Re: Building up components inventory - how to do DIY without always buying full kits???

I'm in the same situation, I've built a few kits and now sourcing parts I only use Mouser (specific, ICs, good capacitors, switches, critical parts etc), Tayda (sockets, resistors, diodes, transistors, non critical parts), and Thonk (jacks, pots). But on the contrary to what other said, I've gathere...

Switches equivalence (mountain)

Hello,  I would like some help to define / understand some stuff about switches.I'm currently sourcing parts for R*S kits, and in their BOMs they advise to use Mountain Switch.Aside from the limited supply of these switches, I read that there's better quality switches out there, like C&K or NKK. But...

Re: Random*Source Resonant Equalizer... or?

Btw: I think the new Res EQ -built version only- has SMT caps? if you want styrene, you have to build it. Still, even with smd caps you will get this wild sound. Caps change the tone a bit but it really is enthusiast shenanigans. (I built it with styrene)

Supposedly more kits for this, I've emailed R*S earlier this year but no idea when. And with what happened ...
I hope there will be more ...

Re: random*source love

Having the same feeling as windchill, I plan on building the whole R*S range, completed by some modules (again, same reason as windchill I'm doing it in Euro). Here are a couple of pure Serge/Random*Source recordings. Enjoy! https://soundcloud.com/user-750233473/tracks :zombie: Great great sounds I...

Re: Is the Alpha Juno 2 really that tedious to program without the PG-300?

I have one, with no controller. It's fairly ok, you can use it without it, but having a controller would make things much faster. If you like the DX7II you're really going to like this one. On a side note, i think I prefer it over the 6-60-106 serie because it has more parameters, more compact, etc....

I really like to do this too. Pondering on getting one of these or another serge diy. They said this one is limited but what does that mean?

Already have a A+B*C which can do.. quite some things including a mixer and attenuverter. Thus why no maths. And planning to use DUSG for audio rate. And SSG for ... well what it does, learning it I guess. As for the joranalogue, sure it is a contender but as dumb as it sounds it’s no diy and I like...

Hahaha. Alright. I just had this idea, I’m not as technical as you. Too bad! Guess I’ll have to save for a bark filter. And a multistage? Back to the initial topic, about to change my initial choice and might pick a DUSG kit and ... an SSG kit. Those two will add a lot to the 0-coast. Ill just take ...

I was only talking about Doepfer oscillators! TZ capables or vanilla. Also as for filter I'm definitely set on getting serge too. I'll slowly build all this. Too bad I wasn't confident enough in my building skills earlier, I should have bought a Benjolin. That's another module that is interesting, I...

Hi again! oldenjon, there's a lot of oscillator offering in eurorack for sure, but as luketeaford said, NTO is delivering exactly what you'd expect from an analog oscillator. I even prefer it to AJH or moog clone oscillators because it doesn't have that somewhat muddy fatness the moog-style oscillat...

Alright, saying this about a function generation module isn't the most clever thing but I was mostly talking about the filters and FXs. For a small setup it's very good, it's feature packed for sure, their shuttle system is very good, but for example the filters doesn't have that core flexibility th...

Yes indeed, I actually like that Doepfer offers "1 function per module" I guess make noise have their own idea of doing their thing and want to build a cohesive range of module to build a system. When I think of super modules I think about Zadar or even well Grand terminal could be this too. Expensi...

Hi again. : ) I take my time to think about what I want. I'm quite torn between what luketeaford says and what oldenjon says. On one side I agree with luke, it's about making something musical, and in practice, it probably won't bother me. On the other side, well, oldenjon still have a point, and co...

luketeaford: You are right, Serge isn't the only brand to have voltage differences with other brands, and envelopes, well I rarely use them at full blast too, but what about triggers? Or when using DUSG as oscillator, will it be significantly lower volume than another euro oscillator? I'll have to c...

I would think I'd got so much infos so thanks again. I recently thought about getting a DUSG. I like versatile function generators. But after some rethinking i just got the Endorphin.es Terminal (already have a Grand Terminal in another rack). I really like Endorphin.es products as I said in first p...

Thanks for the explanation, you really know some things about this ... I already knew about Serge in general, but not all those technical details. I quite like the fact that you can do multiple things with 1 modules. It opens up creativity, I can see that on luketeaford's instagram, often comes up w...

In general, I really like that the Serge modules almost always have attenuverters for all CVs, which I have found makes modules much more immediately "playable." Also I guess Serge is more about useful features than "a lot" of features? I have both rampage and maths, as well as other envelope gener...

Also:
Does anyone here have been full DIY for Serge? Sourcing parts and all, to lower costs even more. If I plan on doing some of them, maybe all, I should buy PCB / panels and source / buy "in quantity"

Hello everyone, I've been thinking about this, and watching more videos about Random*Source products. First off, about Maths. I said I am not interested in it, it's a good module but indeed, attenuverters aside (which I have), Rampage has more functionality. Thanks for suggesting Falistri, which IMO...

I'm surprised the STO gets more praise than the NTO. They have somewhat similar timbre but one is two times cheaper than the other indeed... I haven't found another oscillator I like on thonk. Maybe Even VCO from Befaco, seems good but too "simple"; more like an alternative to Intellijel i'd say Out...

Serge DUSG / Rampage - Serge NTO / MN STO

Hello everyone, I have a hard time making a choice; context: i'd like to expand my 0-Coast. I already have a Belgrad and a+b*c from Befaco. From there i'd like some stuff including another oscillator and function generator. I'm hesitating between 2 modules for each function: R*S Serge NTO or Make No...
