yeah the AC coupled linear FM input is definitely a pot - you can see in the picture on the R*S page as opposed to the mockup

Ah, good to know. Thanks for the confirmation. And btw your videos are aces!

Re: Serge PCO FM behavior?

I’ve been watching the videos on cybernetics and analog AI by mfaraday, and I noticed that his Dual PCO has a potentiometer in place of the AC linear FM input. I wonder if R*S ended up opting for this arrangement in all of their production units or if it’s available as an option on the pcb. I sent a...

Re: R*S Variable Slope capacitors

Do you know what’s up with the PCB having both C5, C6, C9 and CB5, CB6, CB9? The BOM doesn’t differentiate these positions and it specifies only 3 caps rather than 6. Interestingly, the picture in the euro build doc has all 6 installed, but with a mix of film and ceramic. The CB caps are all bypass...

Re: R*S Variable Slope capacitors

C5, C6 and C9 all should be installed. C5 and C6 are phase compensation caps for the integrators as used on most serge filters and likely less critical. C9 I'm not sure about but I tend to think that with the faster opamps driving things there that stability cap might be critical. Do you know what’...

Re: Serge PCO FM behavior?

Yeah, that’s how I’d assume the linear FM inputs work. And I also kinda suspected that the VC F control is exponential, but it’s nice to get confirmation. It’s a little disappointing for me, though, as I really like having control over the depth of linear FM.

Serge PCO FM behavior?

I've got a question about the FM behavior on the Serge PCOs. I'm specifically interested in the new R*S version, though I assume that the FM circuitry is the same (or at least similar to) other iterations of the PCO. If anyone out there has experience or knowledge on the subject, I'd be most appreci...

Re: R*S Variable Slope capacitors

My VCFS is as yet unbuilt, but I've puzzled over this myself. The documentation and PCB are really unclear, especially with having both C & CB 5s, 6s, and 9s. The 4U build doc does mention that the omissions represent 'radical part choices,' and if you look at the euro version build doc there is no ...

Those red end cheeks look great! I went for a similar engraving in the bamboo enclosure I made for mine (also Ponoko).

Re: The 2020 Show Us Your DIY Builds Thread!

They appear to have reverb on all the Voltrons (they dont but it just looks like it!) I'm confused. On the panels shown on the Elby site I see reverb modules on only the 4 & 6. I have the original Vintage Voltron panels for both the 4 and the 6 (my 4 remains unbuilt); the original 4 also has reverb...

Re: The 2020 Show Us Your DIY Builds Thread!

Very nice indeed. I was interested to see Elby restarting these. Seeing an original is fascinating. I’m glad it’s a beast I picked up a VV4 & 6 awhile ago before they announced their new panels. But I am glad they’re producing another run of these panels as well. I can’t say that I’m in love with t...

Nice panel!
Sometimes you can still force a self tapping screw in there when the hole's a little off.
Thanks! I should definitely give it a shot. It couldn't hurt. If all else fails I'll probably end up widening the holes a bit and then fiddling with u-nuts.

Re: The 2020 Show Us Your DIY Builds Thread!

I finished up the wiring and calibration on a Vintage Voltron 6 panel the other night. I powered it up and was jamming on it earlier tonight, and this thing is a friggin BEAST! Seriously massive sound possibilities in a single Serge panel to be had here. I still need to figure a few things out like ...

Re: CGS 113 VCM bottom section shape

This seems to be pretty standard behavior. I just finished a build of the cgs113 as well and I also get a lot of offset from both the middle and lower sections. For me the lower section is especially loud, and especially on the dc coupled output. With no input and just monitoring the output I can he...

I just published a new track on Soundcloud. This one is an exercise in limitation; it is my stab at the so-called 'three module challenge.' It's amazing what you can accomplish with a minimal setup. In this case, only the following eurorack modules are used: Make Noise 'Maths,' Toppobrillo 'Sport Mo...

70,000 Veils of Light (into Darkness Fade)

Here's a teaser track from a noise/powerelectronics project I'm currently working on. It's performed entirely on a 2x84hp eurorack system, with some slight editing and eq applied in Ableton. I'm hoping to have the full album ready by Fall. In the meantime, enjoy! http://soundcloud.com/presentabsent/...

Just finished a very thin wooden case for this I'd be interested to see pics if you have any. My Homebuilt kit recently arrived in the mail and I'm starting to consider enclosure options--I was thinking of going the wood case route rather than metal boats. Just curious, are you using rails to mount...

I've got a new track up on Soundcloud. Compared to my other contributions, this one's a bit more delicate, refined. It is based on three sine waves which are tuned to an A Major triad; the judicious application of frequency modulation, filter resonance, and acoustic feedback produces an archaeology ...

drcz - Congratulations on the tape release! I'm streaming off Bandcamp now, and it sounds exquisite. I'll look forward to playing it through my actual stereo. I was thinking I'd order a physical copy, but I couldn't find any shipping info. I'm assuming it will be fairly expensive to send to the US....
