Re: Help with sequencers

You're going to need some way to get the clock from your DAW into the modular. Easiest way is a MIDI to CV converter. Check Intellijel umidi (https://intellijel.com/shop/eurorack/umidi/) but there are others. I have used the umidi a lot and it is a very reliable converter that provides clock and res...

Re: Ornament & Crime - Quantize - Transpose - How?

to transpose the output CV up or down you can use the OC control inputs for fine tuning ( see manual page 17 and 18) or the up down buttons for octave transpose. I wanted to transpose within the scale. I have a precision adder so will investigate that before the O&C. When you say "manual page 17 an...

Re: Ornament & Crime - Quantize - Transpose - How?

Thanks. So it doesn't work the way I hoped. At least I know and wasn't just doing something wrong. I'll look at a workaround.

Ornament & Crime - Quantize - Transpose - How?

Hoping someone can help on the following. I want to use O&C in Quantermain mode as a quantiser that I can transpose within scale degrees using a keyboard or other CV source to the CV Aux input. For example: For simplicity lets say I have a repeating C3 note in a C minor scale. I want to shift to the...

Re: Moon Modular 511D Dual Envelope Generator DOA

I have a few Moon modules where the jack sockets needed 'working in'. For example I have the 505 filter and thought is wasn't working when I first got it - no signal. Turns out if I put pushed on the jack at the input socket a little it worked. Take pressure off it stopped. Took a while for the thin...

I placed an order with them on 08 December. Delivered the next day. I've bought from them many times in the past and always had excellent service. Did you get a confirmation email on the sale?

Re: Dotcom Alternate Power Supplies?

Got it. Then I would suggest: 1. Q137 mounted on the rear so you don't take up valuable front panel space, or if you don't care about the LED indicators for 15V & 5V you can save a few bucks and substitute an off-the-shelf panel mounted IEC inlet with power switch, as in this Mouser search: https:/...

Re: Euro to 5U (or 5U to Euro) cables

I bought a range of lengths of the kenable cables that Kattefjaes provided the link to (Amazon UK). Arrived yesterday and working as expected. the 50cm lengths are nice to connect between the racks to modules that are close to each other without an annoying overlength getting in the way. Working fin...

Re: Euro to 5U (or 5U to Euro) cables

Hello. I hope I am not threadjacking here with this question, but are you saying the 1/4 adapters "stay in" (get stuck inside) the 1/4 jacks, as the 3.5mm cables pull out of them too easily? They don't get 'stuck'. It's just that when removing if you don't fully grip the adapter when pulling then t...

Re: Euro to 5U (or 5U to Euro) cables

... Do you use any kind of strain relief or support on the cable entry into the 1/4" plug? It seems to me that a typical 3.5mm cable will move around without any relief or support and the connection will break over time. Some heat shrink tubing works fine .... usually a short segment to cover the s...

Re: Euro to 5U (or 5U to Euro) cables

I have yet to buy a Eurorack module but I assure you my wife tells me (correctly?) I have too many noise-making Instruments already. However, for the inevitable “Old dogs, new tricks” day, I have a couple of options that both come with “no cables were harmed...” certification, the Dotcom Q122 mini ...

2.) I fixed that for you (highlighted above). The "jack" is the female part ... the "plug" is the male part. Helps to use the proper term so as not to create confusion. Yes yes yes ...I am a pedantic bastard, so what's new? :tu: 2.) I do this ALL THE TIME. I buy patch cables terminated at both ends...

I can make you some 1/8 - 1/4 converter cables at any length with colour sleeves if needed... mail from London, so no import taxes. PM me and we can see if I can sort you out.
Thanks. I may take you up on that.

Euro to 5U (or 5U to Euro) cables

I am new to 5U and have retained a reasonable sized Eurorack case with my favourite or hard to obtain in 5U modules. I like to patch between the cases and I have some 1/8" to 1/4" plug adapters that work but I find them a little annoying to use. They add bulk, get lost or stay in when I pull the cab...

Re: What do you use to tune your oscillators and synths?

I use either a Korg CA-1 guitar tuner or Mordax Data (depending if I have the Data used for something else at the time). The Korg handles the levels just fine.

Re: Getting rid of effects modules and using vsts instead

I have Strymon and Eventide pedals next to my modular. The modular can be used without the DAW, clocked to an Elektron Analog 4 (to provide midi clock to the pedals and the modular via midi > cv), or everything can be clocked to the DAW via midi and midi > CV. Pedals are on a send / return to my sou...

Re: 5U getting started thread?

A few comments from someone experienced with synths but still a relative newbie with a modest 5U system - I have a couple DotCom ++ modules. Yes, they are more cramped than others, but my view is that if they are not functions you are constantly tweaking, they are great for the added functionality....

never knew the moon didnt have lin fm or sync..! get different osc ! at the beginning its not an issue but after time you will want/need it.. It's not exactly clear what the Freq. Okay, how about this one? As stated above I am on a similar path and still finding my way with 5U - but my personal thoughts looking at this: - I find some of the dotcom ++ modules to have too many functions and be a little too cramped. One of the reasons I am moving away from Eurorack. Although I ...

Re: 5U getting started thread?
Looks like we’re on similar trajectories with our 5U systems! :hihi: I’ll have to wait on some funds to arrive before I start ordering my system but will probably start much smaller than my initial eurorack foray. ;)
Indeed it does. I'm downsizing euro quite a lot. Haven't quite fi...
