CGS Serge Preamp Detector w/ Comparator Mod
Looking for a way to add the Comparator/Gate section of the STS Animate PRNV to the CGS504 Preamp Detector. Ive been told that STS uses a NCOM pcb for this, but maybe there is something simpler I could whip up on breadboard for this? https://sergemodularinfo.blogspot.com/p/animate.html?m=0 "[The PRN...

I love Ankersmit's stuff It would be good to have a list of albums produced using serge as the main or most prominent instrument. Until someone puts that together, any crucial releases come to mind? This release has been in constant rotation recently, Can't recommend it enough. / https://www.muffwi...

I'm guessing those green lines drawn on the left side PCB image are wrong, one should go to CW, one should go to CCW surely? Check out 'SN1' and 'SN2' on the CGS81 schematic... (This is for the input attenuators). I think the second one down in each pair of green lines should connect to the other l...

I'm having problems with my CV Processor. I cut all the traces specified in the diagram. I also made sure once the traces we cut that they weren’t hitting the ground in any way. Problem is still not resolved. The output attenuator is working correctly - adding and subtracting 5v on the output. But t...

But - you could have a very SHORT cable coming out of the power supply box, just a few inches long, with either a male or female cable-mount connector on the end. And you can have a separate, detachable long cable with a male on one end and female on the other end to connect from that to the synth ...

Philmore Connectors for PSU
I'm helping a friend build an external PSU for his Modcan system. I've been looking through the 5U forum and found that Bruce uses Philmore Connectors for the power cables. http://www.minute-man.com/acatalog/Online_Catalog_Premium_Mobile_Connectors_Manufactured_in_Japan_192.html Id like to put Femal...

Great info! I've been looking for this for days :bang: Im building an external PSU for a friends Modcan system. Do you know if they make female chassis sockets for these? I'd like to use them for the outputs of the PSU.. That's the stuff. Also known as Philmore connectors. Here's another source: htt...

Power Plugs for External Power Supply (5U)
Hi there Im building an external power supply for a friend and need a solution to the plugs used for the power. The cases he has have the 3 Pin Mike/CB Screw-on plugs. Im having a problem finding the 3 pin FEMALE chassis mounted plugs for the power's outputs. Does anyone know where to get these? If ...

I was also thinking about modding out my V2 and keep the V1 in a stock 2600 configuration. All the proposed mods look great and I'd be interested in a set of sync and envelope boards...would be a lot neater than building up some prototype boards. I'd also like to add octave up/down switches for the...

No, but I can recommend an alternative - using an external standards-type module instead of a mod if you can get away with that. Not quite the same thing, I used to want octave switches, but after I built a CV standards module I just flip my CV an octave up or down instead. I think they are called ...

What do you mean when you say that adjusting the input resistor "seemed to throw off the Q pot a bit"? Did it soften the Q response as you would expect? Actually it doesn't throw it off. I have an 200k resistor in this space and the Q pot isn't distorting until 11/12 o'clock now. This is more the r...

if you have other boards, you can compare them. maybe swap the CGS108 boards on them and see if thats the issue. the trimmer on the CGS108 is just for distortion, so i doubt thats it. probably a wrong resistor value some place if its that far off from other builds. Going to double check the resisto...

Too much Q for my VCFQ
Recently built a CGS112 VCFQ and at 9 o'clock on the Q knob i start to get squelchy, and by 12 o'clock its full feedback and distorting. I've built a couple in the past and haven't had this problem where it seems like it's uncontrollable. This is the first time I built the CGS108 breadboard tester a...
