Re: Battery powered 0CTRL + 0Coast

Ok, i now have an Ansmann 20.000mAh powerbank with two USB outputs and 2 x myvolts 15V. This should work right? I am a little bit afraid that I will fry both my 0Coast and 0CTRL since I don't know that much about voltage, current and resistance, more that the very basics (I guess som will say that ...

Hooboy--that demo. I too, would like to be part of the elegant thereminist lifestyle--playing in a French chateau on a sprawling estate, with grand piano accompaniment. No question, that's one gorgeous instrument, and a thousand times yes on the walnut stand.

What is the imagined or real advantage to using a TV instead?
So as not to overtax your imagination :hmm: --portable tv's are useful in video synthesis and processing. There's also a lot of (mostly) empty bandwidth across the tuning range that can produce different types of noise.

Re: Old TV as white noise generator

An old analog pocket tv works great as a noise generator. You can get some interesting flavors of noise using the tuning. Early pocket tv's used crt tubes, and they later switched to digital displays, but I don't think that should make a difference--it's the same analog tuning circuit. I have some S...

Re: SOMA ORNAMENT-8 organismic sequencer

I’m still not 100% sure how it will work with just a Lyra8. Is there any point in getting it without a Pulsar? I sometimes put coins on the touch plates, is it just a fancy version of a row of coins? However, I did register my interest and am waiting for my turn to arrive. I rather enjoy Vlad‘s mar...

I threw a 333 in on a larger Frap Tools order, not even sure if I'd use it. Fast forward a year, and it's in every patch--brilliant utility module. Spectacularly unsexy module that's endlessly useful.

Re: Instruō - Cš-L complex oscillator [CS-L]

CS-L owners — what filters do you like to use with it, if any? I'm looking to use it to cover my driven metallic bass sound needs. Cs-L sounds amazing with all the analog filters in my system. Three Sisters and Jove are probably my favorites, though. Agree that Belgrad is also good. Cs-L can make s...

Re: High frequency square wave to drive ZDSP

Can the ZDSP make use of higher clock rates? It’s not clear from a quick glance at the manual if it can make use of clocks above 32khz. The Spin FV-1 chip in the Z-DSP is clocked by a crystal that normally runs at 32kHz. I’ve found the Sinc Iter osc is excellent for under or overclocking the proces...

Re: Looking for a specific mixer

I have the Performance Mixer, and it's got room for you to expand in the future--so don't be too quick to rule it out. For a smaller, but capable mixer, I like the XAOC Praga a lot--lots of cv control with two stereo aux returns.

Re: Options for splitting frequencies like Res EQ & 419?

Both the 419 and Resonant EQ add resonant frequency’s, adding color. Which can be good and interesting unless you already like your source material and just want a way to make it stereo in a unique way. I will look closer at the SMR, Fumana and Bark. Thanks for the suggestions. No problem! The Moog...

Re: Options for splitting frequencies like Res EQ & 419?

Doesn't splitting a signal into two sets of frequency bands add additional color? Or do you mean distortion or resonance? The 4MS SMR, Frap Tools Fumana, and Verbos Bark filters can all split signals into two sets of bands. A lot of fixed filter banks allow you to do something similar. You could als...

Re: Recursive Machine Build Thread

Not sure if Jon updated the manual but he recommended to me, after the last indicated manual revision date, to increase the gain of the wet reverb by changing the 39K in the top section of the reverb (between the 1K and 10K) to 10K or less. Thanks for posting this! I was thinking the gain on the we...

Re: Recursive Machine Build Thread

It's worth trying log pots for the LFO rate controls, your mileage may vary. It seemed hard to dial in slow LFO rates with the linear pots but by the time I put in log pots I couldn't remember the previous response and didn't do a comparison. (Built one for someone and don't have it here to check.)...

Re: Recursive Machine Build Thread

It's not in the BOM, but I'd recommend A100 (log) pots for the mixer. I used the longer shaft Song Huei A100 pots, so I have a nice audio taper, and it's a little easier to mix. Sure wish THC had specced a USB jack for the power instead of an oddball size barrel jack--since it's 5V. I'll probably pu...

Re: Recursive Machine Build Thread

Yes, 10K SMD resistor is shown on the pcb under the filter's Q pot, but you should use the 0K bridge resistor in it's place. THC made the change, so the filter will self-oscillate--and believe me, you want to do the same. Just a wire (resistor leg) will do? Yup--you just have to bridge the two pads.

Re: End of Chain Effects? BIG BALLS !

I currently have an OTO Machines BOUM parked as an insert on my master bus. Really a lovely box to have as an end of chain effect or for tracking. It was between the BOUM and the Analog Heat. Since I already had a BAM, and I wanted a character compressor--thought I'd try the BOUM. Love it, and didn'...

No misunderstanding--I was posting an observation about a tracking test unrelated to your issue. Maybe I'm not noticing the effect you mention, but if I can dial in a tuning without a problem--it'...
