Re: Dave Smith hint of a new synth coming up in August

I own an OB6 Glad I'll never have the Prophet-5 vs. Prophet-6 dilemma  Nooo you want that Prophet 10 to accompany the OB6 No indeed! I meant, if one already owned a P6 (having debated between P6 and OB6 as many do) you might be torn about whether to ever buy a P5 given you already had a P6. I'...

If they get the price right it reckon a TR6s is a far more attractive proposition than the RD6. That said it's so cheap you might as well get both
It's almost perfect, not quite. I crave separate outs!
Might have them over USB at least. Not sure.

Re: Roland TR-06, TR-6s, TR-606 (cloud)

asked for the boutique 606 years ago....legit sent emails and hit them up on multiple networks. they kinda blew it in terms of timing as the rd-6 is shipping and is half the cost. without playing either i have more faith in the roland units sequencer. If they get the price right it reckon a TR6s is...

Re: How long before your brain forgets a sound ?

I decided to explore the music of Stockhausen once and bought some CDs (it was a while ago). I put one on and settled down to listen. Soft ambient white noise. This is interesting, I thought. Look at me! So sophisticated, listening to Stockhausen. So clever how he manipulates the seeming randomness ...

Some folks seem to remember how analog gear they used in the 80s sound well enough to be able to claim that modern clones sound nothing like the original. So, 40 years at least?

Re: Tasty Chips Electronics GR-1

I'm curious but maybe I'm missing something. Isn't a dedicated harware granular machine suppose to have an audio in so you can record directly sounds and process them? Isn't this the main reason you would like to have this in hardware and not as a plugin? Just being able to play with your gear and ...

Will NI "plus" the Komplete Kontrol S88 keyboard?

Hello I'm quite attracted to the NI eco-system and the Komplete Kontrol S88 in particular but as a piano player I absolutely don't want to have to always turn on a computer just to get a piano sound and I need that sound ready in seconds. I seriously considered a Kronos back when they came out but t...

Re: Using Clouds module as a guitar pedal

I've never used Clouds so I'm not exactly sure how it might behave with guitar but the recent Microcosm from Hologram Electronics is granular for guitar (and more) from top to bottom https://www.hologramelectronics.com/microcosm I've got one. I'm mostly pleased with it, still exploring. It's one of ...

Re: Para / Poly synth to compliment Euro set up...OB6, Pro 3, P12 experience?

OB6 has no CV/gate but lots of polys don't. It's got sequence start input so that should interface with the Euro. It of course has MIDI.

It's also about to gain MPE support which is pretty cool. See Pym's post. Pym is a Sequential engineer.

Kind of a quiet thread of an interesting looking piece of gear. Either you guys are too busy using it to post or this hasn't reached many people yet. Yeah I've been thinking the same. Maybe people just aren't that sold on granular or granular is a bit niche? Or those that are prefer software? Where...

Most of the big retailers allow returns. So there’s that. You could in effect use them like a library. Yes, it's done. And it's A DISGUSTING PRACTICE! <--intentional shouting I have absolutey NO IDEA why you've turned my post into a personal attack. I made it clear I don't use retailers as librarie...

Re: Would you pay a yearly sub to join a gear lending library?

There's a local bike shop here that has a great try before buy arrangement in my mind. You pay 500 € deposit, they send you a bike, which you can ride for couple of days before sending it back. If you decide to buy the model they send you a new one and the deposit is reduced from the price. If you ...

Before Covid hit, I would stop by Perfect Circuit or ProAudioLA a few times a year just to play ... Yeah that's cool and I've sated GAS before simply by playing for a few minutes even. Two things to note though. First we are now in a post-Covid world and second here in the UK retail space is rarely...

Would you pay a yearly sub to join a gear lending library?

Thinking out loud. There’s so much amazing gear these days, often in competition with similar features, and whilst there are forums like this and lots of reviews and demos online; ultimately you can’t be sure If a piece of gear is right for you until you own it. Furthermore all that deliberation, re...
