Re: Post pics of your guitar/bass/amp/pedal setup!

I've been assembling this pedal board for a while now, with a focus on MIDI control and patchable modulation. I's finally complete and it's a lot of fun. https://www.3amnoise.net/euro_pics/IMG_1235.jpg Under the pedal board is a Voodoo Labs Hex. The pedals which don't have MIDI I/O are connected to ...

Thanks for keeping the boys current! I'll be building another one of these soon. Would it be possible to update the first post of this thread with all of the current build documentation?

Re: ARP 1601 clone Build Thread

Working 100% now. I'm very embarrassed to admit the cause of the problem. I wired the power incorrectly. I had wired the barrel connector to the +15v and 0v of the power output header... I realized my mistake when I discovered that the power switch didn't turn the thing off. I'm gonna ...

Re: ARP 1601 clone Build Thread

Thanks! I'm not worried. I'll poke around with my multi-meter and scope as soon as I have time. It's probably something silly.
I'm super stoked, though. It looks beautiful and all of the controls feel great!. I pre-ordered a Korg/Arp 2600 and I can't wait to use them together!

Re: ARP 1601 clone Build Thread

Finished building this over the weekend. https://www.3amnoise.net/euro_pics/1601_clone-01.jpg Just need to finish calibrating but it seems to be mostly working. Unfortunately the 'Clock Freq' slider doesn't work (LED doesn't light and the slider doesn't change the clock rate) and I'm not sure why. I...

Re: 2 rooms of synths, how to connect it up?

I'm just using a stage box to go to and from synths in another room. This is the one I use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0051I6XRU/ I send clocks and stuff via the 1/4" and I use DIs to run synth audio back into my main room. My MIDI setup is handled via ethernet (I use 3 Alyseum AL-88C units)...

Re: Behringer: practices, ethics, morals and legitimacy.

I choose not to buy Behringer. Except for this occasion, I usually do not comment on Music Tribe brands or products, because my choice is due to personal preference and anecdotal experience. Totally subjective. I do feel like Behringer makes it more difficult for smaller operations to sell their pro...

Re: Mechanical vs Optical rotary encoders

It's also becoming more common to see endless potentiometers (sometimes referred to as 360 pots or continuous pots) on some devices, particularly where it's important to get through a wide range of values in a single turn. Endless pots have their own issues but they tend to be less expensive than ni...

Re: Empress ZOIA Euroburo

That's really cool. I love the pedal version. I imagine I would keep the pedal, as I use it frequently as a way to quickly build unique effects for guitar. I would probably use the euro version as a complex modulation source, more than for the effects and synth stuff that it does.

Re: What sparked your entry into eurorack?

In 2006-7 I met a fellow named Mike Brown, through a mutual friend. He later paid me in pizza, to assemble Frequensteiner face plates onto modules and showed us the prototype for what would become the AFG. I couldn't afford any synths, let alone a modular, at the time but that was definitely the beg...

Mass Drivr is wonderful. I have an Implode module but I prefer the Tone-Loc. Any of the color modules I've used which have trim pots and jumpers on the PCB annoy me because of how difficult it can be to tweak the settings. I have a testing jig, so that I can use my Color Palette 500 modules outside ...

I use a Five12 jack expander, a Hermod and a Mutant Brain and I still feel like I could use more expander. I end up sending the CC and velocity channels to outputs on MIDI>CV converters, even if the thing I'm modulating isn't related to the voice I'm sequencing. The Mutant Brain has no notion of song position. It just sends clock pulses and start/stop/reset gates. That is the case with all of the MIDI>clock devices that I have used.

I made a cable like this. I used a little project box near the plug which connected to the instrument. Inside the project box I had a switch which acted like a pass though (on-off-on DPDT switch). It would pass signal normally in one position and in the other position ground and signal were just con...

I bought a TipTop Z3000 for $20 and I used that a lot, so I considered it a good value. I also sold it for $20, as it didn't seem right to try to get more than I paid for it. I built some modules which were just a handful of parts behind a panel (and by panel I mean a piece of scrap PCB or metal). C...
