Re: Mutable Conversions to DIY Friendly PCBs

Yep when I DIY stuffs I'm more doing stuff without the size restrictions of Eurorack ... using perfboard, attaching jack and let on the panel rather than on PCB ... it's not about money, but for the pleasure to build things and trying to understand how it works ... and most of the time I don't want ...

Re: D.I.Y Preamp (Guitar / Line > Eurorack)

Hi, I took the last few days to re-read all the preamp thread on Muff, lots of op-amp theory stuffs, forum , schematic ... So trashed my first layout and re-start from fresh. I end up with a schematic which was looking like a Mikrophonie (I found the schematic in the a topic about input protection w...

Re: D.I.Y Preamp (Guitar / Line > Eurorack)

I don't want to discourage anyone from learning to do the calculations - but I go here to work out filters... http://sim.okawa-denshi.jp/en/Fkeisan.htm ...and if you plug your values into the high-pass RC filter you will find you might want to make C6 a little smaller. A thing that's easy to miss w...

Re: D.I.Y Preamp (Guitar / Line > Eurorack)

Yes, a high pass filter in the input is useful to limit rumble and hum noise. The 1M input impedance is standard for ordinary passive guitar and bass with magnetic pickups (and will just about suit a piezo contact mic too, although higher still is better for those). For the high pass filter, a 1M r...

Re: D.I.Y Preamp (Guitar / Line > Eurorack)

The preamp scheme in the first post has some issues I think. C4 polarity is wrong. The input will be earthy thru a guitar so the cap negative faces the input. A wrong-way cap causes DC leakage and your guitar volume pot will crackle. The input impedance is high (1M) so the cap only needs to be smal...

(Their diy unit is smd I believe.)
Afaik there are no smd parts on any of the AI Synth builds, it’s one of the company’s stated goals to provide a way for beginners to strengthen their skills and confidence in building.
yep no SMD and it's basically a CGS stompbox module

I know that AI Synthesis has a schematic of their stompbox circuit online. (Their diy unit is smd I believe.) I know that doesn't directly answer your question, but another resource might help.
Thanks ! I didn't know this one ! Yep I've checked Befaco, BASTL Henrickson ;)

D.I.Y Preamp (Guitar / Line > Eurorack)

Hi DYers, I hope someone will find the time to help me in my humble quest I'm still a noob even after months of reading .... I want to know how it works, draw schematics & my own pcbs, design my panels ... It's a long path and harder than pick bag of components and a PCB made by someone else, a lot ...

... with 160HP limited to 30mm max module ... You would need around 40 mm depth to fit the FX AID. yes I know ! that's why I said the HP can be something important when you only have 160HP of >30mm depth modules ;) (to the people who are complaining about the size ... it's different when it's for a...

Re: FX AID - multi audio effect module

I will try this one very soon if I can catch a black edition in 2 weeks in Europe. looks a bit crammed but I'm happy it's only 4HP. (my system is a travelling 80HP x 12U ... with 160HP limited to 30mm max module ... so space is always a tricky thing when I want to add something ... ) I already have ...

Hi all, I have a milky way and there is a definite whine, layered over noise hiss but it's not very loud. How are you all measuring the loudness. Ableton Specrum Analyser says it peaks around -86db. What do you consider unacceptable? Ableton Spectrum too ... so it appears it could be a bad batch ! ...

My impression is that the vast majority of DSP algorithms sum the left and right inputs to mono before processing, anyway, so having a left and right input winds up mainly being about passing the dry signal through the dry/wet control. In other words, it’s a limitation you can probably patch around...

I owe you all an apology. Specifically @OHEXOH My system had noise, and I don't quite remember when it all arrived because I swap modules regularly. Suffice, because I was lacking reference, I didn't realize how noisy it had become. Also, I was attributing my noise problem to the wrong module. So w...
