Re: stillson mk3
I missed this thread, but wandered over to this side of the forum to see if anything was new. I had heard about this in passing before. The shot of the screen that shows you a level for each step is what I really found missing from the mk II. Dang. He's killing it with the mk III line.

Re: Verbos - customer support
The dedicated Verbos thread has a lot of love for the modules abs not as many complaints. It would seem ordering from them is a crap shoot. You might get a good module or you might get a dud. And if you get a dud it might be hard to get it serviced.

Re: Case Dilemmas
I would try to consolidate a bit. There's a fine line. But the issue I would have with this (other than potential grounding issues between cases which for the most part I have not experienced) is that there's too many rows that are facing up, which places the vertically oriented case way too deep (o...

Re: Verbos - customer support
Another alternative to the HO is the Dreadbox Antiphon. Far from a direct replacement. But I may just have to be happy with having it instead of the HO. It would be great if it had a VCA per oscillator built in but I suspect that might change the price point.

Re: Verbos - customer support
Damn every time I see this thread it's such a bummer. The only module of theirs I've had is the Harmonic Oscillator and I really miss it. Now I've gotten into Buchla, and it looks like he's still making his 4U one as well. But it's like 3 times the cost of the euro version and combined with the pote...

Re: 500 Series: Compressors and EQ’s for Electronic Music Production
I guess while we're discussing this it might be worth commenting on the most bang for the buck cases. Or chassis? Is that what they're called? I went with the Lindell 510 Power MK II. Seemed to be a reasonable investment but maybe folks here know better.

Re: 500 Series: Compressors and EQ’s for Electronic Music Production
I started a 500 series system before the world ended, but then I got sidetracked with building a bunch of modules to get me through the armageddon. Ha, so basically, I only have a pair of JLM LA500s. But to me, they sound very good. Ha I try them on everything.... because they're all I have. Ha but ...

Re: Rossum Electro-Music Assimil8or
Ableton is not great for prepping these samples. Check out Audacity. It’s free. Works for Mac and PC I believe. For basic sample prep work it’s pretty good. Reaper is also excellent; $60ish, free demo, extremely good for rendering large groups of samples and such (also features batch processing. ca...

Re: Speed/decay-tail of VTL5C3/2 (particularly Xvive)
Oh, just after paying I got on offer from Phoenix, who are at 3/4 of the Au Ling price.. Did you try out the new vactrols? I am having similar behaviour with my 292c with Xvive vactrols so may need to swap them out. I just swapped mine out with Excelitas vactrols I snagged off of the "Buchla Users ...

Re: Patchbay appreciation thread
I picked up a patchbay a few weeks ago and until today I had not had time to get it set up. This thread jogged my memory so now I'm in my little home studio going through it. One question - previously I had my effects chain (mostly a bunch of guitar pedals) set up on my Focusrite 18i20 by using an ...

Re: Waldorf Iridium
I dunno. I haven’t had any issues with my iridium. Other than dropping it and snapping a knob off. Ha I’m an idiot. That said even without the knob I get around just fine because the functionality of most things is reproduced at several places. Ha still hurt when it happened. Anyways I’ve had no iss...

Re: Power and cases
That’s not a good way to distribute power. Also you don’t want to max out your power supply. Obviously you’re nowhere near that, and theoretically you could power a skiff off the main case’s power. But to do it in a more reasonable fashio would involve making some sort of inlet on either case and m...

Re: Patchbay appreciation thread
I used to never use patch bays because I always had a pretty large count of inputs and outputs on my interface. But running every sound source into a patch bay first, and having all my effects on patch bays, has allowed me to be more creative with less clicking on the computer, troubleshooting and h...

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer
The Vector and Metron are an amazing combo. Right now I have them in separate cases but they do very well in the same case. The Metron took a little while to grow on me but I think once you get the hang of it, you love it. It’s a different work flow compared to the vector, more linear. They complime...

I'm not holding my breath for any new Oberheim stuff, though it would be welcome. I would look at the Abstract Instruments VS-1. It's on my radar for sure.

Re: Octatrack vs. Ableton Live
5 years later.... I am in my second OT, and I still use Live, though still have not become a power Push user. My first OT was a mk I I got in a trade. My second is a mk II I recently picked up. The second time around I’m much more inspired. There are several things I like about the OT over Live, the...

Re: Rossum Electro-Music Assimil8or
I'm probably going to get an Assimil8or soon, and there's some stuff I'm curious about. I love digital FM/PM. Can it do 2/3/4/etc op "FM" stuff if you load in single cycle waveforms? And if so, does it track pitch okay if you use it as an oscillator? It tracks very well as an oscillator. I think th...

This thread is so cool now... "You're clueless" "WTF are you talking about components" "do you not know basic math?" If you’re going to quote, use the quote function. Also out of context, and certainly out of order, these quotes make no sense. Otherwise you’re right, we should coddle members here s...
