Re: ? using NCom/Logic to sync Serge to External Drum Machine

Probably can run the audio of a short drum sound into a slope generator with a fast rise and slow fall to make a signal that can trigger other things.

The impulse sound from the Machinedrum will directly trigger Serge modules, just directly wiring the drum machine output to a trigger input.

You can run multiple outputs of the gate sequencer into one input, it will work as a wired OR. One downside of this is that you have to partition the stages among different trigger inputs, for example you if you have a bass drum and snare patched up you can't have them hit on the same beat (or they ...

I have a R*S panel with a WAD that went bad. It turned out to be the same issue, one bad SAD1024. I found one on Reverb within a few weeks for like $80. That's like a handful of Pomonas, not too bad to get it working again. Recently I found a Loft 440 delay/flanger with 4 SAD1024's for $400. I bough...

I started with a BEMI Easel, which I still have. I added a cabinet with 4 panels of 4 units of 200r, and then 8 panels of Serge. I have these setup as 3 separate systems. I use them individually or together in various combinations. I still make music with just the 208 on occasion. So: A. The 208 is ...

The TWS is not as versatile as the TWM, but it's still pretty neat. With an oscillator into the three sections in series there are many different tones found by setting the three knobs, and there are 6 CVs inputs to try. I've also had good luck inserting one section into a feedback loop to get a mor...

I have a Buchla system, so I’m wondering if I can sync the Serge by sending a pulse out from the Buchla. Or visa versa- anyone have any experience with that? I have both. Buchla will trigger Serge stuff no problem. I also send CVs back and forth. I have 200r, not 200e stuff. There are issues with n...

I think of the gain knob more as an offset to the modulation, and not a control of it's own. With a full DUSG modulation I have gain at 9:00, and make small adjustments from there. I patch a constant voltage to the gain cv if I want to hear something w/o modulation. (this is on LW 4U, but I'm guessi...

My choice would be another 258.
I have a 4x4 case with: 212; 258/257/245; 248; 258/216.

You'd have my system with the 277 instead of the 248. Pure black knobs!

The CV inputs are not even exponential, so you can't sum voltages and get equal intervals (meaning you can't transpose a sequence on one input with an offset on the other input).

Feedback is my favorite use for sure. Flipping around the routing switch is then super fun.
Patching in some filtered noise is nice. I've also run Serge osc/shape through and that sounds cool too, like a cross between the systems.

Nord Modular has comprehensive FM and can get to similar places.

I use the MARF all the time. I have had no glitches. I record live and play for hours with no problems. I've only taken it on stage one time. The 216/245/258's were so temperature sensitive, that I didn't / couldn't notice anything on the 248. I never use the memory. I probably should, since it forg...

I sometimes get weird behavior when I'm not well grounded. Try plugging a banana cable into the ground jack on the side and hold the metal on the other end. Does that make things better or different?

My square osc has jumped up in frequency by like 6 octaves. It goes above audible about 1/4 turn from the bottom. The frequency knob and CV inputs still seem to work. Schematics for 200r modules?

I'm looking for the schematic and board component overlay for the 258 Rev 2.0. I don't see it on any sites. My 258 has started misbehaving. I have a tech that has worked on some Serge stuff that I trust to fix my 258. I'd like to give him some more information, rather than just handing over a broken...

I have a VV3 and it is indeed awesome. Using the routers for pulses/gates is super cool. There are per stage gate outs on each programmer and the sequencer. The routers can be used as 2:1 or 1:2, and cascaded into more complex networks. There are per stage pulse inputs and forward and backwards cloc...

Serge Wilson Analog Delay video with clean delay?

I have a misbehaving WAD (in a Sturm und Drang panel) that someone is taking a look at for me. It's passing audio, but super mangled even with all knobs at normal positions and no CV. Does someone have video or audio of a WAD doing a clean echo or chorus or flange? We'd like a reference to know what...

I have VCFQ, VCFS, and 73 VCF. I strongly recommend the variable slope (VCFS) as a 2nd filter. It's my favorite filter ever. Mine is from LW. It sounds just so good.

wavecircle, your two panel system is perfect! I'm working my way through the IG videos, really good stuff.

I have 2 4x4 seq-programmers in a VV panel and 1 3x8 in the 73-75.
I also use a Buchla MARF, 245, 216, and 218 occasionally with the Serge. They all work great. For a while I used the MARF and a LW animal-like panel as a standalone 2 panel system, it was super fun.

2-3 weeks and 1-2 recordings max for me. Never less than a week if I have something good going. I also never turn it off and often play for just a few minutes just before or after work sometimes.
