Yes, but the answer to "ideally I'd like the ES5 itself to use channel 8" is no, assuming "ES5 itself" means the output sockets physically on the ES-5.
I’m just looking out for options that help you sell more modules. ;)

No, the ES-5 itself will always be on an odd-numbered channel.
Couldn’t it work if you don’t use the ES-5’s outputs at all, and ONLY use ESX devices connected to the ES-5 on GT4 thru GT6?

Re: Grayscale shits on Mutable’s open source license

Time for MI to have a MUCH larger time gap between module release and files published. Maybe several years, instead of several months after release?

I think the “community” has had plenty time to “learn” from what’s been published so far.

Re: New interface..which one?

What about the RME Hammerfall and then pick your own ADAT feeds? I’m considering that and then keeping my Safire and Octopre for my Analog IO? I picked a Digiface USB, which has 4x ADAT IO’s. I have 2x Behringer ADA8200’s, a Z-Systems Z8.8a (ADAT for connecting 8 channels of SPDIF IO to outboard FX...

Re: Line power strategy for Lots of Gear?

Before you can implement a ZeroVolt system you need busbar distribution. You cannot do it with pcb busboards, there just isn't anything to attach large cables to. I use different methods depending on whether it is a fixed permanent system or if it is required to be portable for performance. The the...

Re: Line power strategy for Lots of Gear?

However much gear you hang on it with the appropriately rated cable the input cabling should be rated at that plus whatever it needs to recharge the batteries from flat. Ampacity ratings from the NEC show that 10 AWG would be the minimum, but having a large margin for safety would be preferable. Th...

Re: Line power strategy for Lots of Gear?

If you've got 6kW of gear you are beyond what can be drawn from a domestic outlet in any country. I would certainly hope that it's not all unbalanced. I got 6 units from the server farm at an auction for $30. I sold 4 of the others for a significant amount more than I paid for them, keeping the tra...

Re: Line power strategy for Lots of Gear?

I use 220V to the main rack and a load splitter/suppressor/distro to feed the 110v strips in the other stuff. Takes a 30a 220V line and gives 2 separate 110V circuits with their own breakers/switches in addition to the main which gives a convenient way to turn on and off your gear. Graham, any thou...

Re: Line power strategy for Lots of Gear?

I used to suggest that and you may find older posts to that effect, but please ignore them. If you have a common impedance problem the drop in resistance that would give you is not enough and you will still hear the hum or noise it causes. If you have a magnetic pickup loop this can be reduced by t...

Re: Line power strategy for Lots of Gear?

The problem is that with unbalanced connections between gear, and to some extent electronic balanced connections, some of the signal return currents travel through the mains Earth/Ground wiring. They do not travel to the actual Earth, they only complete their electrical circuits as far as that goes...

Re: Line power strategy for Lots of Gear?

Audio power distribution should be taken from one outlet, it is when you use multiple outlets going independently back to the breaker box that problems arise. I'm currently doing this, in a temporary fashion, but it sounds like this might be a good idea for the future when I finish my room (current...

That is completely understandable, however he hasn't said anything about that or anything at all to my knowledge, is still selling the Sonic Potion's CPU's, and isn't making the software open source for others to complete it. Someone else was hired to help manage sales & shipments while Julian is b...

Only about 500 were made if I'm rememberting correctly.
I'm pretty sure this isn't correct. My understanding based on serial ranges (not the actual serial numbers themselves) was that several thousand were made. Moog & Tandy/RS aren't exactly companies that do small production runs.

Let me ask you something: that ESX-8MD does the same think USAMO does, right? I don’t think so. The ESX-8MD can output MIDI note data, MIDI clock, controller data (I believe), as well as DIN sync clock. IIRC, USAMO can only output MIDI clock. no, usamo can output all of the above as well. it's like...

I don’t think it’s discontinued, but Julian has been focusing on his family life right now (he had a kid in the past year or so, I believe). I can’t blame the guy for taking the time to dedicate to family time.

Re: Stupid/genius idea: standalone Silent Way software to use MIDI outs connected to an ES-3/5?

The point of the ESX-8MD etc. is to give you accurate timing in a DAW environment. If you're just sending MIDI controllers through it live, you're not really gaining anything. True, but... if I’m not using my DAW, then I have no way to access the MIDI outs to my synths, at least not without having ...

Stupid/genius idea: standalone Silent Way software to use MIDI outs connected to an ES-3/5?

I would it be possible to have a stand-alone Silent Way application that would allow you to use the MIDI outputs of ESX-8MD’s (or ESX-8GT’s and/or ES-5) such that you could use MIDI controllers connected to your machine to send MIDI note/clock data out thru the ES-3 (or ES-8 in ADAT mode) to the mod...

Do you control non euro stuff with it? I send clocks to a RE-303 & TR-606. I need to wire up the little contraption that converts V-trig to S-trig, then I can sequence my Minimoog with it. I will probably use it to do some control of my MS-20M, even though it does have MIDI onboard. Really? Includi...
