Do you Sit or Stand?

I recently moved my setup from a standing-oriented setup to one where I now sit when I play my keys and modular. My reason for doing this was that advancing arthritis made it uncomfortable for me to stand for long periods. For the modular it means that I do have to stand up to reach higher controls ...

Re: Modular Control via Brainwaves featuring TONTO

You're welcome KSS.

I was searching for dimensions on TONTO's cabinets when I stumbled on this article. I thought it was pretty cool. Primitive, sure, but everything has to start somewhere.

Re: How to redesign a panel without any source files or information

One method is to scan the module and then use the scanned image as a separate graphic layer. That way you can place your new design on top of the old design and then hide the scanned image layer to see the result. Printing on transparency film is also helpful when you have to overlay your image onto...

Modular Control via Brainwaves featuring TONTO

Interesting stuff happening in Calgary, Canada... From CTV News; CALGARY -- A Calgary performer accustomed to singing while playing piano is creating new music by recording sounds controlled by her brainwaves. Recording artist and neuroscientist Angie C has captured the experimental sounds while wor...

I like the Oakley Deep Equinox but for getting weird I enjoy the MFOS 8 Stage Phase Shifter. Here is a comparison I did between the two a while back https://youtu.be/nRqYFIQiQd0 and here was a quick demo I made for a customer of the MFOS prototype https://youtu.be/BvfvsrEmaC4 More info is available ...

Re: Any gritty delay options?

Can you describe it's vibe a bit more? I am looking for something that becomes a sound source in of itself, not just a space-creating effect (I have plenty of rack units for that). I'll try to put a video together as I experiment with it. It's still very new to me. I understand that in an evil para...

Re: Any gritty delay options?

I finally got my Blacet Time Machine and while I haven't given it a full workout it is definitely a different beast than other delays in my system. These include the MFOS VC Echo and some external delays including the Electro Harmonix Memory Man and Pigtronix Echolution 2. I sometimes route to these...

Seems like kind of a lot, considering it's just a DSO 138 panelized. It's very similar to mine... It's actually a lot more than the DSO 138. 4 Simultaneous inputs for example. Don't you mean coolio "if it were a DATA behind a 5U panel" dammit if only someone would work on this!!! I know right!

Re: Best Fixed Filter Bank?

I have the Yusynth Filterbank Pro from Rich @ Lower West Side studios and it’s fantastic, definitely recommend this one! I have eight bands going into a SSL Octal Linear VCA with the AD/AR expander which is triggered by a Dotcom Midi Gates. Love this setup! With white noise it sounds like an old an...

Re: Your experience with SVF in MU

Thoraday, Flareless - thank you for your comments and video! You're very welcome. It's one of my favourite filters. Here's an article I wrote after building my first SEM. The new PCBs from SynthCube make the build even easier by not adding the initial trace-cut necessary on the earlier boards.

Re: Best Fixed Filter Bank?

Is anyone else having a problem reading anything beyond page # 2 in this thread?

The last post I can see is from April 16th.

I'm hoping that by making this post it will fix something (at least for me). Not sure what's up.

Since Dave mentioned Resonant EQs I thought I'd throw in a video comparing a Yusynth Fixed Filter Bank to a CGS202 Serge Resonant EQ (2U version)

They are very different animals!

Re: 5U: Your surprised-you-module(s)

In an earlier post I mention the MFOS 8 Stage Phase shifter as a surprised-you-module I was looking through my YouTube archives and found an old video I made for the first customer I built one of these for. The prototype module I made has a cardboard panel and the video was only recorded with my pho...

Re: Tunning of "free running" (0.000v) ocillators

I don't know if there is a fixed Standard but I tune all my oscillators to C when I zero my modular.

For oscillators without quick Range Switching I will often tune to C in different octaves. Just to switch things up a bit.

The Gene splicer, hard to see that it does what I want, but I could be wrong (I usually am).

No, I think I am in this case. I don't think it'll help.

Re: How often do you unpatch your system?

My reasons for unpatching are similar to some of those mentioned here; - I unpatch after I'm done with a sound rather than a track. - I unpatch after I've explored what I can do with a sound and my other collection of hardware - I leave certain things permanently patched. For example my left & right...
