Re: What's Your pick for a standalone, sub $300.00 usd, used or new, synth

I got a barely used Dreadbox Typhon for less than $300. I think it’s a great little standalone box. I love the sound of the oscillators, filter and FX. Knobs where they’re needed and a very easy to navigate menu for the rest. The sequencer is pretty easy and fun to use and can be powered from a powe...

Re: New Oberheim OB-X clone from Abstrakt Instrument

Has anyone heard from these guys in the past month? I had to ask for a refund because of urgent repairs to my house. I've not heard back in two weeks and now I am sending them an email every day. I didn't commit through kickstarter, I had paid in full through their website. Maybe that was my bigges...

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon

Been having so much fun playing this synth that I’ve decided to grab a 2nd one!

Only bummer so far is when I decided to update from 1.0 and realized that I can’t with my old Mac running 10.13. Will have to wait until my son is done with school for the day so I can borrow his Windows computer.

Re: FX AID - multi audio effect module

Getting ready to purchase a Zvex Lo-Fi junky but I see that this unit has modeled it. How close is it? Edit: oops my bad. I just realized that this was very recently implemented. It doesn't have the different waveshapes, but having had the real thing I think it otherwise pretty much nails it. I wou...

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon

Dreadbox has said that the LED faders will illuminate in a future firmware update. Perhaps not this forthcoming update, and I am fine with that, as there are many more pressing issues to be addressed. Thanks Adam, good to know! I managed to grab a used Typhon and should have it Monday. Would you mi...

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon

I was initially turned off by my assumption that this synth would be a pain to program by the looks of it, but after finally checking out some demos I’m pretty blown away by the sounds and easy navigation. Silly question, but are those led faders? If you mean in the lower right area of the Typhon w...

the black body ones are panasonic, but i dont think the green body ones are. can you post a picture from the other side? they look like 12mm duals. thats a common size, so a number of manufacturers make something that might work. Re: Potentiometer search

The "A1M" means it has a value of 1 megaohm, with an "A" taper (logarithmic aka audio taper). The shaft shape is "D-Shaft". You could measure the length of the shaft, and get a better look at the footprint of the part connecting to the PCB, and look on mouser.com or digikey.com for something with t...

Re: How do you feel mid-2020 about cv-equipped (and MIDI to an extent) instruments with your eurorack modules and approa

Pro 2 was what got me interested in modular and I used that quite a bit to modulate/control and process modular things. Super flexible and easy to route the 4 voices, envelopes and lfos out. I really enjoyed running other VCOs through the filters too. It was kinda fiddly patching cables in the back ...

Those new noise features sound cool. That video is 5 months old so maybe that new firmware will be available soon!

My Manther has been running nice and smooth since I did the fresh reinstall. Finally learned how to transpose sequences and having a blast with it.

I really do enjoy playing this thing and find it inspiring! Been playing with it around t...

Re: new Malekko Grooveboxes!

Recently picked up a used Manther (1.2fw version installed) here on MW. It’s pretty fun and been enjoying the sound, but it does crash/freeze frequently when using the sequencer (internal, analog and midi.) I was kind of hoping that by buying a used/tested Manther that I might have a better chance o...

Ah well, thought someone might have run into this same problem and there’s some magical trimpot or something that I could adjust to fix the problem:) I did reach out to Acidlab, but haven’t heard back. Will probably try to fix it eventually, but the lack of OH decay is not really bothering me so far...

Re: Good synth to pair with a Digitakt?

I recently picked up a used Modor nf-1m and have been sequencing it with my Digitakt/Keystep. Not multitimbral, but super compact, solid build, and sounds great. Unique features and oscillator choices too. Seems like people compare the sound to older Waldorf stuff a lot.
