Re: Roland Jupiter X

No wait I’m totally wrong , just been playing with some more today , I really like the EP srx. I just needed to use some more of them. Can’t remember which ones I was playing with first , maybe I got mixed up and it was some of the anthology plugins , because some of these sound great. Some of the ...

Re: Roland Jupiter X

‘arcane architectural decisions’ doesn’t sound like Roland at all. My 707 feels like it was designed in 2000. Too bad it’s great because the load times are terrible and the tech is seriously out of date, yet it’s the best groovebox I’ve owned. That’s mainly due t the sound rather than the features ...

Re: Roland Jupiter X

I have 4 boutiques which I like and use a lot, but the tiny controls and limited polyphony really do annoy me at times. I guess the XM will steal a lot of sales from the System8, which used to be the only way to add polyphony and a decent UI to the ACB synth engines. I have five boutiques TR-08, TR...

Re: Waldorf Iridium

how much do you think its really gonna slow do your workflow? I was asking myself the same question and I think one can´t be afraid of this because of maybe 500ms per failed touch/retouch But I think it´s more about a feeling, which honestly I believe it´s the real thing about the experience of own...

Re: SSL Six. New small format mixing desk

Debating picking one up, but i’ve already got a Portico 5017. Different enough to justify, or would the pres and functionality be worth it to replace with the SiX? The pres are nice but not showstoppers next to the Portico or other boutique pres. Depending on taste, it’s probably a sideways move. I...

Grayscale Permutation is a Turing Machine with any number of steps up to 16.
That would be my suggestion.

Re: any advice or critique is welcome :)

I think it sounds good. On the production side the vocal might be a little too dominant in the mix with the beat being somewhat too subdued. Also the beat could include some variation and movement to support the lyrical intent. It's a little rigid. So that the music interplays with your vocals a bit...

Paul Hartnell quick studio tour

I really like the way the Hartnell brothers are engaging with social media, it's great to see their honesty and infectious passion. Orbital are one of the most fun electronic dance music acts I've seen, and they do a lot of it live. really infectious rave music and their timing is that brought about...

Re: Waldorf Iridium

I do worry about a touch screen, I'm not a huge fan. But I imagine it will be passable. I think we're a little bit spoilt by our smartphones. The screen on the Yamaha MODX/Montage (I have a MODX) is nothing like that on my iPhone. It's not bad but it's terrible in comparison; only I don't think it'...

Re: The Tempest Is Dead, Long Live The Tempest

I get why people feel burned, but unfortunately this is true of many of these small companies. It sucks, but as someone who bought a bunch of their stuff second hand, all of then were finished solid instruments. There have been things I didn’t like (Prophet 08 felt cheap, knobs always were weird in...

Re: The Tempest Is Dead, Long Live The Tempest

Roger Linn is apparently working on a LinnDrum 2 - you can see him holding a prototype of it in the picture I posted above. Looks more like an extension/update of the linnstrument vice a new linndrum. Definitely does. Isn't that what you would expect given the direction Roger Linn has taken? makes ...

Re: Anybody make a performance mixer like this anymore ?

I have an MX-1. I mainly use it for the Boutiques I have. It's a lot of fun. Don't be too put off by the plastic, it seems well enough buil for the price. There are two things I don't like too much about it, one more than the other. The main one is the inputs. Only one USB Aira port provides bus pow...

Re: Synthesizers, mixers (SSL SIX), balanced/unbalanced

No. Output modules are a waste of money and rack space. I think this is being a little disingenuous and short-sighted. The community of modular users is prettying diverse from professional mucisians to studios to hobbyists. For some in these categories, output modules offer a nice compact solution ...

Gained appreciation for Peter Gabriel only very recently. Cool vibe going on there... 😎 His early use of the Fairlight speaks a lot to his creativity.
Prescience, he was late to the gestalt but predicted the accessibility here.

Actually I used a similar company to Crown to move Australia. Best way to do it. Just pay the money and get them to do it all. Easiest way.
