Re: Intelljel Metropolix

Well... I just broke down and ordered one. Between this and beads it hurts, but I've been putting off a proper pitch sequencer for a while. I have a voltage block but this is obviously a completely different thing. The button combos on Quadrax don't take long to learn and are really intuitive, I'm ...

Re: the DIY cases thread!

Yea the transformers in PSUs are made with glue which can, I guess, break down or not be good enough from the start. I had one in an old Roland S760 that made a super loud whining noise and I was told by a tech that it's the transformed vibrating and it can be dipped in something (glue or wax?) and...

Re: the DIY cases thread!

When you say your units are humming, you mean the PSU unit itself is actually putting out sound, but the audio signals from your modules don't have the hum? It could be that its using a core or shell type transformer with a sketchy or inexpensive quality (either design or build) that is making it a...

I'd get an active version Why would this need to be active? You can lose some voltage when multing CV signals with a pass...

Soon soon soon.
Yep, same here. My plans of staring out the window all day waiting for the mail are ruined.

I'll be keeping my Metropolis and still getting this. Haha. Cause I totally need another old module in a box in the closet. Maybe selling is the right idea.

Re: Mutable Instruments Beads (Clouds 2)

Real world problems. Trying to decide what will come out of my 12U x 104hp to be able to put Beads in. So far I've narrowed it down to a TTA Z5000 (also have an Echoz and Zverb so this one is a bit redundant) and a 3xVCA or a Telharmonic. I dread decisions like this. I was dreading the same as, des...

On the topic of ITB... you can get the SSL Essentials Bundle for about USD/EUR 50 for a couple of days. That's about USD/EUR 400 discount.
That's a good deal. Is it on their site? I'm seeing normal price. Must. Spend. Money. Haha.

EDIT: Found the coupon code. Thanks!

So this whole thread is going to be about yeah I ordered it or damn I didn’t put my order in on time? Fun. It will be until people start getting them cause they're excited and want to talk about it and there's not a lot more to talk about until we get to play with it. That's a solid amount of fun f...

Yep. Torn between this or the m185. Any owners of metropolis think it’s too menu dicey or just right for immediacy?
It's got an amount of menus I'm personally cool with as they're all "how to module behaves" stuff versus composing and performing stuff. I'm sure others feel different, though.

Re: Ableton Live 11 Announced

NB: Apparently Cubase has a distinguished, pleasing sound engine that sets it apart. Whilst Live sounds a cold in comparison. Still the asymmetrical playful workflow probably makes up for it - if you’re not doing much mixing / mastering. Can’t imagine anyone being happy with that in Ableton. Playin...

I got a few really bad shocks as a kid playing through a Fender Super Reverb that wasn't grounded correctly and it's made me a little paranoid ever since. I have no idea if the same thing can happen outside of the guitar amp world but I'm with the general sentiment here of definitely trying to run s...

For super cheap I use multiple M-Audio Profire 2626s. You can get them for around $125 usually. You need a sort of old Mac to load the software and make sure the standalone mode is setup correctly but don't need it after that.
