Thanks! I'll let him know :hihi:
this is more "2049" than "original" but shows the big kind of sound it can do
Ooh I love Kris Lennox's posts, really interesting musician and synthesist. I've never seen that one. Thanks

The last version of the MV software (version 3.5) also included pattern mode as well as other goodies like TR style drum programming. In addition, the MV has an excellent MIDI sequencer and can sync to all kinds of devices via midi clock and midi time code. Plus digital audio outputs. It’s only dow...

Cool, doesn't need to be MIDI as long as i can make full tracks on it..... Hmm ... haven't tried. The Elektron demos on their site sound very complete but demos often do. Look into the pattern chaning and song modes, see if they suit you. It has 8 voices including samples. Basically samples layer o...

Analog RYTM samples (in mono) and has analogue filters

It's more than a drum machine but not quite a 'groovebox'. No MIDI sequencing

The Fantom lives! The last version was a bit of a dog's dinner. Reviews were mediocre. It'll run head to head with Montage and Kronos. Speaking of the latter, that's due a successor. Theatres, musical directors, composers and places of worship buy these boards. It's a way bigger market than us nerds...

Nice!

They were notoriously unreliable so not surprised it's on the fritz but well worth restoration.

No idea how you'd get it repaired in Hawaii but hey, you've got great weather and beautiful beaches so, you know, swings and roundabouts and all that

Good luck!

PIA to setup (I have near PTSD from the sound of the hex key dropping on the floor repeatedly). Especially if you're someone like me who likes to rearrange things often. Hahahaha, so true. I ended up strapping the hex key to my wrist :) Jaspers stuff is awesome. Extremely robust and solid but yes a...

Re: Sonicstate attending London product launch. What is it?

Are [X] about to finally drop a proper [Y] and smoke the competition out of the water? That equation is false. There are already great, ”proper” products in every category so there will never again be ”one to rule them all”. And that is a good thing; we are more spoiled for choice than ever. indeed...

I didn't catch the livechat, but surely the Boutique series is finished? It's been two years since the D-05 and the whiteface SE-02 was cancelled due to lack of orders. Good fuckin' riddance. Hopefully the people behind this cynical and insulting move were sacked too. We thought the Airas were bad,...

Ha. I'm old enough that I read that as SH-2... That said my point stands - no new Boutiques for two years is a long time. An altogether different beast! I have one sat behind me in fact. Yes agreed, presumably the boutique series has come to a conclusion. Oh, I've remembered now ... the chat was ar...

I think the boutique SH201 was a gag. The SH201 is a nasty VA that came out a while ago

Sonicstate attending London product launch. What is it?

Hello This is rumour control ... At the beginning of this week's SonicTalk Nick said there'll be no show next Wednesday because they're attending a London product launch. There was talk in the live chat of something from Roland, possibly an analog polysynth, though I didn't quite catch it and it mig...

Eurorack

Too expensive, too fiddly, too complicated. Only makes music for house plants.

Just teasing with the last point but I do mean the others!

There's some amazing stuff done with it but it was wasted on this schmo :tu:

Do you know what? I’m happy about this. Do you know why?

Because I haven’t had to put up with months of hype.

“Hey, Behringer made an MS20 clone. It’ll fit in a Eurorack enclosure.”

“Great, looks good.”

“Shipping soon.”

“Good stuff. I’ll get on with my life now.”

Thank you all

I got a Veils in the end. Not really the cheapest or most direct! But I didn't realise a VCA would do it (relative noob), it'll come in handy later anyway and ... well I just like Mutable stuff :)
