Re: random*source love
Hi Random Source pros, Are there any differences in quality or sound between the Random Source DYI modules and the SMD modules one can buy directly of them / modular shops? I'm considering getting an assembled DYI R*S VCFQ and a Resonant EQ from a builder - it's cheaper than buying the "proper" SMD...

Re: Behringer VCS3
Behringer is not the B from early 00s that was mark of musician's poverty. After the era of noname designers they asked to help pro guys like AMSynths, Mos-Lab engineers that understood how the synths should sound. Of course, it should be multiplied like *0.x because of cheap components to be in the...

Re: Xaoc Devices Sarajewo: Syncable Analog Delay Line SHIPPING NOW!
Hi proud Sarajewo delay owners! Can you please share your opinion/samples how close can be this modules with classic Ibanez AD series delays. In my tone palette their delays sound big and solid, kind dark (instead of their king AD230), murky trails with early diffusion - all the things that I like. ...

Re: Pingable/percussive filter comparison
I have 3.5 modules that provides good ping. Klangbau Twin Peaks - most crazy pings. very verstatile. I ping it like - CV - for gates or textures from Zadar, V/oct in Audio. In this case I got most interested sounds when difference between nearby notes is big. like A2->A6 RS Serge VCFQ - good v/oct, ...

Re: VERBOS ELECTRONICS
For a bit more context: I'm finding the sound too flat and mushy/muddy and I'm attempting to make techno with it. unFlat -> animate parameters with EG, LFOs, EG/LFO textures (like Zadar). It can be dramatic or almost subtle. unFlat -> Verbos ATC has great drive section. If it's not enough some guys...

Re: Verbos - customer support
To say smething positive though, the Complex Oscillator together with the Amplitude & Tone Controller are really lovely. A unique and great sounding combination for old fashioned FM bleeps and bloops. The only modules I found to be really useful and unique. Also the only ones that never failed. Som...

AMSynths AM8109 filter brothers (MK1, MK2)
AM Synths 8109 mk I and mk II together. http://soundcloud.com/7k-okmodular/amsynths-8109-brothers Chain: Random Source NTO -> AM8109 (L+R with stackable), RS Stereo Mixer (panned L, R but sometimes I triggered panning CV from Zadar) -> Intellijel LineOut (StereoMixer is too hot for audio interface b...

Re: First hardware compressor recs
Versatile and affordable - oto boum. Comp+ lfp/hpf + coloring/distortion + noise gate and blends/side chain. For me it works more as coloring box but I also use it as comp for live (f covid, online live now) performances where something can go out of control (sef-osc, feedback, too loud...)

Re: Furtherrr Generator vs CSL
Some pluses for Furthrrr is also noise source and ring mod. I’ve had FG and found it’s good as modern analog osc’s. I don’t have CSL but on demos it sounds less raw (it’s very subjective opinion without playing on it, personal taste, etc, etc).

Re: Less gear - better focus?
1) Less unwanted gear - better focus. If I don't need this module/pedal - I sell it. It helps me not to have more than two cases of euro and MU. 2) Less gear that I don't know how to use - better focus + need less modules. great example Stages. I have it from the start of selling and don't use it mo...

Re: What VST-FX, end of chain, for the modular ?
I try to spend minimum time with DAW but some plugins are great for pre-mixing: 1) Graphic EQ like FabFilter EQ or other. It's really good for LPF/HPF for some parts. Like to remove extra low that we don't hear/feel, remove lows from tracks that don't need these frequencies. Sometimes to remove some...

AKG BX20, Ibanez AD230 - just wish to have them new or NOS (and without thinking about what it would be if one of a bbd chip goes down (230))
DX5 - never played on it but looks badass.

Re: Still no demos with CXM 1978 and analog synths?
It sounds good in the Ricky Tinez video, but I don't know about $900 good. Tinez looks genuinely excited, but I would be too if I got the pedal free and got paid to do a short video. On one hand it looks over the top bling-ey with the size and motorized faders, but I dig the sound, interface parame...

Still no demos with CXM 1978 and analog synths?
Hello.
I'm just curios about your feedback about CXM 1978 reverb. 9 hundred is nine hundred and can't be an impulse buy. I'm not a fan of motorized faders but maybe it's close to Lexicon 224 and true stereo?

Re: Modules similar to Mutable Instruments Stages?
I re-discovered Stages for myself after year of owning. It’s really shines with analog vcf/vca’s. Stages has its own paradigm. Basically it’s provided in manual;) I dont use it as swiss knife (and dont like them) but as non standard modulation. I doubt we have Stages 2 but maybe someone from clone m...

from her comments I understood that Blades is also designed some time ago. if no new design work, that we will have Clouds successor as cherry on the cake. During the last two months I've rediscovered Stages for myself, before this I've found the Plaits are real another instrument after VCM (previou...

Re: Do high end mixers matter?
I guess that most of current high-end mixers are designed to be transparent and non adding any color to the sound. Some of old 70s mixers added a lot of color like Siemens but their 2 lines cost like modern mixer:) What I noticed the most moving between different consoles was that with the Trident,...

Re: Patching between linear and switching power supplies?
Linear and switching power supplier comparison can be different if we compare psu’s in studio pro gear and laptop-style bricks for dozen usd each and some quality linear things that are rarely provided in eurorack. Anyway, for portability switching psu is a winner
