Re: Win a TRIATT from Lower West Side Studio

You plug the input jack in, you pull the input jack out, you plug the input jack in, and you shake it all about

You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around

That’s what it’s all about

^^^if I owned any of your modules, that’s how I would use them.

Re: [Build Thread] 157 spaces of fun! (Jack wiring question)

I have a question about manually wiring the jacks of a euro module I’m converting to 5u, and will be manually wiring everything... which wire goes to the tip, switch and ground when the jacks are directly wired like this? I’m unfamiliar with this type of little itty bitty euro jack. I see there’s an...

Re: [Build Thread] 157 spaces of fun!

Next up, I’m working on a pair of Barton QTLFO. They are a pretty cool little module, it’s a “quad-trapezoid LFO”, and it kind of plays out like a little 4-step sequencer. I have 2 of them together, with 4-Barton Dual Nice Quantizer - so all 8 trapezoids can get quantized... followed by a pair of wa...

Re: [Build Thread] 157 spaces of fun!

It’s finally happened. I finished my first set of modules. The bank of 10 Barton Quad VCA Mix modules are DONE. About 400 feet of Wire later, I finally have 10 finished modules in my system. They are only VCAs, so no noises for me yet. But 40 VCAs! I think I have enough... The photos of the wiring a...

Re: Building up components inventory - how to do DIY without always buying full kits???

I buy for one project at a time, for me “one project” is typically about 10-15 modules. And then I usually buy 10x of what I actually need so o have most of what I need for the next one.

Re: Stocktaking Spreadsheet

Hahaha I just buy most parts in large quantities whenever I order stuff and don’t keep track of anything. Typically resistors and caps in quantities of 100, IC’s in quantities of 10-50 depending on the price... I typically end up having most parts in stock... there’s too much to even try to keep tra...

Re: Something New from Doc Sketchy

Wow! That is quite a process! You obviously have this process nailed now. Sounds quite daunting for an absolute newcomer. And sounds expensive, until you see what companies are charging for custom panels. I make my own panels, and got the PP. (Price per MU) down to a few bucks. I buy blank aluminum...

Swap Trimpot for regular Pot

I’m working on a project soon that is going to have, what I think is a lot of Pots, which means the panels will be huge, and that will require a shit ton of pots.

If I get a trimpot od the same value, can I use that instead?

Not related to my DIY Projrct, but here’s part of the reason for my 1year absence. About 2-years ago I decided to go back to school for an Educational Doctorate in Organizational Leadership... fast forward a bit, I was approached to write a short 20-page guide on Organizational Analysis. It was just...

Re: [Build Thread] 157 spaces of fun!

Some panel designs I have been working on. Klee Left/Right - These are going to be the top modules in the left cabinet. Instead of having the same panel design for both of them, I wanted them to mirror one another. This will also help to keep the patch cables out of the way as for both panels they w...

Inching forward one wire at a time... 4 modules done 6 to go.. Once I get the main wiring done for this half I’ll do the ground wires between jacks, flip it over and start the other half. While working on this I broke my 3D printer like a dumb ass... waiting for parts to arrive, but once they do, mo...

Re: 5u DIY Moog / Moslab like ?

Most use the same size components as eurorack for through hole. The only thing bigger is the panels and the knobs and there is much more off board wiring. I am building a DIY 5U system and I am finding that there are less options for 5U than eurorack. For my DIY 5U, I am doing mostly Barton and Non...
