Re: Supercell: expanded version of Clouds + Superparasites firmware

Wow, the moderation in this thread is insane. Maybe you guys should just lock one thread and redirect the conversation to an existing thread like in the old days? Or do all that work, but it seems to amount to a jibberish chronology.

In the niche Buchla world, I'd doubt there'd be another setup with any likelihood of selling/undercutting IF source files were released - it'd be a shitty act that the community would, rightly, not support. I'd doubt m/any sales would be lost from people DIYing, so I'd wager that the blowback from ...

Re: One big purchase: Sequential or Deckard's?

Having grown up on a diet of 70-80s music, the P6/OB-6 is a natural contender; Maybe something from the DSI line if you want more of an all-rounder, but the DD captures way more vintage vibes. I think particularly if you are a player, go with the DD. You say you have several synths. Go for somethin...

Re: EMS KS. Unobtanium?

I suppose this time is as good as any to start a new project. Here I go, wish me luck! omg, you would be a synth hero if you conquer this. I'm sure most people would want a perfect clone, but I'd be happy with any kind of portable controller that fit in the Synthi lid. And also just to say I though...

Re: Presonus Audio Interface Owners / Quantum 2626 Owners

I use a 4848. I'll admit I bought it pretty blindly without knowledge of any QC issues mentioned. I was familiar with a friend's Quantum, and the i/o on the 4848 was right for me, so I went with it. I've had it for a year, and it's been great so far. Sounds good to me, always recognized by my Macboo...

Also, seems like Korg might have something to say about the use of the treble clef logo.

The knobs on those sequencer modules look ridiculously close. Unusable w/o tweezers close.
Coming from you, that's saying something! ;)

Hey, my knob may be small, but it knows to stay well away from others.

Re: Erm.. Romplers?

The Mellotron romplers are amazing. If they appeal to you, I suggest you dive in. I chose the Memotron for the full keyboard and studio use but am still considering a Mellotron Micro also for live use. It's keyboard set up is a little stupid with dead keys on each end and some overlap in the ranges ...

Cool tour. What are the three things on the bottom row of this table? I found myself squinting more at the control elements on that row (these and the ipads) than the monosynths.

the effect as a sound on its own is not what I'm after.. but who does..? (also not great value!) ..its a nice gimmic but the reality is it fades.. Your first remark makes sense, since it is personal. Re: Planning my first modular (Moon)

for less money and way more interesting some of thos stomp box delays are much better value.. effects in modular are generally way overpriced/underfeatured. But stomp boxes don't have much if any CV control, and keeping a synth contained can make a rig more portable and quicker to set up, if that i...

Re: Random*Source Resonant Equalizer... or?

I have the CGS version and think it is amazing. I wouldn't worry about the lack of cv control at all. My only regret is not having the even larger slider version (w/ individiual i/o). It seems like the perfect interface for this module.

I'm sure. Wouldn't dream of using one today, at least without refurbishment. Mainly into the EMS porn if there were any pics. Seems like it might be about as rare as that actual Synthi AX, which looks completely amazing. Alien.

The Synthi manual references a Synthi AX battery pack. Were these ever produced? I'm sure there are better modern portable AC power solutions, but I'd love to see a pic of the Spartanite case version.

Unless you are using the worst out there, or adding a 10kg weight to the end, the average jack can handle quite a lot. I've had modules for nearly 13 years now, and not once I had a broken jack despite having lots of stackables, splitters etc. Even did this for a laugh a few years ago to prove a po...

Re: Dotcom Panel wiring vs. Panel PCBs

I prefer the Dotcom style. It allows the average user to service simple components and encourages the user to tinker and experiment with simple mods. I also feel that using panel components to attach the pcb to the panel instead of standoffs may add potential for some stress on those solder joints i...
