Re: Michigan Synth Works Sy.05 VS taktaktak Drumbo
I'd love to hear them compared as well, not the features, but the sound. So far Drumbo demos have left me preferring the sound of SY05 but that might just be poor sound during recording or weak demos in general. The actual thing might sound really good, but it's tough to say at this point. Bumping t...

Re: Pictures of your techno rig for inspiration?
Nice! Yeah, I'd be keen to hear it :-) Not quite the same as Kermit but I recently had a Piston Honda mk3. I did play with slowly and gently evolving the wavetable and sending that signal via an LPG triggered with short envelopes. Sounded very interesting. I sold PH mk3 in order to get a Verbos CO, ...

Re: Best way to use a TR8s to control eurorack
I'm not sure if TR8s can send out MIDI CC values from its awesome motion recording feature. If you can pass that automation via MIDI Out then it might be worth using a MIDI-to-CV converter. Otherwise, I'd personally just start using its trigger-outs, as mentioned above. .

Re: Pictures of your techno rig for inspiration?
For drum voices I have an Erica Sample Drum, Akemie's Taiko, and SY0.5, all great. But lately I've been using the ZPO and Kermit MK3 extensively for strange clangorous percussion hits that evolve over time (and will often record a few minutes of this just hitting on the 2 and 4 downbeat to use in a...

Re: Put your Album Release into this Thread!
I make music with my brother under the name "Kompozyt". We're influenced by many things, some of them being dub, ambient, 90s chillout music and all sorts of techno/dub-techno. This is our new release "Spells". I've built a bunch of custom sequencers and little tools in Max and M4L for the project. ...

Re: Cure for GAS?
Mindfulness is really the answer! Finding space between the impulse (those amazing demos, FOMO, shiny new toy appeal) and the response and conditioning. Also, assessing if the modules you bought in the past on an impulse have given you the use and satisfaction that you thought they would. We're all ...

Re: How can I take my modular to the next level?
I'll just add: 1. I'd focus on using fewer modules at a time. You have a lot of modules...I would use just one or two oscillators at the time but maybe get all the outputs into a mixer/vca/cross-fader (modulate those!), stick into an LPG, apply semi-random gates into the strike on LPG, etc etc. 2. E...

Re: How can I take my modular to the next level?
I would add FXs...I don't see many or any. Delays, Freq shifters, Phasers, Reverbs, etc. FX Aid XL to start with.

Korg should make SQ-1 as a little module. Actually, it'd be pretty straightforward to do a conversion, no?

Re: Eurorack standard desperately needed!!!
I do hate the differening standards in euro. It hurts everyone and benefits virtually no one. It's the main issue for me in this system. For example, I just bought a Voltage Block, which turns out can't reach 10V, so now I need to find an amplifier/attenuator or 8 of them. This ads costs, unnecessar...

Re: Cure for GAS?
I came up with a rule for myself: I wait one month before buying any new gear of significant value. If I still want to buy it after a month and I can afford it, I'm allowed to get it. This usually weeds out the gear that is pure over-hyped GAS vs gear that's deeply appealing to me :-) Try it: Give y...

Re: Knobs Recorders
I got Voltage Block for motion recording. It isn't quite the same, as it's step recording per clock pulse, but it gives you 8 channels of modulations. Flame C-3 mk2 is still on my mind though. I have also recorded knob twiddling nto Ableton MIDI clips followed by ES-9 for MIDI to CV conversion. Work...

Re: Arturia PolyMatrix / PolyBrute coming?
I've been saving up and selling some euro modules I don't use just I can get my first analog poly.
This is an interesting contender besides P6, OB6, Rev2, even P5 rev4. Have I missed anything worth considering in this price range?
Anyone with an experience with Polybrute and P6?

Re: VCAs with Character
Going to ditto bronzebygold as I seem to have the same modules: L-1 tube VCAs (1Ж24Б) is VERY characterful and nice. I have not actually used it as a VCA yet with CV, more like a character module. Make Noise modDemix - I've been on a fence many times with this one, thinking of selling it. Then I pla...

Re: Eurorack output
I'm assuming your speakers are powered either by being active or you're powering them with an amp.
In which case, you just need any of the tens of available output modules (or even an attenuator/mixer will do the job).

Re: ES-9 Sound quality test
Me too :-) Just recently I've compared ES-9 to Rme UCX converters, doing the whole phase cancellation tests. A bit sad. I'm sure in a couple of years' time I'm going to look back and think what a waste of time it was to worry about 0.1% differences while I could be creating music. How I stopped worr...

It's a Buchla 259 style triangle core made with an opamp and a comparator (TL082 and LM311). I can send you some (badly laid out) schematics of the CO core if you're interested. I'd love that but I'm probably too novice to really understand it. But yes please. If you know more about the general des...

Ehem Search feature, people. I literally started like two threads about this in the past two months. BTW - I purchased Voltage Block to do the knob recording thing. Apologies if this is a dumb question...but is is the Verbos Complex Oscillator build on a particular chip (e.g. CEM)? I can't seem to find any information on what the triangle core is based on, so to speak.
