I put together a new mini system with once again the 301 as the brain : looper, delay, FX, filters. A mini Ableton Live. I love using it in this context.
Cool!

Re: Rossum Electro-Music Evolution Filter

Looking to pick one of these up. How would this compare to ACL discrete vcf ? Apart from the ACL filter being discrete, ACL has three inputs and four separate output stages 6 dB, 12 dB, 18 dB and 24 dB which are phase shifted. By mixing these you can get different filter types. With the Evolution y...

What drum machine are you using that can't route out the kick on a separate out and keep it from the Main mix? I can't think of one that is restricted like that.
TR-08 and TR-09, unless using USB.

Re: Patch bay questions

- Do you just end up spending hundreds of dollars on more 1/4" cables and patch cables? Are there like "patch bay starter kits" I am not seeing? You can buy TRS cable snakes which can make things easier and cleaner depending on how your rack is set up. I have a combination. Yes agree I use snakes a...

Re: How to keep bass mono?

If you want something for a live situation and you are not going through a DAW then something like https://avensonaudio.com/mid-sider/. If you go into a DAW there are plenty of plug ins that do mid/side processing and if you use Ableton Live EQ8 has mid/side functionality or you could build a rack u...

Re: Patch bay questions

For a different perspective, I have a Samson S-patch plus 48 point 1/4" balanced patchbay. http://www.samsontech.com/samson/products/processors/s-class/s-patch-plus/ A good feature of the Samson is you can configure the normaling from the front with 3-way mode switches. I bought 24 1/4" TRS patch ca...

Re: Expressive E Osmose

I pre-ordered from the Philippines. I don't think shipping will be super expensive, shipping ( from France) to Swiss is IIRC 120€ in the case of the Osmose. which i´d consider to be *super* expensive. i also directly asked for group shippings to make things clear, and the response was that in our c...

Re: Expressive E Osmose

Anyone here who preordered from Australia? I just realised this will be the first ever major synth (with a keybed) that I've ordered overseas. Which means shipping will probably be really expensive (I live in Perth). Also add on import taxes  I guess it will still be way cheaper than buying it...

I thought Randy was responding to Sinamsis' comments about the Roli. . .

The inclusion of 5-pin DIN MIDI on the Osmose is what swung me to pre-order one. :)

The lack of MIDI is an issue, the main reason I'm still thinking about it. I did kinda like the bundled software 'though. What do you mean? It functions as a MIDI controller. Randy might have meant the lack of 5-pin DIN midi ? For me, that omission, and that it looks difficult if not impossible to ...

Blaze Lovelee Dae (20:20 remix) is one of my most prized pieces of vinyl. Actually it's in the Terry Francis mix I posted above which is where I first heard it. As is this other prized piece of vinyl in my collection: https://youtu.be/v46WhVDAJF4 and also this gorgeous cow bell and synth adventure:...

Cirklon. You feel like Jazz Drummer while adjusting randomizations. Or like a chef esp. randomizing the randomization depth with a little with masking Alfredo sauce. Mamma Mia.
Yeah Cirklon is great but I think the OP meant modular sequencers.

Re: What sequencer excells at randomizing?

I really enjoy using the Grayscale Permutation. Each bit has its own output which creates cool polyrhythms and triggers. Everything is extremely hands-on and the visual indicators are boss. Yep Grayscale Permutation is excellent for randomization especially once you get around the Shift, Bits and L...

But I don't understand what the light is doing. Isn't the audio going through one end of the spring and out the other anyway? Isn't the light just an indicator for modulation being done to the audio after its come back out the spring? those are infrared emitting diodes on the one side. on the other...

Re: Ninja Tunes Erica Synths Zen Delay

I love the sound of the El Cap mojo - was the Volante a bit of a dud? The drive is the only thing I'm not sold on with the Zen. The delay and filter sound great and it looks super playable from an ergo pov. The design philosophy is to enable going really lo-fi. The vintage tape delay setting bitcru...

Re: Ninja Tunes Erica Synths Zen Delay

The El Cap is great but It's much tamer (I don't have the Zen, just guessing from the videos). It's a great delay, but not comparable. No Filter, no drive... it's only aimed at being an excellent tape delay, with tons of mojo. It's quite playable but it's 1/3rd of the size of the Zen so once again,...

Re: Ninja Tunes Erica Synths Zen Delay

Going to relisten on headphones as I felt there was a lot of not nice clipping. How's the gain staging for those that have one? How does it handle modular in and back? I just quickly scrolled through that video and at times the input level led is flashing which means it would be DSP clipping. You j...

Clipping? I run mine out of a mixer and back so I just find the right gain staging. My modular goes into the mixer using an nw2s::io. Erica synths say it is designed to work with modular. If you are looking for a reason not to get this there isn't one.

Re: Ninja Tunes Erica Synths Zen Delay

What is the feedback issue again? Love this delay and I think it has the best feedback I've ever heard in a delay. You can effortless get it to feedback really nice real early with the feedback knob half way. At that point it will keep sounding good whatever you do with the other parameters. What I...

Re: Ninja Tunes Erica Synths Zen Delay

Mine has arrived. It really is a feedback machine and you can play it for constant variation. It's as good if not better than I expected it to be. I haven't encountered the feedback issue and I think you have to fairly deliberately try to make that happen.
