Re: Looking for Filter recommendations!

You want something snappy and liquidy...ssf stereo dipole, filter8, ripples....so Roland-esque filters are probably your first choice. But...but...a lot of other filters will work too, e.g. ladder filters can be snappy and liquidy too. Depends on the vibe. There's a guy here on the forum called Nekt...

Yes. the trim pot is for the Emphasis/Resonance according to the build doc:
"Res trimmer: you can adjust exactly where the Emphasis knob starts to self oscillate. If in
doubt, leave this trimmer in it’s mid position."

Re: Double Sem A-106-5 or Wasp+Sem Filters

What'd did you end up getting ma boy? I'm slightly undecided in going for a pair of Doefper SEM filters for stereo lushness as well to give some warmth to soft-synths and some rich soft harmonic overdrive or going Wasp + SEM, still get the stereo if I need with some differences from each side and mo...

Hi Igor, You're on the roll with these amazing new modules coming out in the past few months! Well done. Q - 2xSAM looks really interesting. Could you elaborate a bit on what's being used in the 5xGain circuit for the amplification? I also wonder if it's low-noise/distortion enough to amplify some ...

Re: Oscillator for "organic" instrument

This! Verbos HO is the most "organic", dare I say "folky" oscillator I've ever heard. No second close. If you're in doubt, check out James Holden's Animal Spirits album. He's got two HOs no less! The verbos harmonic oscillator lends itself to natural sounds very well i think. Just scanning the harmo...

Wow. Great stuff! Thanks Os for listening to requests from customers :) I've been amazed with ES-9 so far - super quiet and clear sound coming from my monitors - by far my fav ES module so far. Es-5 on the way for more outs. For those in the UK - Rubadub and Matttech both have a few last few modules...

I think the link might be broken if you know Max...where would you start? ... I'd start with this: https://www.amazon.com/Step-Adventures-Sequencing-Max-MSP/dp/1732590303 For what's its worth, here is my perspective on max: Only use max/msp when the tool you are looking for doesn't already exist. Thanks all - lots of good advice here that I'll check out. That's right - Ableton + M4L does a lot of the funcionality for free already. Especially, around clip management, sequencing, audio routing, FXs.... M4L plugins are essentially audio and midi processing blocks at the moment, and if I were go...

Know MAX/MSP? I need your advice

Hello Now seems like a good time to stay home, hunker down and learn those things I was hoping to learn, like MAX/MSP. I have an end-goal in mind and it's a track creation and performance environment. I do already a lot of these things in Ableton with M4L but it's not an ideal solution and I would l...

Re: Which modules instantly hooked you with their workflow? Best intuitive and good UX modules?

I might the odd one out here because I love the UI/UX of MN modules, like Optomix or Maths. To me, the weird magical drawings quickly etched into my brain and stay there forever. Every time I see a "clean" faceplate for a MN module I have to keep reading the words to remember where everything is. Si...

Re: Buchla & CV tools (Ableton) - what sound card?

I think Ableton's CV tools and M4L plugins do way more in a much tighter package than Spektro CV Toolkit. VCV Rack is great too - a different beast to Ableton though. Btw I use a MOTU ultralite hybrid mk3 just fine for DC coupling, and a little trick is that the balanced TRS outs combined with a ste...

Strange MIDI loop question for gear

Hi, I've got a strange little MIDI question... Do you know if there's any gear, such as Elektron stuff, which allows for the MIDI from its sequencer to be sent out (and processed e.g. in Ableton in some way) and then come back into the box and play the sounds/samplers/etc.? This is not limited to ju...

I'm basically 90% in the box and have found that with a little practice and insight, very smooth/warm/"analogue"ish and otherwise vibey tones are perfectly achievable with plugins.
Could you talk about the plugins you found suitable for this? cheers

A-160-2 is both Mathematical and Musical via a switch, is that right? Be aware that many dividers are not the same as each other. They typically fall into two camps I call "Musical" and "Mathematical". Musical ones understand the "downbeat" while the Mathematical ones don't. The way you can easily t...

In short, the filter appears to be stuck in a high resonance setting, in that unstable Waspy territory. I've made a video showing this odd...
