Re: Synthi 100 Nixie tube display

Oh I don’t know about that. A frequency counter is better for absolute tuning. An oscilloscope is better for looking at relative phase relationships. (EDIT: And of course all manner of voltage measurements and wave shape comparisons.) Different tools for different chores.

Re: ARP2600 Ring Mod as external FX

I suspect this may be a problem with the mic signal being way too hot. Try this. Flip the RM switch to DC. Patch the mic to the preamp, and the preamp to a RM input. Now patch the output of one of the voltage processors with a +10 volt slider to the other RM input. Turn it all the way up. Now listen...

Re: Behringer 2600

What that usually means is that some part of the circuit is symmetric using 2 transistors, and it’s important that the two physical transistors actually used match as closely as possible. You can take a bag of supposedly the same transistors, and some will match better than others. DIY synth builde...

Re: Behringer 2600

The focus of the 2500 modules would be adding more Arp tonality, and to me that means mostly VCOs and VCFs. Here is what I'm thinking (today)… Does that make sense to others? Would you put the 2500 modules above or below the 2600? I'd trade one of the B1004's for the 1005. Put the Euro under the 26...

Re: Behringer 2600

Personally, and there's fortunately no great rush to do this, I'm thinking of the following: I have a 12U desktop rack/stand, and a TipTop Happy Ending Eurorack with power supply. What I'm thinking of doing is getting a Gray Meanie and then 84 hp of BArp 2500 modules. The focus of the 2500 modules w...

Re: Behringer 2600

Just to add to the ambiguity… Over on FB Behringer has a product release album… https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=Behringer&set=a.10159057371968914 For the Blue Marvin Behringer says: "The pure analog signal path is based on the authentic ARP 2600 circuitry from the 70s with matched transis...

Re: Behringer 2600

Regarding the theory that the Blue and Gray versions are identical to the Black Xmas version but for the paint and reverb. We have confirmation that the Black Xmas circuit board has solder pads for both ceramic and PPS capacitors for the filter...with ceramics being used. Now today on FB we have thi...

Re: BEST VCF at the moment ??

We don't really know because it's not out yet. But I can hardly wait for this to get into the field. If it's even close to the original, it will be worth grabbing. (Not so convinced by the other B2500 modules. The ARP 1047 had character.) https://mediadl.musictribe.com/media/marketing_images/MULTIMO...

Re: Behringer ARP 2500 modules

Oddly Sweetwater has dropped the price on the 1033, so now the added delay only costs $10 more than without.

I can’t recall exactly how the delay works. Is it as if the entire gate, both on and off, is shifted? Or is just the on delayed, but off happens as soon as the input gate turns off?

Re: Behringer System 55

I’m talking about the fact that all of those independent filter leads and corresponding solder points are all connected together before they hit the output op amp. Why don’t all those passively connected wires and solder points want to be at the same voltage? Just a guess, but it seems like the tes...

Re: Deep Learning and modular synths

We’re on the brink of technology that we can use to do things we don’t understand. “Yep, this little black cube is my guitar rig. I just plug in and play. . It did the initial training itself just by checking out my music listening preferences, combined with listening to my practice and session “tap...

Re: Behringer System 55

(What I meant by crosstalk was this. I solder a wire to the 1000 hz solder point. What keeps the signal from the, say, 1400 hz band finding its way out there too?) Crosstalk is most noticeable when it's between two dissimilar things. In this case it's the same program material, but at different fre...

Re: Behringer System 55

Right, so if one wants more general purpose individual band outputs on the front panel, they would each need an op amp then.

Re: Behringer System 55

I've investigated today on the Boog 914 filterbank to find the individual outs for each band. There are solder points labeled TP1 to TP16 on the back of the module, so it was an easy task with an oscilloscope and a sawtooth oscillator at the input. Here are the results: N Frequency Label 0 LP TP7 1...

Re: Behringer 2600

This is NOT sorted. The B2600 also had mods to the caps used in the filters. Some are saying that “improvements” noted by Keeble are relative to the early 70’s Arps, and all 3 Behringers are the same (except for spring). This is my understanding, Behringer have confirmed on social media that the 'c...

Re: Behringer 2600

In order to hear a tangible difference in sound, given the same circuits, nearly ALL of the components would need to be swapped out for something extreme. I don't think this is true. Change a few capacitors and the sound of a filter can change in a way that is easily audible. Not saying Behringer h...

Re: Behringer 2600

They probably get an audio upgrade at best. AKA different -faster slew- op amps . But if the Blue and Gray sound better than the B2600, there has to be a reason, right? So how are they different circuit or parts -wise? If you are implying you already answered the question as to the component differ...

Everything else is speculation about ...

Re: Behringer 2600

This is sheer speculation above. We need to hear from Behringer or someone reliable who has opened one up. My understanding of the history is that the Blue and Gray had especially high quality op amps in the signal path, and that these were replaced with a lower cost part for the original mass produ...
