Re: Intellijel Rubicon 2 vs SSF Zero Point Oscillator

Endless technical discussions.... Back in 1993 I bought a used PPG+Waveterm B. They guy who sold it kindly came out one day to demonstrate some of the more deeper aspects of the Waveterm. He explained for hours - had way more technical, theoretical knowledge than I did. It was a sunny day, warm as h...

alright brothers and sisters so ive got a rene with a 12 step sequence spanning an octave triggering a pico drums with 12 samples in order to play a sliced break, the sequence is linear through the octave on the pico i have samples 1-12 as break 1, samples 13-24 as break 2, samples 25-36 as break 3...

Re: Intellijel Rubicon 2 vs SSF Zero Point Oscillator

I like the way Doepfer oscs sound. They aren't as harsh and clangorous as some of the others. The A-110-4 sounds so smooth and just kinda purrs nicely in that demo. Nothing seems quite as capable of the variety of tones that the ZPO is though, esp at 16hp. I really want one. I have absolutely no is...

Re: best SOUNDING signal path MODULES

It's probably best to have a different mindset when thinking about synthesis , as opposed to the studio and sound reinforcement process. In synthesis you're more concerned about whether your modular will generate the quality of the timbres you like, and the features/controls/price. As Starthief men...

Re: best SOUNDING signal path MODULES

Hi, I haven't seen much discussion of the sound quality of audio routing in eurorack or modular? Being a live sound engineer and studio nerd this is very important for me. I'm about to pull the trigger on a small eurorack kit for the first time, predominantly utility modules, a sequencer, noise sou...

Re: Xaoc Zadar, Quadruple Envelope Generator + Nin expander

I think one of my encoders might be acting up but I don't know if I'm just now noticing otherwise normal behavior...Zadar is a pretty much a set and forget type module for me but I have just noticed that if I tick through slowly on my envelope selection, sometimes it will advance a few presets ahea...

Re: If you had to pick one OSC for a small system. Which one would that be?

WMD/SSF Spectrum as a analog contrast to your Cursus ? The Spectrums is small, awesome sounding with a lot of features packed into its small hp. Many waveforms, sub output, octave shifter, linear/eksponential FM - and it tracks great.

Re: SSF zero point oscilator

The raw tone of the ZPO is so beautiful to me, even before getting into the crunchy FM fun. Very rarely have I heard an oscillator that made me feel this way. I really enjoy the rough, organic and almost sandpapery textures that I can get without any effort! ZPO and Falistri are now best friends in...

Re: O|D ER-301: Sound Computer (Available Now!)

I guess you can say, that I have been able to build patches within the Er-301 that combine my fav features of modules mentioned above. But you need a controller for it. Maybe this is the whole point, also the controller part. Thanks for pointing it out. Do you miss something in particular of those ...

Re: O|D ER-301: Sound Computer (Available Now!)

Good question. I have had Morphagene, Assimilt8r, Qubit Nebulae V2 and 4ms STS. Loved each of them, but there was always functions that I missed. With the Er-301 I am able to build the patches with the functions, that suits my needs for the given situation. I guess you can say, that I have been able...

When I went back to using theTip Top Z4000s instead of my Doepfer A-140-2 I experienced less clicking.

Re: TZFM | ZPO vs. Generate-3

would be interesting to hear more feedback from people who owns both modules I have both. They are more different than similar. A deep dive here in the forums will help. My quick take - Generate-3 is buzzy and experimental, and great for deep, bass duties. ZPO is tight, musical, and has more points...

Re: New MakeNoise module: Mimeophon

Not exactly sure how to measure this but one thing I found that might be interesting is when I plug any other module into my Mordax Data, the voltage level on the input reads .01v. This includes my other delays. When I plug in the output from the Mimeophon which everything turned down and no input ...

Re: New MakeNoise module: Mimeophon

The noise is not constant on my module. I have attached one of the samples I sent to MN. There's a recording of a synth pluck recorded directly - and then the same synth pluck being recorded through the Mimeophon (Notice that mix knob is 100% dry). Check it out in headphones. This recording is done ...

Re: warmest sounding complex oscillator?

So far I've had HERTZ DONUT Mk2, DPO, Verbos Complex, Shapeshifter and Instruo CS-L. The warmest sounding of those to me was the Verbos Complex. It sounds incredible. But due to restrictions of space I am limiting myself to only one Complex VCO. I ended up with the Instruo CS-L, that to me, can be ...

Re: Dual Looping Delay from 4ms

I do miss mine. I have the Mimeophon now, however still prefer to individually alter each channel. May pick it up again at a later stage. Feel the same. Occasionally I would get small irregularities when sync start arrived from DAW with the DLD. But it's nothing compared to the constant noise from ...

Re: New MakeNoise module: Mimeophon

I had hoped MN had fixed the noise issues with this module. It's an issue - especially when using Mimeophon on multiple tracks individually - the noise accumulates. If you then bounce all those tracks to one track and then again run that track through Mimeophon the noise level becomes really high. I...

Re: What OSC are on yr radar?

At the moment I got Instruo Cs-L, Verbos Harmonic Oscillator and Piston Honda Mk3 (and a Er-301) in my case. Considering the Generator 3 VCO. One one side the demo's sound a bit harsh - on another side I like that he's trying to take the concept of a VCO to a new place.

Re: Joranalogue GENERATE 3 - Through-Zero Multiphonic Signal Generator

What are your thoughts on G3 VS ZPO ? There is a whole thread about the G3 and the ZPO, and the comparison seems to be very, very sensitive territory for some. That said, the ZPO is tighter, and more musical that the G3, in my opinion. It isn't a straight zero point oscillator, in the opinion of mo...

Re: Joranalogue GENERATE 3 - Through-Zero Multiphonic Signal Generator

Any suggestion? What do you feed it with? I ran into exactly the same problem when I picked up Generate3 and the SSF ZPO. My other oscillators were immediately dedicated to effecting those two. I also have space restrictions, so I picked up a 2hp VCO. Like all the 2hp stuff, it's really fiddly to d...
