Re: Silver M3 Knurlies

aren't the m2.5 knurlies silver? you could always replace your m3 nuts/threaded strips with m2.5 ones and probably the rails too

Re: Vca not muting all the way

Not all vcas close fully - I am not familiar with the Malekko - so this may be normal behaviour for it - I don't know - I just scanneed the sound on sound review and there didn't seem to be mention of this as a 'feature' possible solutions: live with it try a negative cv does this close the vca full...

Re: Eurorack and SuperCollider

both processing and praxis, which is based on processing, are really very easy to integrate with - uses syphon or sprout - depending on OS - if supercollider can output to those - and they are both free (and java based) Every once in awhile, for many years, I've thought I should try out Processing....

Re: Eurorack and SuperCollider

I've used both processing3 and praxis_live for generating/processing video then usually reprocessing that in lumen and sending that to my audio/video eurorack - often using lzx sensory translator to filter bands out of the audio to generate envelopes etc to modulate both audio and video in the rack ...

Re: Patching Suggestions For Newbie's First System

sticking to a few modules is a good idea if you are not sure of coming up with stuff yourself I would, for example, explore how a cascading vca works - Marbles X into plaits v/oct, plaits out1 and 2 into veils 1 & 2 inputs veils out (2 or greater) to wherever you are listening from (mixer for exampl...

...make a cymbal using an oscillator RM'd with noise thru resonant hpf... now don't tell me that that is the established way to do it because I found it out all by myself and learned more than I would have by reading a book about it :-) :-) ok won't tell you who/which machines do it that way? Re: How should I use a rackbrute 3u with this setup?

I would add more mixing - both for cv and audio - a matrix mixer for cv and a couple of sub mixers for audio - and a mutable kinks (I always recommend links and kinks as a starter utility set) and it goes without saying that you need more vcas!! a lot of people seem to like the drumbrute impact, mor...

Re: Newbie asking help

you almost definitely do not need the xoh to go into your sound card - just plug whatever in - may need some attenuation - but passive attenuators will do that job inexpensively if needed - unless you have a real use case for balanced output i agree with Datum - go slowly and I would also reduce the...

Re: Drone/Ambient starting rack

a link to the actual rack would be better than a jpg - then we get mouse over infomatics etc to help us help you - there are at least 3 modules I can't make out more utility modules - use them to expand your modulation options - a quad cascading vca is always useful - they're not just for audio! sam...

Re: Buying in. Critique my planned build please!

removed fm ogre/filter 8, bitbox micro, hermod, mults. Replaced with quad VCA, noisetools, and blackbox (unracked. bitbox 2.0 is a placeholder). Added ornaments and crime as a multitool with a quantizer. Just adding 10+ utility modules to a Neutron with only 2 actual oscilators to modulate does fee...

Re: Buying in. Critique my planned build please!

Thanks Agawell for the advice! no problem!!! What would you recommend as a sequencing solution? Or just ditch the idea altogether at first? Aside from more VCAs and links, what sort of utility modules would you recommend here? Maybe a quantizer so I could use an lfo as a pseudo sequencer? I don't r...

Re: Starting with Eurorack

you could mult a single sequence to both the vco and the neutron - use a buffered mult to keep pitch sequence an interval by tuning the VCO and neutron to different notes - c and g, for a fifth for example, c1 and c3, for 2 octaves - you can install a tuner on your phone, get a guitar tuner or get a...

Re: Buying in. Critique my planned build please!

For me you have way too many 'feature' modules and not enough support, but this is a common 'problem' with newbie racks It also suffers from fully featured modules with too small user interfaces - to me eurorack is small enough already, even when modules are ergonomically designed - this is even wor...

Now, i know that VCO-VCA-VCF is quite possible or anything else. My favorite way to build sounds is now VCO-VCF-mixer. Why not ?

Re: Help with new eurorack setup for a newbie

aha - many ways to skin a cat well I use vcas all over the place wherever I need them - and I don't think there's a bad way to use any module, other than not use them - I even use audio modules for video - that's the beauty of modular - you don't have to copy anyone else's design model - only your own

you're probably right Foghorn - re Pitts using 4-40s they're an even bigger pain in the ass though as they are not generally available outside the US whereas I can pick up 6 and 8mm m3 and m2.5 at the local hardware store On the other hand (shore) small metric screws are hard to find in the US. Re: Help with new eurorack setup for a newbie

Ok, no VCA, i'm a bad guy. not having vcas doesn't make you a bad guy!! but I am interested in how that works, having always had vcas if you don't use vcas how do you turn on/off sounds? modulating filter cutoff or manually on a mixer, I'm guessing the last a-138 in each case feeds another master m...

as do most cases - I have a tiptop mantis and a bastl marton (no longer available) which both use m3 screws as well I also have a couple of diy cases - with threaded strips from Exploding Shed - all m3 I think Pittsburgh use m2.5 iirc though, as do threaded strips from thonk - when they are availabl...
