Re: How can I take my modular to the next level?

Lots of great advice here, I would echo the “you don’t need anything else” and add this: I think you should try to forget everything you know, at least for a while. Patch for in exploration mode, embrace the sounds you get. Also I think it’s always a good learning experience to try to recreate modul...

I remixed a pop song using my piano, an 808 and a Minilogue.
Sounds killer! How did you record the piano, which microphone(s) and placement?

Re: Autechre - recreate on Eurorack?

I think we all tried sample and hold through a quantizer and enjoyed the automated, random melodies that came from that. But I also think most of us after listening to that after a while (short or long) came to the conclusion that in itself it didn’t provide much musical fulfillment. Surely there’s ...

Re: Autechre - recreate on Eurorack?

I hope I didn't sound demeaning, that was in no way my intention! As I said I'm no expert! And I find the discussion very interesting! Maybe I should rephrase my post: 1) When I listen to autechre I hear things that I don't think are random, but rather quite systematic... 2) When trying these things...

Re: Autechre - recreate on Eurorack?

I must say that I'm very much in the "it's not random" camp here. I think autechre is very musical, and in this genre so much ahead of everything else. I'm no expert at all, but I'm trying to achieve some of the same things in my music, and to me a teletype essential, since it allows you to define t...

Mostly groove based, retrigger of disco-like bass pattern following
bd. Sequenced from teletype and hermod (chords and melody). 301 on drums, glitch and harmony line.

Looks great! One thing I missed with tendrils is having increments of 5cm all the way up (tendrils come in 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, 60 and 90cm)...

Re: Your unusual approach to modular!

OP: Are you often running things through things? A wave folder to add overtones and a filter to tame overtones while adding character would give you new timbres. Doepfer makes some great sounding, very affordable filters, I love the chopping kinky wave folder from befaco. NB: I’m with @starthief on ...

Re: a773 live performances on youtube

Using the teletype to implement an idea I got: randomly harmonize a random melody, So with each note in the scale there are three chords, ranging from very "in the key" to "not so much in the key". Most sounds come from the er-301...

Re: Ideal balance of VCAs in larger setups

So they say "you can never have enough VCAs". Well I find it depends alot on your patching. I have a vnicursal (6 channels) in three of my mantis and a tangle quartet (4 channels) in the fourth and I never run out.

Re: How did you pick your sequencer?

My sequencer is a teletype. I picked it because I just got an er-301 and at that point (spring 2019) it was the only sequencer that supported i2c, which was just too cool to not use with the er-301. I quickly realized the potential of the teletype and the more I worked with it, the more I fell in lo...
