Re: Quantizers in 2020

I've been working a lot with quantizers (I have 4x penrose that I love), but they can be a tricky ingredient when trying to pull of multiple tracks in different keys and even with sections in different keys in a live setting. So after getting the teletype, I've been "quantizing" at the source, that ...

Re: How to Stay in Tune with Eurorack (performing live)

How can I have the same tuning when I power up my system? Do I have to tune Plaits? You sound exactly like me!!! I'm not familiar with plaits, but with the mutable oscs I have, I have calibrated them so that 0V is a C with the freq knob all the way CCW. Sometimes you have to do a little creative be...

Re: Separating sources by band

separate sources by fixed filtered bands, that makes sense in terms of band placement in an electronic music sense. Ie sub 20-60hz, kick 60-100. As others have said, I don't think you'll be able to separate a mix of sounds based on frequency bands. I really suggest you test it out in a DAW or such,...

Re: Before I Take the Plunge

Hi Cole! Although the system is comprised of some amazing modules, I have a few thought that you might consider (or just throw away): 1) It seems to me that you're trying to get too many voices in too little space, you could have at least 4 voices from this setup, however they will be rather dull, d...

Eenergetic and laid back, rhythmic and melodic, two parts with a short transition. As usual sequenced from teletype, lots of er-301 in this one, full patch notes in description on youtube. Hope you dig it!

Re: Help me finish my first rack!

Not familier with the kermit so no comments. So you can have exp (or in general variable response) in vca and/or in the envelope, but not really any point in both (yeah I know vcas can be controlled by other things than envelopes). If you go with quadrax I can assure you it's like exponential to the...

Re: Oscillators - point me in the right direction

Doepfer has some really nice (and cheap) options for traditional oscillators. I have 3x a-110, super basic, super nice, individual outs for different waveform + octave switches are important to me. I can recommend the intellijel shapeshifter (fm + wave table + more), haven't had it for so long, but ...

Re: building a eurorack case

Building the physical case is easy (depending on how fancy + beautiful you want it and how handy you are). Clicks and clocks (https://clicksclocks.de/) has all the "special" hardware you'll need like rails and fittings. One final advice: Don't go cheap on the power! Go with trusted established euror...

Re: Help me finish my first rack!

Envelopes + LFO: I'd suggest intellijel quadrax. It's a bit of extra button presses to get to the more complex stuff, but it has a lot of nice features. The expander adds "end of rise" and "end of fall", which will allow krell patches and such. Filter: I personally like my filters to add character, ...

Re: sequencer to replace Varigate 8+

I might be mixing you up with someone else, but don't you have a teletype? It's the best euro sequencer in my book. I recently got a hermod to provide the tree things I was missing: 1) keyboard input, 2) long melodies and 3) sequencing of midi gear. If you don't need any of these, the teletype is ev...

Re: Introducing the Cylonix & Intellijel SHAPESHIFTER

After getting a shapeshifter recently I started converting the manual it to ePub, to be able to read it on my e book reader. It’s not complete yet, but it’s almost there. It might just be me, but I wish all manuals were available as ePub, it’s a dynamic format supporting scaling, opposed to the stat...

Re: How do you use your Eurorack?

I write melodic music with pop forms and jazz elements. I’m serious about my music but can’t make a living from it. Have also done some sound design for real money with the system. I currently put out a new track every two weeks on YouTube. I play live from time to time, but during this summer I hop...

Re: Starthief's Eurorack adventure, 2016-???

@Rex Coil 7: I was simple referring to starthief initial worries he wouldn’t get along with it (desktop synth etc), plus comparing it to current trends (although not that widespread) towards modules that are “complete voices with (almost total) patch recall”.
