some pictures from ...

Yeah and be careful. If you are running your HV supply off of your 12v supply you should be relatively safe. YMMV
