Re: How can I take my modular to the next level?

That’s a really nice system, I don’t think you need to add anything, just spend a lot of time working on it until you learn all its secrets

Re: boosting signals in eurorack

Depends on the design of your mixer or VCA, if you clip the input and then turn it down it’s not gonna unclip.

Re: boosting signals in eurorack

Yeah that’s why you’re seeing clipping. I don’t know why you would need to feed the d0 such a hot signal, but doing so is probably gonna introduce more noise at other places in the signal chain because you’re eating all your headroom.

Re: boosting signals in eurorac

The power rails are +-12V so that’s the hard limit. On top of that certain modules use reverse power polarity protection that takes up another 0.6V of headroom, and depending on the opamps used in the module they may go all the way to the rail or they might clip before hand. The commonly used TL074 ...

Any ideas on how to utilize the pair of external inputs as a send/return? There must be a good way without too much feedback.
You can use them as an fx return, but if you’re feeding that fx unit with the outputs you’re creating a feedback loop.

Oh I should add that we’ve gotten another run of SoundStages shipping from the factory, so if you’re after one grab one quickly before they sell out again.

Re: WORNG Electronics SoundStage mixer

I worry slightly that it is geared towards larger systems - can anyone comment on how useful it is working with smaller rigs? It’s not geared towards large systems at all, it comes in handy any time you want to work in stereo. The 21 inputs aren’t intended to all be used at once every time, think o...

There is a global shortage of silicon chips in general. It affects everybody. The entitlement is outrageous.
It doesn’t effect people making analogue modules, not everything has to be digital you know :tu:

But again, it isn't cancelling the sound when it is dry, without the reverb, it only cancels when both reverb faders are up. If post-processing were flipping polarity, you would get a cancellation of ALL mono signals, including the dry synth. The fact that it only affects the mono reverb signal wou...

Wondering if ALM is planning an expander module for VCAs or level control?
There’s no expander needed, you can patch through any VCA into an input.

Signal, Rubadub, Mattech, Elevator and Cymru Beats should all be getting them in in the UK.
Any update on this? I get that this may have been delayed (nobody has stock yet).... any idea when?
They’re shipping/shipped, should be arriving pretty soon.

Re: Updated SSI2130 VCO Datasheet available...

I've run into a peculiar quirk when testing my prototype on a variety of Eurorack power supplies. I have one supply where the -12V rail comes up around 8ms after the +12V, using this supply the 2130 locks up with the voltage on tcap at around 3.5V. I'm not using the Strobe pin in this design so it'...

Re: Worng Parallax Clipping ?

I haven’t heard of anyone having issues with clipping so far, and it’s designed with high quality opamps that give it more headroom than most eurorack modules on the market. There is some signal gain in the path so there’s a chance that the Parallax is outputting a clean but hot signal that’s clippi...

You can often get a screw with a stripped head out by putting a rubber band over the top and using a screwdriver one size larger, just make sure you’re applying enough pressure downwards for it not to slip

Re: How fragile are trim pots?

Mechanically a tall trimmer is the same as a knobbed pot without a bushing and nut, they’re different options on the same datasheet of many brands. That said, neither is a good long term option because an un-nutted pot allows more lateral force on the shaft to travel through to the wiper and damage ...

Re: Why are so many vendors/manufacturers low or out on stock?

It sounds like it might be beneficial for more companies to introduce kits or even panel / CB sets. I know it's less profit per item, but DIY isn't for everyone, but it would boost availability in a time where there are so many factors limiting production. I for one can't readily afford a lot of mo...
