Re: uJOVE, micro version of JUVE multimode filter

i got mine from a builder in germany (i am based in berlin) i have quite strong noise problems with it (strong hum, large noisefloor). two examples (direct input into my soundcard - unity gain) 1. fully open lowpass 2. fully closed lowpass its the uJove v1.0 I dont know if this is the same behaviou...

Re: ornaments+crimes extended / polymorphic 4x16bit CV generator

Thanks for the ideas! I found that pins 14, 15, & 16 on the DAC were testing positive for continuity between each other. I've tried desoldering them but am having a tough time getting it with braid, so I've used this dilemma as a justification to buy a cheap hot air station :) I think this basicall...

Re: ornaments+crimes extended / polymorphic 4x16bit CV generator

Unfortunately the standard O_C guide doesn't help me much with test points since I'm not quite good enough at electronics to translate between the original and micro boards. This is also my first SMD project, so it's entirely possible I did some joints wrong. I know this is going to be a really ann...

Re: Explanation of how modules "putting noise on the ground" bus?

Many thanks Graham! I think our replies were made around the same time and i think you filled in some gaps in my last post (which I will leave not edit to create more confusion). You have definitely provided further detail to chew on. You are actually talking about two separate problems and putting ...

Re: Explanation of how modules "putting noise on the ground" bus?

I realise I might have confused my question in the last paragraph of my request by talking about "this issue" as if I meant the power-supply issue but both your answers have given me some things to think about (many thanks!) and look into things which I had not even thought of re: the power-supply a...

Explanation of how modules "putting noise on the ground" bus?

I have been reading the threads on here discussing the benefits and issues with different kinds of power-supplies and come across a number of references to how badly designed modules (or at least modules that were not designed to avoid it) "put noise on the ground bus" or something similar to that. ...

Re: uJOVE, micro version of JUVE multimode filter

Going through the calibration process seems to I think to have fixed the high pitch noise but many thanks for explaining. Will keep an ear out. Sometimes in the excitement of fixing something, I have found my brain edits out problems with a module which I later hear!

Re: uJOVE, micro version of JUVE multimode filter

Finally had the time to install the fix boards in my pair of 1.0 uJoves. This is an absolutely essential fix imo. Its noise floor is dead quiet compared to before making it so much more fun to use without the bleed now, not to mention I can finally hear clean sub bass. Just had the realization of h...

Re: midiphy LoopA

Many thanks for taking the time to get to the very foundation of my questions! The funny thing is that it is hard for me to imagine fully using all 36 scenes in many cases but I would like to start to do performances at some point and it seems crazy to buy multiple sequencers for that if it can be a...

Re: midiphy LoopA

Having just come across this in the last couple of days and getting quite excited about it as a possible addition to the setup, after reading what I can about it I had a question which i could not find an answer to. In many ways, I think it is not a deal breaker but I wondered about how LoopA behave...

Re: Rampage DIY build problem - fall-time on channel A very long

Sorry, I missed this exchange. Did you get it figured out in the end? I thought I had updated this thread when I solved the problem. What I had stupidly done is failed to solder one of the pins on the headers connecting the two boards. This was not at all apparent because that particular solder poin...

Many thanks jakob! For some reason I did not get an email notice on your response so just seeing it now. Your explanation is going to require some digesting for someone who is still learning but how you have broken the circuit apart in an image is immediately helpful and I think I more or less can s...

Rampage DIY build problem - fall-time on channel A very long

Hi all, I have been struggling to troubleshoot a DIY rampage for the last couple of months. It has led to much learning about analogue circuits but I am still not able to fix the problem. I re-flowed a lot of the circuit, switched the op-amps and I think checked most of the connections (there are lo...

re: level

Before, I get neck deep in trying to troubleshoot a non-existent problem, can anyone else confirm for me whether uJove is a more quiet filter? I did some some troubleshooting, the module seems more be more or less working yet I realised that the output volume is considerably less than my other filte...

Two Tone (Vactrol Gate) - NSL-32 really long release?

Starting my journey into vactrols and I built a Two Tone ( https://pushermanproductions.com/product/b-moren-two-tone-vactrol-gate-pcb-2hp-fr4-panel/ ). What I am finding strange about it is that the release is extremely long. Maybe a second to three. Though I know vactrols have longer release (so to...

So I fully expected that someone would say check the pins again and was preparing to say: I already did. Gave another little look. Something completely microscopic. Thought: #*&@)$)&*# it, lets try flooding it with flux and pass the iron over it. There must have been a tiny little thread of solder a...

Problem with peaks running

Hello all. This is a first post so thanks for the patience if I am asking in the wrong place... So I have built a DIY peaks. I have built and uploaded the firmware yet basically nothing seems to happen with the module. Completely inactive, no leds, nothing. I have tried using the ST-LINK software in...
