Re: I'm sorry, really, but I'd like your opinions re QPAS or Stereo Dipole or Parallax

I spent a couple hours comparing the QPAS and the Stereo Dipole filters. Both are amazing filters, and absolutely worth owning. The QPAS has more of a distinct sound signature it leaves on most patches, while the Dipole is more of a chameleon when it comes to timbre. Nothing better or worse there. T...

Re: SSL Six. New small format mixing desk

...Let us know how you get on with it - I keep thinking about the Frap Tools CGM then the idea of getting a Six crops up again. I thought about the Six for a long time before getting one. Immediately after my order I had buyer's remorse--thinking it wouldn't make much of a difference in my studio. ...

Re: SSL Six. New small format mixing desk

...Picked up the SiX and now to wrap my head around how the summing works. Wonder if there’s an area where people have posted their workflow... Have only had mine for a few weeks, so still sorting out my routing. Short answer is most outputs and inputs get routed into a patchbay. The routing is mor...

Re: Why are Perfect Circuit’s shipping prices so ridiculous?!

I’m saving up all the candy, stickers and packs of M3 screws to put in a big bowl for next Halloween. PCA is a decent place to order from, in my experience—as long as you understand how they work. For almost all my recent pre-orders, they’ve shipped within 48 hours of receiving the modules from the ...

Re: Frap Tools Brenso

Got my Brenso this morning. Zero damage or issues--whew! This is an insanely good oscillator--even the raw waveforms sound beautiful. The build quality, like all Frap Tools modules--is next level. The sound design and timbral shaping possibilities are endless. You could spend a day or two building a...

Re: New 12U travel case: Berliner XXL. Any thoughts?

That power spec has to be per board, right - not for the entire case? If that's the power for the entire case, you'd never be able to fill it. You'd have a hard time covering 6u with that. On one website, it says that "The case offers space for a second Berlin socket and is already prepared for thi...

Re: New 12U travel case: Berliner XXL. Any thoughts?

That case doesn't look bad, but yeah 2A on the +12V rail for 12U/104HP isn't adequate. It looks like they sell the switching power supply used in the case, so it would make sense to order an extra one with the case, and install, so each busboard has 2A.

Re: MI Streams to master album?

Streams is surprisingly good at compression and limiting. I’d use a light hand on the compression, especially the make up gain. I mostly used Streams as a limiter, and that was effective at finishing off a lot of modular recordings.

Re: Frap Tools Brenso

Well, that’s just great- my Brenso is also inbound from PCA. Everyone should also contact Frap Tools, before more shipments are damaged—although they probably packed and shipped the full lot on the same day. What’s with the packing peanuts—I seriously hate those things. :picard:

Re: Frap Tools Brenso

... can the wave shaping on the right side process external audio? It looks like all the modulation chains are semi-normalled, and can be used with external sources, but the waveshapers are normalled to the Brenso osc oututs. Makes sense, since waveshaping is usually part of osc circuits--you have ...

Even before the pandemic, the batches of Mannequins modules were infrequent. Three Sisters is worth waiting for--still my favorite eurorack filter for the sound, design, and size. It'll be back--eventually.

Re: Frap Tools Brenso

Frap Tools modules are beautifully made, and technically top level instruments. Hadn't planned it, but I'm building a Frap Tools system. Brenso sounds beautiful--as expected. I've been studying the manual and signal flow--and the design is brilliant. There's a lot of molecular-level control over the...

Does anybody have the 0-ctrl but not the o-coast? I feel like most people have both. I am wondering if without the 0coast is still possible to use it at its full potential. Anyway, would it make sense to use something like intellijel scales to quantize it? Is it better to quantize it in some way or...

Re: The Official Eurorack Deals Discussion Thread

I had a similar issue with Juno charging an amount over what showed up in the final checkout process. It may be partly due to the actual exchange rate you get on your bank card as opposed to the misleading currency exchange rate that gets used in their cart system--but even taking that into account,...

Re: Ensemble Oscillator from Matthias Puech & 4ms Company

Anyone find the output of this module a little low? Even with all 16 voices and heavy use of modifiers it’s not able to keep up with the rest of my modules. The output on my Ensemble is perfect--no issues. One of the things that immediately struck me, was how nicely balanced the sound levels are, m...

Re: best SOUNDING signal path MODULES

It's probably best to have a different mindset when thinking about synthesis , as opposed to the studio and sound reinforcement process. In synthesis you're more concerned about whether your modular will generate the quality of the timbres you like, and the features/controls/price. As Starthief ment...

Re: If you had to pick one OSC for a small system. Which one would that be?

4MS Ensemble Oscillator—-hard to best for a wide range of sounds. Have Plaits and used to have an Orgone Accumulator—both fine oscillators, but Ensemble is incredible. Plaits has a bunch of discrete modes, that abruptly transition when switched—-Ensemble is mostly modeless—and that makes it super pl...

Hadn’t intended to order the Ensemble, but I’m digging everything 4MS is releasing, so with the long weekend- I figured it would be fun to try. Totally blew my expectations out of the water—so expressive and the range of sounds is insane. Industrial noise to super melodic, and this is the easiest to...

Re: Looking for inspiration: Show me your closed/fixed systems!

Here’s my music concrète / performance system—my first real attempt at coming up with a stable system. I may end up pulling out the control section with the Tete and Tetrapad , but otherwise I think it’ll remain stable. It took me about a year to plan and execute—and it’s exceeded my expectations.
