Re: WMD Metron sequencer

If I’m not using Pams, I’m using my DAW w/ Expert Sleepers ES-3 setup with a ton of expander modules. Both seem pretty rock solid so far, though I use Pam’s more than the ES rig.

Maybe I am crazy but is there no start/stop button on this?
Get a Pams or Frequency Central Chronograf.

Re: WMD Volt

Does the transpose affect each of the three outputs independently, or all three at the same time? Considering this or a Noise Engineering Quant Gemi for transpositions.

I guess the Yamaha TX-81Z is vintage too?

Re: RE-303 Opinions wanted (now that it has been in the "wild" for a bit.)

Let us know if there's a build quality issue or if that's simply how they are. I got in touch with the builder...it seems that the spec pots (identical to the TB) just aren't that good. I am going to try to reach out to a couple other RE-303 owners and confirm. I will keep everyone posted. Confirme...

Re: Replacing 15VDC power bricks with 15VDC linear PSU?

It's a little hard to discuss without knowing what you're delivering this 15VDC to. If it's to a switchmode PSU in your case, then I think you're fine sending it 15VDC from a linear supply. I'm not sure how the linear supply will help you though, it seems like six of one, or half a dozen of the oth...

Re: RE-303 Opinions wanted (now that it has been in the "wild" for a bit.)

I’ve been part of the beta test team for Audiorealism ABL3 Plugin for a number of years now, and while I love what that thing could do, I eventually went out and got a TB-03 upon its release (then sold it a year ago) and then built a RE-303 last year. I’ll still use the crap out of ABL3, but the han...

If it's a Para800 instead of a Poly800?

No thanks.
Take a close look at the second board. That’s clearly laid out like it has EIGHT full voices. I’m going to guess that’s why they’re calling this a Poly800 instead of a 600.

Re: Behringer Pro 800, Prophet 600 clone

The P600 is NOT a great synth, the P5 is, sound is good, the resonance is really musical too on a P5, it has its issues, but overall, the P5 is class. The P600 is not a P5. To compare the two and say one is better than the other misses the point. Unless if you’re one of those gear snobs that collec...

Replacing 15VDC power bricks with 15VDC linear PSU?

I have a pair of RackBrute 6U’s for my portable setup, and it’s a PITA to have to plug & unplug the power bricks from behind my setup when I need to pack up & go. I looked up the bricks and they put out 15VDC on a barrel connector, with center positive, and they’re rated for 3A each. Has anyone else...

Re: ES-3mk4/ES-5: signal bleed from Gates 2/4/5 to Gates 3?

I’m not sure what the difference is, but I slapped my extra 8CV in on GT3, and I’m not getting any interference or noise this time around. Maybe there was something unique to the 8MD on GT3 that was causing some crosstalk, or maybe the header on 8MDmk1 was doing something to the ES-5 (they were next...

Re: ES-3mk4/ES-5: signal bleed from Gates 2/4/5 to Gates 3?

I decided to reconfigure where I attach things, to best work around the low level muting issue that Reason suffers from (for which there is no easy workaround like there is with a text file setting in Ableton). That said, it appeared as a full-scale trigger on both 2-1 and 3-1, then switching it to ...

ES-3mk4/ES-5: signal bleed from Gates 2/4/5 to Gates 3?

I’m configuring my default setup in my DAW so I don’t have to reinvent the wheel everytime, and I’m noticing an issue that I’ve never seen before. This is with an ES-3mk4 that just arrived this week, and I’ve tested it with two different ES-5 versions, with the same result. I’m getting some sort of ...

Re: Silent Way in Cubase 5 -- any particular version or tips to make it work?

Cubase might just be THE worst DAW for Silent Way, at least as far as anything that uses the ES-4/5 Controller plugins. There’s no way of routing (that I’ve ever been able to get to work, and I have Cubase 9.5 Pro) the signals to the inputs of the ES-4/5 Controller plugins. Steinberg is strictly adh...

Re: Dead ES-3mk4. Service manual/schematic or test points to check?

Are you getting the ADAT sync LED when the ADAT is connected? It turns out that I had a bad fiber optic cable... A new ES-3mk4 arrived, and I had to flip optical cables to determine the cable wasn’t work (despite a red light at the end, regardless of how I had them flipped). New one is working fine...

Re: Frequency Central Stasis Leak build thread

I’m pretty sure the case around the jack would impede the flow of solder. Along with the solder mask. That does a good job of keeping gear on the pad.... even if you whack loads on it still forms a great ball on the pad. I think you would need to feed a shoelace amount of solder to overflow that. B...

Re: Frequency Central Stasis Leak build thread

Could the 9v regulator be involved somehow? That should be the feed to pin1? Vdd Looking at the schematic..... 9v > 33r > pin 1 of Belton abe. The output pin of the 9v reg is nearest the 47uf caps. The 10uf cap between the reg and the 47s is the smoothing cap? For the 9v line. (9v Smoothing Include...

Frequency Central Stasis Leak build thread

Working on a Frequency Central Stasis Leak module at the moment, and am scratching my head at what appears to be a mistake on trace routing. There’s a 33R resistor on the jack board which is in between the 9V voltage regulator and what’s supposed to be pin 1 on the ABE FX chip, but as far as I can t...

Okay, cool, this is all really helpful! Thank you all! Are there any other modules in this area of things that you'd recommend?
