Re: Rossum Electro-Music Assimil8or

No CV over level????? How do you deal with dynamic? Not sure where you've heard that, there certainly is CV control over level. Each channel has a VCA and internal envelope. You can for example modulate that envelope so that you have dynamics while preserving those envelope settings; or you can dir...

I seem to have some slightly inconsistent behaviour with single track view mode: If I hold [TRACK SELECT] to temporarily enter Single Track Mode for the second, third or fourth tracks, then select or deselect a step, then Single Track Mode latches on (as pressing [COMPOSE]) would do. This doesn't h...

Would it perhaps be possible to add another S.BUS mode that allows the Metron to send S.BUS patch changes to itself, allowing basic chaining of different programs (a rudimentary "song mode"?). While the paradigm of combining and bouncing variations into new ones is a big step forward and a very natu...

I had the same problem with my Wogglebug as a few others on this thread, and after tracing the circuit I have located the issue (at least on my board). This is the part of the circuit affected with the relevant area highlighted: https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/userpix2/2365_wfcd1_1.jpg This is the...

High precision or temperature stable application, such as timing reference in VCO core: Polystyrene, or NP0/C0G multilayer ceramic (may be hard to find the latter in a large enough value, though) Is the % important for the timing cap of a vco? Does it matter if I use a 1% or a 5% as a timing cap? T...

Hmm I dont have any TL071s, I have some 72s, would that work ?? That's a definite no, TL072 is a dual op-amp and TL071 is single. They have different power pins (which I found out when I inadvertently swapped the TL071 and TL072 on one of my Miss10 boards!). LF351 seems to be getting a bit rarer no...

Did you source your LF351 from Tayda? I and numerous other people have found that they received non-working versions of these chips recently from that source - we had a big Frequency Central group buy here in Australia.

Excellent! I recently received and built 2 of the Polivoks filters (thanks Girts) so I am looking forward to these. The filters were a fun and rewarding build, and I really like the design and finish of the panels (very reminiscent of classic synth designs).

In my experience failed transistors are pretty rare. CMOS chips of that age are a far more likely culprit, had to replace quite a few 4000 series ICs in various vintage devices.

Also, capacitors are quite prone to failure due to age, especially electrolytics and tantalums.

The 120 has a problem with the rhythm pattern ROM dying, I bought one some time ago and it was dead when it arrived. Lights come on and rhythms can be selected, but nothing except some noise on some of the selections. Depends on what the faulty ROM is reading out, I guess.

If you're going to be using a fair number of outboard effects, yes, I think a little mixer is the way to go. I can vouch for the Spirit Soundcraft mixers, I have one I mainly use for live use. They have plenty of options for aux sends and fx inserts which is what you want - mine has two available ef...

I have heard that the VCAs in the CS series are prone to failure, the symptoms you're experiencing seem to match those I've read about before. The bad news is this is a custom Yamaha chip that's no longer manufactured...
