Re: Morphagene+Beads or Arbhar+Beads?

Morphagene and beads is an unreal combination, just been sat in my studio laughing for about 5 hours . You won’t be disappointed I have the same combo. I can't make a useful contribution on Arbhar, since I haven't used it. However, my experience so far is not as clear as the above quote would sugge...

Re: How do I get a defined voltage output?

Do you mean 'how can I send a specific Control Voltage (CV) to a module? There are modules that can do this. Most offset / attenuator utilities can do it by just patching the output to your required destination and setting the offset to where you want it. If you want to know the actual voltage (as a...

NLC Timbre. Such an easy build using standard over-the-counter components, but such a huge brassy sound!

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer

Ok, for anyone on the fence about a vector, the native launchpad integration is game changing. Launching clips and scenes.. making real time changes to drum patterns and basslines. This used to be the sequencer you programmed. Now it's something you can sketch stuff on and play live. Clips? I think...

That top is so cool! I hadn't seen one before and it freaked me out.

I also got a pair of ALM long patch leads and a useful cable tie courtesy of Found Sound.

Re: Bread and Butter Analog Oscillators in 2020

I can add my vote to the TipTop Z3000. It just seems to be everything that a classic VCO should be. I don't have my Doepfer 110s and 111 any more, but they also fit the bill. The 110s lacked soft sync and linear FM, but could be modified to add these features. Additional votes for Dixie (all version...

Re: Mutable Instruments Beads (Clouds 2)

sold my Clouds yesterday and bought Beads but now wondering if I'm gonna lose the usecase I typically used Clouds for. I love dialing in slower, longer grains on the most lo-fi setting then cranking the feedback to recreate smudgy pad like sounds behind the source Lead sound. Seems like maybe this ...

Re: chorus module to fatten bass from a pro 1

I have the Pro 1 and I don't feel the need for chorus - detuning two of the same waves seems to work well. As does PWM to a square wave and using octaves for a sub-bass. Also, I am not sure that chorus will do what you want. It's good for thickening up mid-range sounds (like string patches) but may ...

Re: Your 3 least popular eurorack modules?

My least popular modules are probably in the boxes under my studio desk, but there are so many that I am not going to put them on modulargrid. Why do I still have them? Because every now and then I will feel the need for a particular sound or approach that I haven't used in a while. [Edit: Ok, I get...

Re: What Eurorack modules are good for Space Rock?

Nobodies mentioned any phasers. and or flangers. Heaps of these Great point, but I haven't found any phasers that capture the genuine 'Krautrock' sound other than the Haible DIY one. I recently realised the reason for this - the original phaser and the Haible version both sound like more of a filte...

If a pulsing sequencer is part of your definition of 'Space Rock' (think early TD), then a knobby sequencer like the Metropolis or Doepfer A-125 is a must.

Re: Quantizer noob question

I don't have a A-156 any more, but I didn't find it greatly limiting. The fact that you have two quantisers in one is a big bonus. Also, it has trigger inputs so that you can ensure pitches are quantised when you want them. Some other quantisers, even more expensive ones, suffer from glitching - the...

Re: Something new from Make Noise: Strega

I haven't bought any of the 0-series, although the 0-Control is tempting as part of a mobile rig. I have my own little portable system which incorporates a Morphagene, the WMD/SSF MMF and DPLR and a MengQi VM, so the concept of Stregahas appeal. The limitations of a fixed, self-contained system can ...

I bought the Maschine+ and I'm really enjoying it. At first sight the Roland looks to have it covered and with better facilities for vocal recording - but trying to manipulate all that power with a tiny text screen sends me back to the horrors of the 90s. If they could have included a full graphic s...

Doepfer is very good about adding extra CV inputs and attenuators on everything. I love my diode filter for this reason, there are 3 inputs for the cutoff frequency, with attenuators on each. No mixer required to have multiple control sources. Underrated feature! +++ I always quote this whenever so...

I've had mine pretty much since they came out, and as someone else said, it's a great bang-for-the buck module. You don't really need any other utilities if you have it in your rack, although I did keep my SSF 4 x passive attenuators for when I simply want to attenuate a CV. If I have a criticism, i...
