Re: anyone go from modular back in the box?
I dont think Ive turned my modular on more than once in the last year or so, coincidentally around the time I did get an MPC Live hah. The MPC just makes things so easy to get going, Im often forgetting the rest of my gear and just using the MPC and my E6400 sampler, next thing I know the track is d...

Re: Akai s6000 in 2020?
I never had a Z8 to compare to the S6000, but the MOC 1000 I use is based on the Z8 engine. What I didn’t like about the S6000 was too many buttons around the screen. The 6 on the MPC and likewise on the Z8 are faster to work with and you end up knowing where to go without looking. Prehaps the 6000...

Re: Akai s6000 in 2020?
Get a SCSI2SD and never worry about storage again! My setup is based around an MPC Live but my main 'instrument' is still my EMU E6400 Ultra. Cant beat that workflow and the weight they bring compared to software synths.. Since mine can read FAT volumes, moving stuff from computer to sampler is as s...

Re: Boss SE 50
Roland/Boss was never really good at heat management in their rack units haha. I have an SE50 and an SE70 in the little rack adapter together and those things get damn hot after a few hours. Never failed though and still used almost every single day. My SDE1000 is another Roland toaster. Those thing...

Well everything I do is MPC Live based, and my EMU 6400 Ultra does most of the actual playing, so yeah still using them until they die.

Re: Favorite 80s rack mount digital reverb?
What, of all of these including the roland srv2000 that was mentioned, is the easiest to use in terms of limited menu diving or access to knobs? I know the DEP5 has knobs on the front panel, but sounds like the SRV is the preferable unit there. Also, re: RV5/7, what is it that makes these still wor...

Re: advice on getting a recording mixer
Soundcraft LX-7! You can pick them up for CHEAP too. I have both a 16 channel LX7 and a newer 24 channel LX7II.. They use a split console design, so everything to the left of the master section has direct outputs, the 8 channels to the right don't.. So if you have a 16 channel, you get 8 direct outs...

ok, yours is the: "not inclouding taxes" price ! makes sense for you, since you´re in the US. Thomann and MusicStore in Germany have it for 2199€. Thats the EU Price and incloudes ofcourse the EU Taxes. I deal with the EU prices as a reference. i don´t expect it to come down in price for the next m...

Re: Doepfer Wasp Filter fried?
Haven't had time to take it out and look at it yet but I think mine died last night after 3 years or so. Turned on the modular for the first time in over a year to test out the new MPC's USB MIDI stuff with my SQ-1. Thing was working great for the first 30 minutes or so, then all of a sudden the Was...

Re: Software (OS X) that can read Akai S1000 CDs /CD ISO
Translator is the only 'current' option really, and honestly I wouldn't waste my money on it. The software sucks and the "company" itself is pretty terrible if you've ever seen the 'owner' engage with customers online. Theres still the old CDXtract, Extreme Sample Converter, Awave, etc.. Kontakt got...

Re: Does anyone make a decent analog console anymore?
Pretty happy with the two Soundcraft LX7s I own so far.. Started with the 16 channel LX7 and just upgraded to a 24 channel LX7II a week or so ago. Now I have direct outs on the first 16 channels, the other 8 on the right side of the master section act as my fx returns so I can bus those to the group...

Re: What is the BEST DELAY for you, what sounds Best???
My toolbox Boss SE-50 - the delays get really dirty really quick when you need it that way Boss SE-70 - great Swiss army box all around Roland SDE-1000 - my 'dub' delay. This goes into its own mixer channel and feeds back into its own send. Dub madness just by turning up the channel fader. Lexicon M...

Re: Plasmonic: new VST from the creator of Absynth
I actually like that GUI whether its a prototype or not. Its a hell of a lot easier to see what's going on than Absynth's hahaha. Im curious about the synthesis style though.. Its a physical modeling thingy but I hope the goal and intent is to continue Absynth's style of alien textures and what not....

Re: Plasmonic: new VST from the creator of Absynth
So Brian is no longer working on Absynth?? Wonder if he was one of the laid off folk a few months back, or maybe this is why we haven't had an update for it in ages heh. I miss the old Absynth 1/2 days when he was the one doing the tech support on the old Yahoo mailing list. Not really using my comp...

edit 2: song mode or arranger? has anyone found this out yet, whether it's available on the One? The MPC has always had a song mode AFAIK. Its an MPC, the OS in it is no different then the Live or X. The 'Arrangement' mode was never promised to the MPC, as of right now all anybody knows is it belon...

Re: Akai MPC One
I rather guess that a lot of people this MPC is aimed at have a workflow that doesn't require more outputs. For example if you use it entirely standalone with nothing else it's fine. Or if you use it together with a computer and DAW it has all those advanced exporting options. But if you want to us...

Re: question about Nord Modular
The obvious advantage is having a standalone hardware synth with Nord Modular (to a lesser extent with Micro Modular). If that does not matter to you, Reaktor or perhaps VCV Rack would be the route to take for me. Why the "to a lesser extent" with the MM? It's just as standalone as any of the other...

Fighting the urge to get a 2020 present to myself and get an MPC Live, I go through something around every decade where I REALLY want a MPC. Alright, how come no-one ever told me about the MPC live, and that i should get one? Because I did, and it's amazing. Super intuitive for me, it just makes sense - I was able to start throwing together drum tracks really quickly. But... why the fuck did they forget to add time signature choices to ...
