Re: Is Divkid øchd the best Batumi alternative in less HP?

No trying to figure out what parameter you are changing. I dumped Batumi because I was tired of a single control having so many functions. Hm? Is that with the expert firmware? I use the regular firmware and I don't think there are several fuctions for each control. Or am I missing something? :hmm:...

Re: Ladik love

I'm curious about people's experience with Ladik's panning mixers - the a-174, a-175, etc. How quiet are they. At one point I had a panning module from Ladik that was quit noisy (a-410) so I wanted to see how people were liking the a-170 series. As far as the a-410s go, they work great for panning ...

Re: Ladik love

I see there are a bunch (13) of new modules up on Ladik's website. He says he worked the whole time the store was closed making new modules. You can always count on him to come through. Now I will be broke again. Good looking slider (stereo) mixer. Glad I bought those mono slider mixers last fall. s...

I donno, but i think there are pretty slim plugs around. Personally the tiny-mania makes not really sense to me, and i also dont like it. I like space! I like flat/shallow designs :) but so far i am alone in that district.. I kinda just wanted to make an example and reflect the trend in eurorack to...

Re: Is Divkid øchd the best Batumi alternative in less HP?

To me, the big difference is Batumi can change so many parameters but only gives you one control per channel. OCHD may only have one control but you don't have to invest much time into controlling it. No trying to figure out what parameter you are changing. I dumped Batumi because I was tired of a s...

Re: Another ubiquitous "My modular journey"?

Hey Peng33, What is that in the last picture with the chaotic looping sequencer? . It looks cool, I have a Turing Machine with the Greyscale V2 panel (26HP) and it rocks as far as just creating a very usable CV by itself and triggering different events (envelopes, drum modules and sample players wit...

Re: How to fill in the last 14hp ?

Actually, I think an external mixer will suit me better in that regard since (a) Its probably cheaper, (b) I can also pan/mute my other instruments, (c) I do not care too much about VC panning (yet). I use a small external mixer with 12 channels. Just make cables that go from 1/8" TS to whatever th...

Re: Making your own panels with a desktop CNC

I have not read this whole thread but I see you are using a "mister" type of coolant dispenser. I am a machinist and sometimes do about the same things you are doing with Aluminum panels. One trick that I have found out is to use isopropanol as a coolant. A machinist would call what comes out of the...

Re: Today my small discovery was...

I bought multiples of several modules. Braids, I love it and I thought it would not be available after Plaits came out. And Mysteron, I heard that it was to be discontinued and NLA. And one or two more that I really like, like BIA and of course Dixie IIs and Pittsburgh Waveforms oscillators. . Today...

I have recently fallen back in love with Rubicon, but since I have never had a V2, I don't know what I could say about your question. But, get one or the other. I think probably either Rubicon is super. . And, a ten turn pot (with a locking dial?) sounds great, but how do you (or how would I) implem...

Re: Odd problem, rack screw rust out of nowhere?!

Now that you have received an aerospace grade corrosion primer lesson, order some stainless steel screws and don't worry about it again.
I like to use hex drive socket head cap screws or even button head hex drive screws, in stainless of course.

Mcmaster Carr in the US is a good source.

Re: Odd problem, rack screw rust out of nowhere?!

That is very odd.
I would keep an eye on the screws that you replace those with.
I wonder if that could be a galvanic corrosion problem.
Galvanic corrosion happens when there is a flow of current through dissimilar metals.
I am not sure what that means for you though.

Is my Bifold on Steroids? . Sounds more like it is on acid. I guess this is what I was getting at before. It is capable of some very nice and calm sounds. Just before it goes into crazyfold, it sounds just a little warm, then a little wild, and then (see above) . . Yeah, the neatest thing that Bifol...

Re: The Disting Effect and new features for digital modules

-SNIP- Size is an interesting topic unto itself. I understand it is Eurorack that paved the way to smaller size, relative-affordability, and a large ecosystem of producers. Eurorack already is the miniaturized modular synthesizer, and a lot of what it has become is due to SMD and sophisticated off-...

Re: New intellijel wavefolder/crossfader: bifold

The Dixie ii+ is good because the octave switch is helpful for tzfm work. Try the Dixie an octave lower and see how much better it sounds than at the same octave as the Rubicon. The reason I mentioned Mangrove is that it has a couple functions that make it useful as a modulation source. One, the tr...

The Ladik S-186 Dual trig/gate delay.
Works well for changing the timing of triggers. (and gates)
delays way more than 1 second.
Also has a wet/dry button.

Re: Need some serious generative module advice..

I don't see many actual sound sources.
Plaits or Braids.
Dixie II+ or Tides. Tides has many uses.
Also, the Erica Pico modules have numerous VCO and other types of sound sources.
And yes, Turing machines are great as random, generative CV sources.

Re: Best discontinued modules

Small, beautiful and discontinued, but still available: grab yourselves an NE Sinc Iter while stocks last. Yes, Sync Iter by NE is a great little oscillator/LFO. It has some wild waveforms for LFO duties and goes down to minutes per cycle. But it is a gritty (or smooth) VCO just like most Noise Eng...
