Re: Skinny Puppy WHY?

From what i remember in the early to mid 90's Skinny Puppy had a very good and broad reputation among the club scene here in Germany. They attracted the usual EBM and electro-heads, but also some Industrial or Goth/Dark Wave fellows. They were one of the few bands most of them could agree too on the...

Re: Help identify modules in the Doors (2021) trailer

I have to confess, that i also own some modules being able to contact and communicate with the outer worlds or other living beings... One day they called the police, when they initially made contact with my neighbours and secretly implanted the message into their minds, to call the police, because o...

Re: bat85 replacement for coolaudio V2164

Again, a diode really close to each IC can't be a bad thing if you want (almost) 0% chance of triggering the power failuremode. That was, what i wanted/hoped to hear... as i do always build on stripboard and sometimes also do some errors, this was the question that i was looking for protecting the ...

Re: bat85 replacement for coolaudio V2164

Me again, was soldering the Thomas Henry VCF&VCA from the synth for the 21st century book the last few days and have not plugged it in and tested yet, but i came up with an question regarding the input protection i wasn't able to find an answer yet. If there is more than one 2164 used in a board, wo...

Re: RIP Ghédalia Tazartès

Great musician, very sad to hear that he passed away. Have a lot of his releases, over a dozen and really enjoy his music, especially something as incredible and great stuff like his Tansports album. I don't know exactly if he extensively used synths for his works, but i think rahter not. As far as ...

reverb with crossfader need some tips

Me again... Just stuffed a small box with mostly effect units among them one spring reverb which i combined with the Thomas Henry Crossfader to get wet/dry mix and gain control manually or via CV. After some tweaking of levels and wet/dry mix ratio, it almost works fully, the only annyoing thing is ...

Re: How much/often do you purchase on Bandcamp?

Only bought something on bandcamp twice and each of them was a physical release. I'm not spending that much money on music as i did in my youth but when i buy either via small mailorder or small specialized shops online or in some cases directly from the artist or label. And then i end up with stapl...

Re: How many OSC/Voices is too many.

Curiously i find myself often with only one or two oscillators as sound source besides some noise or crackling logic pulses for percussive elements. Mostly i use several waveforms of that VCO or sometimes the same waveform to several different destinations like VCF, several bands of a filter bank or...

Re: Question: Powering up a freshly built module.

Not really what you're asking for but my one trick pony is having a simple wallmart PSU like the MFOS one and have some fuse holders at the outputs installed and use some fast and small current specificated fuses like 160 or 250mA... They most likely will blow instantly when there is a short, but th...

Re: Korg 700s mini modifications

Finally sticked in a little stripboard for the external VCF control to boost the incoming voltages by a factor of 2. First of all, nice surprise TL072's running on +20V and -10V rails don't immediately turn into dust and ashes, well the datasheet from TI stated a max of +/-20V. But on the other hand...

Korg 700s mini modifications

As i mentioned in another thread i have one old miniKorg 700s sitting around and already did some modifications, like CV control for the VCO and external gate input. That works very well with another V/Hz synth and tracks accurately and also tracks with an V/ovt keyboard with my clone of the Korg MS...

Re: Cloning TR-606 trigger outputs; works at 15V but not 6V?

Do you have a scope to detect if there's and output change at the first comparator in each section or at the second comparator for each section. As you have changed to power supply, you might also want to change the treshold value/ratio for the comparator, maybe it's a bit too high or too low as wit...

As i only have a few DIY build cases and most of them being not rearrangeable and the others not that much i have no special arrangement which i follow, except that i always have VCAs and Mixers stuck in each case or being in close proximity. My VCO's and filters are spread over various places, ofte...

Re: Scratchy Sound in Pots - any cure?

Do you think it is geolocation moisture bringing these problems? Would sillica gel balls help? If so, the ones that change colour maybe useful? Don't think that they will help a lot. They're normally at best use in an full enclosure, like a camera placed outside and then in it's housing. There it w...

Re: KORG miniKORG 700FS

had just checked the voltages of the release (percussion slider) it goes from 0V to roughly 13,5V turning the HPF all the way down to nearly 0V and then injecting the voltage from the wiper of the release pot to the wiper input has some audible effect on the VCF... but when the VCf pot is all the wa...

Wonder how the long term development of hte price would be. As far as i can remember that KArp Odyssey went for nearly or slightly over 1000 Euros when it came out and now it seems to sit at nearly the half price. When the decision was/is to not make it just a limited run and being widely available,...

Re: CGS 514 DUSG controls rise/fall CV attenuator reversed? or maybe not?

It doesn't really matter but I find it easier to operate the module when clockwise means the same thing on all the controls. With the DUSg or VCS this can become a challenge due to it's multi-funtionality... turning the rate know to faster would mean faster slopes but less slew, less filtering, les...

you could also build an in between version like i did, have 3 oscillators at fixed rate and add a further pot to have 2 osc with variable speed. I like them the most when they modulate the freuqency of a self oscillating filter and run that through a short reverb... gives solid good old sw radio vib...
