Two thumbs up, Roger! Really liked the chirpy bits in the break :42-:55-ish.
Thanks! Chirpiness courtesy of Sputnik Source of Uncertainty Buchla clone (in MU) into Moog.

New Robotmakers Video - Within

Hello All, To commemorate the quarantine, we have a new Robotmakers video which features some modular Moog, among other things. The main keyboard part is actually a Kontakt instrument I made to mimic a Yamaha GX-1. I give it away on the Music Software section of Muffs. Also interesting is a computer...

Re: MOTM - Module Delineation (lines?) & Output Marking (nuts/washers?)

Not a fan of the typically careless MOTM user interface, so used colored washers to delineate what I considered to be control inputs. Here’s a crop from an old picture where you might be able to make out the blue plastic washers in some spots. Obviously just a matter of personal preference. Best reg...

I've also have added a small modification to each which means I can compensate for any 'scale' drift, from the front panel - which I have to do a few times during a live set. I get 5 octaves in tune no problem if I keep on top of it.... 8-) This is the key - it's the scaling of the 901A's that is t...

Looks reasonable to me but I'm no expert in circuit design. My only concern would be that the final output circuit might distort with 100% dry and 100% wet at the same time? :hmm: Might sound good if it does distort though! :hihi: Thanks - this all makes sense. Will report back when procrastination...

I thought I'd seen the instructions for performing the mod to get the "Emerson mode" somewhere on Muff's, but I can't find it. The standard 905 does a sort of cross-fade as you turn the knob, starting at full dry, moving to a mix of dry and wet signal, and finally to full wet with the knob fully clo...

These are good ideas. A few years back I put some Moog modules along with a few Moon switching and distribution modules into two portable cabinets (built by EMWhite). I used two DB25 cables to send CV and gate signals, respectively, from cabinet to the other. It being a Moog-centric build, I used Ci...

Happy New Year and a new Robotmakers tune

Happy New Year to all. Here’s a new Robotmakers tune for 2019 inspired by the discovery of a supergiant runaway star and some space imagery from NASA and elsewhere. Hope you like it even though it’s not all modular and there are no sequencers. Cheers, Roger

I lived all of this MOTM mayhem from the start and was one of the initial customers. As a result, I have some insight into this. I don't usually comment on the practices of other manufacturer's but I believe that Paul Schreiber has been unfairly characterized in this thread for abandoning the manufa...

IMHO, the demise of MOTM is a function of a series of bad business decisions by Synthtech. It was an act of hubris to create an idiosyncratic 5U panel format and refuse early cooperation with synthesizers.com. A focus on the small DIY market didn't help long term prospects. Imagine a world where MOT...

Is the 543CP already out? This teaser implies the dedicated audio mixer design by showing VU meters. The 543CP can be DC coupled for cv use and is voltage controlled. Since Moon already have a smaller single space attenuator/mixer, I would guess this to be full size (not CP) with panning but no vol...

Anyone know if the reissue 901b's use the dual-ganged wirewound pots for the frequency verniers like the originals? :deadbanana: I think I know the answer. (Obscure fact: the Don Martin 9501b's did. That's right, that shitty company made more authentic reissues than Moog Asheville...) Yeah, I have ...

Getting a constant beat rate from two or more oscillators over several octaves is a simple patch that can be dialed in on any system. Basically you just change the scale or intonation of the one oscillator. Well, not really. Let's say you start your exponential response VCO1 at 100hz, and tune VCO2...

A number of Emerson's riffs and lead lines demonstrate (exploit?) the tracking ~flaw~ (feature?) ... the higher up the keyboard he goes the worse (intense?) the beating becomes. Emerson never had a setup, as far as I can tell, based on 901ABB sets. His earliest model 35 was set up with separate 901...

Watching CZ's video above challenges my understanding of the diff between the 901 and 921 designs. I read somewhere (here but somewhere here) that the 901's had a different design in the way that exponential converter exists on the driver or on OSC itself vs. the 921s and thought that I understood ...

Which brings me to: are the Synth Werk VCO’s also prone to pitch instability the way they the original Moog ones are? I dont own moog so cant directly compare.. but the SW are pretty damn stable.. the octave range is not brilliant.. but the older 901 are apparently the same. I have both 921s and 90...

This is the point where I chime in to write that the only secret sauce in 901A/BBB sets is the fact that the Moog 901B VCOs are linear response and share a single exponential converter in the 901A. This means that CV offsets result in constant hz offsets, and not constant PERCENTAGE frequency offset...
