Re: Old TV as white noise generator

If you have an old CRT television it *WILL* make white noise assuming it works. Controlling that noise is limited on the tv though. I wouldn't mess with modifiying a CRT unless you REALLY knew what you were doing with high voltages.

Re: New ADDAC210 Open Heart Surgery

So the question is, do I need to lay out $400-odd bucks for this prototyping board, or is there a less costly entry into doing all of this? I know how to solder, I do ok with a drill and a hacksaw, and I can read a meter. Is it as simple as obtaining and fitting one of these uProcessor boards to a ...

Re: What the modular's up to when no-one's listening

I was on the phone, and I noticed that the modular was still doing... something. It looked busy. Without being able to hear, I hooked the stereo mixdown up to the computer and hit record. Later, I listened back to the recording. Apparently it was busy making a horror movie soundtrack. It may be hau...

Re: BUILD THREAD: Vacuform Tube Filter kit

I've gotten my kit to assembled... still in the pre-calibration troubleshooting phase. A few documented test points would be useful here especially on such a densely packed board. as quite a few values got swapped between the BOM and the kit, it's hard to know what we're supposed to be seeing at dif...

any timeline on ERD/Raven?
2021 I'll revise the Raven!

Late this year should also see two or three companion modules for All the Colours...
Thank you for the update.

If the cliff socket is loose, there is a way to tighten it http://www.doepfer.de/home_e.htm "The 3.5 mm miniature jack sockets used in the A-100 system before about 2002 have been very sensitive to the diameter and shape of the jack plugs of the cables used to interconnect the modules. Re: (Hard) Trance Patch

Indeed, you'll never get the same sound as a proper supersaw by just detuning 7 saws. BUt you could use something like the ladik waveform animator (maybe deepest module ever?) or the doepfer wave multiplier I use the Doepfer A-137-2 myself How do you find the 137-2? I've seen a few uninspiring vide...

Re: (Hard) Trance Patch

Trance and hard trance leads are usually supersaws, first brought to the market with the Roland JP-8000/8080. Access Virus then were able to do similar leads with saws and Unison mode (actually many synths could get similar sounds for years before but could never do proper trance style leads becaus...

Re: is there a counter in eurorack?

Pretty sure what The Original Poster wants is something which outputs a staircase function that increments based a clock input. Options: 1)I don't know of a single module that does that but Barton has a module that does something similar: https://www.modulargrid.net/e/barton-musical-circuits-stepped...

While I certainly won't rule out a module based on panel color, I'd certainly would select silver aluminum over anything else if it remains an option.

Re: How bad is it to go a tad over the max mA?

My Make Noise 7u CV bus case has a max of 1400 mA. It's actually pretty hard to stay under 1400. I've done some concessions already, and now end up at 1418 mA according to modulargrid. Will that be a problem? I hardly ever use all modules at once, but maybe that's not important here... ? I'm not su...

Re: 3dPdModular, a new modular system

Anyway, this is a new instrument, I believe that's how people should see it, even though it imitates how the analog modulars work, which are not new instruments. Yep, that's the core of it- I don't think you have a clear, bold story that makes it compelling. People need to read a pitch that makes t...

What was the rationale of creating a module that "fits eurorack format" but then uses banana cables? It would be better to have the jacks match the format... or build this to fit a different format (like Buchla) so it could integrate better with existing systems. There aren't a lot of new developer...

21L500, 21L480, "P" Vactec Vactrols - Information/Datasheet needed

I recently purchased a second hand parts drawer full of optical parts from the local electronic surplus store...it included a good number of NOS Vactec Vactrols... problem is I can't find any info on them. I'm guessing these were probably manufactured in the 80's based on the notes for other parts. ...
