Re: ADDAC112 VC Looper & Granular Sampling

Impressive I/O. One might need a lot of outboard attenuators. Granular is hot in 2021.

Hm, not sure I agree about the lack of coherent approach for stereo delay processing. Stereo image can be preserved on a per-tap basis, with pan affecting balance. Ping-pong mode could simply swap left and right.
Perhaps. It’d be interesting to hear a proof of concept.

Re: Need plain-vanilla multi-LFO for panning—most bang-for-the-buck?

Interesting! So I need to vary offset ( not attenuation) for pan, and attenuation for level? I’m at a disadvantage: I can’t re-test my PM at the moment and I don’t have one of these Doepfer LFOs. But: - I think you’re going to find that you will need to significantly attenuate the LFOs before you s...

Re: Strymon Magneto - mono??

Recently, folks seem to really get hung up over this stuff, and I haven’t quite figured out what is driving it. There are three overall DSP effects topologies that I am aware of, as it pertains to stereo/mono: A) stereo inputs are summed to mono, the algorithm is applied, which often (but not always...

Re: Eurorack controls Unreal Engine!

There’s probably a similar strategy for controlling the ubiquitous Unity engine. Cuckoo recently shot an OP-Z tutorial that was really more of a Unity tutorial, and made it pretty clear that anyone sufficiently motivated could create interactive visuals with Unity, even without much or any coding. h...

Re: Need plain-vanilla multi-LFO for panning—most bang-for-the-buck?

Not 100% true. The volume faders become attenuators. The pan knob becomes an offset. I’m not in a position to re-test any of this at the moment—my modular is off-line for a renovation—but IIRC, using the fader will simply attenuate the incoming CV toward zero (otherwise, what is it relative to?). I...

Re: Need plain-vanilla multi-LFO for panning—most bang-for-the-buck?

The pan and level inputs on the PM have no attenuation.
PM Level CV inputs are 0–5v.
PM Pan CV inputs are -5v–5v.
I don’t have a A-145-4, but it probably outputs ±7v or something like that.
Implications.

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer

Loaded question... so first Jim had to give me a custom build because I couldn't calibrate the outputs to 1.2v/oct. With his build I get at least 6 octaves (I think 2 down and 4 up IIRC) which is plenty for me. Otherwise in this case yes a passive format jumbler that ties ground to the Buchla syste...

Right? Everything appears to be on the surface, seemingly no different operational ‘modes’, and it doesn’t try to do too much. (e.g., reverb is presumably to be handled downstream)

Re: A Small Verbos System vs. Reliability?

I’ve only ever had one Verbos module—a Harmonic Oscillator. It immediately had to go back to swap a capacitor because one of the parameters was not behaving right (biased). That fix was real easy at the time, because I live in NYC and Verbos used to be, too—I just carried the module to Mark for a tw...

Is it possible to select the preset of the SSM using voltage control? I know you can move forward backward or random but being able to sequence the presets you want using cv is a must for me. Anything that would do that? Absolutely yes, assuming you mean navigating the 16 “steps” (states/matrix con...

I can’t yet identify anything particularly interesting about the “modules” or apparent workflow that comprise the Enigiser—it all seems to be a pretty familiar semimodular formula. I rather suspect the sound from the bespoke circuitry is what is special/unique, and there’s probably no way to reprodu...

I have a Vector and will confess that the sequence generators are useful, at least up to a point. I don’t tend to stick with their results, but they can be a good way to get something started.

Re: Modules That Generate Melodies (not random)

How would you modify the sequencer's clock to keep things in time and grooving smoothly? Getting two sequencers running at different clock speeds is usually a job for a basic clock divider, which can also produce a reset if you need it. If you want to get polyrhythmic, then you’ll probably need a d...
