Re: What are your favorite set screw / knurled knobs?

I use standard Davies 1900 and Rogans from Thonk mostly but if you are looking for inspiration the knobs section at banzai music is pretty impressive

But it should not destroy any component without IC connected ? No, you must have another problem. If the circuit is all correct powering it without the ICs cannot damage anything, just certain parts of the circuit will be unconnected. You must have a short somewhere, look for tiny solder bridges. U...

@willbloke It probably means that they have kept it at the depot because there is a customs fee. You should get a silver slip through the door in a day or two telling you how much to pay.

Could someone send me a link to the build thread on the 'other forum' mentioned on page 1 please? I've worked most of it out but am unsure of the fretwire / soldering the two keyboard parts and the orientation of the ribbon connectors

Thanks

Hi Nourson and welcome to muffs. The commercially built Lyras have a metal front plate and there are insulating spacers in the BOM for around the thumbscrew touch contacts so as long as you are careful it should be fine. Also you'll be able to check for unwanted shorts with the continuity beep mode ...

@Will The Erica power supply looks a good choice. Where it's marked GND on the pcb that is your 0V for the synth, so that end of the board gives you the +12V / 0V / -12V that you need. The other end of the PCB just plugs into your mains supply (110V US or 220V in Europe) looks to be just two connect...

@cat-a-tonic The 78L05 is 5V whereas the MCP1700 and the bottom one are 3.3V so the bottom one looks like it would work. I don't know details of the circuit though, you don't want it to get too hot

@meronics If I were you I would stay away from anything involving mains voltages just for piece of mind. It's not so much electric shocks, it's something that would cause a fire that I worry about. Also there is the possibility that the power supply could wreck everything connected to it. It's much ...
