Re: Nord Drum 2

Anyone using a Nord Drum + a looper for a very hands on drum machine? I’m really interested in having a drum machine setup I can just jam a rhythm out on the fly and run with. Ideally for live techno. The Nord drum seems perfect for this, just not sure what the best looper option would be. I’ve bee...

Re: DIY builders for hire

Anyone in the US build full custom synths? I’m interested in commissioning something like a stripped down, durable Roland sh-1000. All I’m looking for is 2 vco’s, a filter, a simple envelope generator (attack & decay), and two LFO’s and a small keybed. 37 keys would be fine. I have experience solder...

That case is a pain in the ass. You will want a bigger one in 0.3 secs. I would go for the rampage and include a grids too :bananaguitar: Clouds doesn´t really apport nothing to a drummachine and the mixer is overkill. I would search sumthin smaller´n cheaper It seems like a really convenient case ...

Ok, I think I’m getting there. The Gonies seems like a perfect fit so I dumped Skis for the Synthrotek lpg. Saves some space and I can go between lpg and vca.

Also is the Befaco Rampage a good choice for a case this small? Kinda sad I can’t fit a clouds with it in there. Hm... μClouds is 8HP, that leaves 10HP for an AD/AR-style envelope generator... RT Gonies? I’d only have 9hp left so Gonies wouldn’t fit. Almost wondering if a uO_c would be a good optio...

So here’s what I’m thinking now. TT One for noise source and weird samples (this was an awesome suggestion!) Got rid of Ripples for MMF to save space. Plus it sounds very 303 which I LOVE. Erica Synths Fusion Mixer looks incredibly sweet. I‘ve been mainly a guitar player the last few years so I love...

True. I’m not sure what mixer I should go with though. Besides that do you think this covers my bases for a primarily percussion focused setup? Yeah, looks good. I would say that a small cheap sequencer like a Ladik S-142 might open up a lot of options as well, but I think there's a mode in Peaks t...

Looks like fun. I don't have many drum modules but my two favorites are Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas Alter and SSF Entity Percussion. Both can excel at most drum sounds but are equally good as baselines etc. Both accept tons of modulation so can cover quite a few sounds at the same time. As...

Small Techno Drums Setup

I'm thinking of getting an Intellijel Palette to make into a little techno drum machine/groove box for live improvisation. Here's my thought process. Looking for feedback and suggestions for how I can improve my plan and if I'm missing anything essential.[/img] I'm mainly looking at Mutable Instrume...

I don’t need samples. This will be triggering analog drum modules.

I’ve looked into the LXR and it just doesn’t look like something I want. I want something with very little to no menu diving.

Hi! Im working on a trigger sequencer at the moment. Its more like a baby 8 sequencer but just for triggers and is based on an arduino nano. It could have been done with 4017 decade counters but im not having much luck at the moment with CMOS so trying to get a solid ground with arduino first. I ha...

Multi-Channel DIY Drum Sequencer

I’m interested in building a drum sequencer, but haven’t found many designs that support multiple channels. I’ve seen little-scale’s homemade drum machine made with a teensy on youtube and that’s the closest thing I’ve seen so far. Any here have suggestions or advice? Here’s basically what I’m after...

Looks like there's a Midibox 808 style sequencer: http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_808.html However you'll have to design the front panel interface yourself, and it looks like a lot of pieces to put together and hope it all works :) i'm going to try it to turn my 9090 into more like a 909, but it's pro...

Building a drum machine - any advice?

So I want to build a drum machine. I’ve soldered guitar electronics together but this will be my first big endeavor into synth DIY. So far I plan on making a Tr-808 kick and snare using a stripboard layout. I’m interested in what mods I can do to further tweak their sounds and make them my own. Any ...

Definitely the Bugbrand DRM if you get one. :tu: I've been looking at getting a Marsh UDS analog drum synth so maybe check that out as well. (http://www.ruskeys.net/eng/base/march.php) If only the bugbrand was more available :( The UDS seems interesting. I see one on eBay but it’s in Ukraine. I gue...

Honestly, either would be awesome if I could afford one. Unfortunately they’re out of my price range and I haven’t found an alternative.

I’ll have to look into this. I’ve heard of the leploop but it didn’t seem that spectacular.

It might be mean recommending a Bugbrand DRM1/DRM1X, as they're not easy to come by, but they can be found, if you're patient, and will take you into some crazy drum territories (and beyond)... and there is a DRM2 coming sometime in the future, though it could be a while ;) Still... good things com...

Unique drum synths

I’m looking for a drum synth that can stand out from the crowd and pull off some interesting sounds.

So far I’m planning on trading for an ADX-1 soon, but I’m interested if there are any modular or semi-modular options with drum synths.

The more I think about it I really want something DIY that’s simple. Midibox is way too complicated for me.

Like I’d be fine with a TR style sequencer for the drums and an RYK M-185 sequencer for my synth. Are there any good options for that?

Hardware sequencer suggestions? - live performance/durable

I’m looking for a hardware sequencer to sequence a mode machines adx-1 and possibly another desktop synth. Mostly midi. Maybe cv in the future. My biggest thing I want to use this for playing live and improvising a bit. I really want something robust that’s like $500 at most. Ideally I’d like someth...
