Re: Ableton Live & sequencers, workaround for latency issues

VSTi sequenced via Ableton but the audio is going into the Mixer and then back into Ableton. If you send it out to the mixer and get it back individually in Live, you use your mixer track as an external effect and then you should use the External Effect device in order to get the latency compensati...

Re: Ableton Live & sequencers, workaround for latency issues

Yeah the VST is sequenced with Live. If the VST is sequenced in Live you shouldn't have any issue if things are set up correctly (unless it doesn't report its correct latency). My machines recorded into live are 8-9ms late because they're going into a mixer first and not directly into the soundcard...

Re: Akai S950 Sampler Sound - ALM MUM M8 and samplerate-reduction?

I'm not expert in aliasing but the most sought after things in the 12 bits sampler seems to be their proper bit reducing function, so just taking any bit reducer like a Doepfer seems to be missing the key point in this.

Re: Can you hear the difference between audio interface A/D converters?

IMHO the sound precision one can perceive was surpassed a few decades ago and today any AD (excluding amp sections) seems just top notch. And anyway no one cares about this when listening to music. Maybe 2500 bucks is a bit too much for two channels, so the motivation brought to you by the marketing...

Thanks !

Those ones seem to be exactly what I'm looking for (except not M3, but that may still fit).

I thought it was a pretty common product but it seems not...

How can I find L brackets sized for M3 screws ?

How do you call them ? :hmm:

I need to mount some PCBs at 90 degrees of a panel. Ideally I would need one angle of the bracket with a "stretched" hole so I can adjust its position regarding the holes placement on the PCB.

Re: Ableton Live & sequencers, workaround for latency issues

The rules: as soon as you use the computer for any audio, every audio need to go through it so it can delay it so everything plays in sync. So even if you use an hardware mixer, as soon as you turn on the computer you should stop listening to its analog outputs and listen to the soundcard. If I unde...

Re: Do you have to manually fix times when recording into a DAW?

The computer can easily have a decent clock. All of this mess exists because Live's delay compensation doesn't apply correctly with external MIDI clock + people don't know that it's meant that if you record an external sequenced sound you have to record with Monitor set to Off (otherwise it's only i...

Re: Do you have to manually fix times when recording into a DAW?

If you don't use external sequencers, be sure to sequence external midi instruments with an External instruments track and that you record any audio with Monitor set to Off. Once done, if you still have weird delay, you could check if your soundcard driver report a wrong latency and correct it in th...

Not sure it's the VCF... You should probe in the audio path to find at which point it fails.

Re: Two Thousand Six Hundred (TTSH) Ver.1 General build thread

If someone may be interested, I have ordered by mistake some parts for the v1 instead of v2. For example the DC/DC (AEE00CC18-LS) converter which is pretty expensive (I have 2 of those), and a ton of cable connectors that I don't know what to do with...

It only works if I set the Impakt to internal clock, and set the Cirklon to receive MIDI control on the appropriate channel.
You do not need to set up anything to get the Cirklon slaving to incoming transport messages.

Re: What eurorack modules do i need to record into DAW?

Try to connect and see if it's too high... my mixer has its unity gain point at about 11oclock so it attenuates under.

Attenuation is just a resistor... if you're in a hurry or don't want to spend, you can take clips cables and resistors or, better, potentiometers ((A/log)50 or 100K usually).

Re: How would you sync all this together?

Choose the machine with which you do the most edits to control external devices as master for the transports messages (start/stop/clock), so you press play and stop in front of you most of the time, and obviously for notes and CCs too as it needs to... I would say the Beatstep Pro as it is the most ...

if we are purely talking square waves, how can one raw square wave sound different than another? unless it's not really a square wave? AFAIK even if you see a nice square on your oscilloscope, the most significant part is the start of its variations. If you zoom in you can usually see a more or les...

If you don't use the thru zero, then it's relevant to replace with Dixie II+. Its octave switch though is not as handy than the rotary one on the Rubicon v2.

Yeah just move the internal cables position and at the same time check if the sound change depending on where they are.

Why does a square waves sound detuned when in the lower range ?

Why does a square wave sound detuned when its pitch is in the lower range ? A typical example is with a SH-101 sub oscillator. I initially thought it was an inner flaw, but doing some bassy squary chords on my Novation Peak made me found this seemed to be universal. Then the next question is how to ...
