RME Hammerfall DSP Multiface: PCMCIA to PCI Express
I am a totally cluless if it comes to computers. Since my current laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad T400) is dying on me I have decided to buy something new. A stationary PC or desk top for now. However, I need some advice regarding my current soundcard and audio interface: I am currently using a RME Hammerfa...

Re: Looking for crappy music
The vinyl debut by Der Plan was allegedly recorded using a dictating machine. Hence rather crappy quality, yet, the best piece of work this outfit has ever done IMO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTVm2DEjgGw Le Voyage: D'Après Le Livre Des Morts Tibétain by Pierre Henry is astonishingly lo-fi give...

Re: Thomann prices to the UK no longer include VAT
Yeah I won’t be buying anything from the UK anymore. I have no wish to pay customs for stuff I can just as well get in Europe. The UK is located in Europe. Geographically but no longer economically or politically :tu: I don't get why many people use the terms Europe and EU interchageably. There are...

Mantis Decksaver
Today I have recieved the decksaver for my Tiptop Mantis case from Thomann.
It came with three semispherical shaped rubberylike spacers which were distributed a random inside the decksaver. I wonder whether it should be four of them (2 of them at each side)?

Re: Why do I need an envelope follower?
You'll need envelope follower to patch a transient designer: You will two envelopes one of them slewed and inverted and mix them together. Experiment with inversion and mix ratio to design the transient of the audio signal. A quick patch with the Blacet I/O and the Mixer/Processor and a VCA. (My cur...

Re: Fixed filter bank vs Multimode filter + mixer
A filter bank is way better in attentuate / bost smaller portions of a given frequency spectrum in a way more precise way. To my experience a MMF hardly never has the LPF as I want it to be when the HPF sits right and vice versa given it has only one frequency control. Very similar to a MMF yet IMO ...

Re: Why 1000pF as opposed to 1nF?
IIRC some do not use nF but pF and uF only. So there would be No 100 nF either but 0.1 uF.

Re: Module to change speed of CV modulation signal?
In the audio range a pitch shifter is the tool you are looking for as they transpose a digital copy of any audio signal up and down. Whether there is any pitch shifter that works in the sub audio range I have no idea.

edit: problem solved! Just calicrated the Burst once more. Now it works fine. I just finished mine. Had a problem where the Tempo out wouldn't work. Re checked my solder and it seems all good so far. Old thread. Same issue. The Tempo out on my Burst does not work. The Tempo out jack itself is OK: th...

Re: Waldorf nw1
You might also want to play with the quality and compression controls. I think these are decided at record time not playback time. I have to admit that I rather experiment with various sources and volumes. However, I will definately experiment more with the parameters suggested. Hope, I will find t...

Thanks for your efforts highly appreciated! You are star! My experimental set-up is amateurish and I don't make notes, however, it was input gain and / or the position of the Travel switch by now I can sample waveforms from my synth. Yet, I cannot record a drum sample. As you suggest the lack of "cl...

Re: Waldorf nw1
It did take a few tries to get it to behave as expected - so hoping your issue is like mine and just user confusion. Actually the recording should be quite straight forward according to both the video (see link above) and the manual. Yet, any attempt to record failed. The whole procedure seems to w...

Re: PCB Manufacturing in Europe?
One guy on ebay Germany offered an etching service which worked out fine for me for single pcbs. IIRC I mailed him Fonik's etching stencil for a Lowpass Gate and a couple of other projects. This is obviously for very small runs only. However, a similar service should be available in Poland. For prof...

Re: Waldorf nw1
By now I have upgraded to the latest firmware. Loading Text Wavetables via the NW1 Wavetable Editor works fine. However, what does not work is recording new wavetables, see my previous posting. Despite the original Waldorf wavetables are realy good, I acquired this piece to record my own. Any idea w...

Re: Waldorf nw1
Yesterday I have picked up a 2nd hand NW1. My main interest is to record my own wavetables. However, I failed and continue to fail on this. According to the manual recording wavetables is rather straight forward. And this Video suggests that the process is that easy. Yet, it does not work out for me...

Re: 10pin or 16pin connectors for bus board?
so 16pins seems to be what people are using for bus boards... right? Yes. You should use 16pin connectors on the bus board as. Since the bus board is often not clearly visible when connecting a new module I consider tactile feedback helpful. I think it is more difficutl to tell whether a 16pin conn...
